Im gonna be a little honest man, why have hardstyle artists forgotten that this genre was founded on KICKS. Not lighthearted intros and hour long bridges. Compare any of this to the classics. Not even the same genre. Why did we inject new things into the formula, change what it is, and still call it the same thing? Of course we have to have variations, by why is EVERY track euphoric style? I cant find music closer to the classics ANYWHERE. I hope im looking in the wrong places.
Alright... lets all dump our Iphone and get a Nokia instead. Things evolve, also music. If you desperately want to listen to old Hardstyle, then listen to it. The problem is that if you're an upcoming artist and you make the oldschool hardstyle, you're never gonna breakthrough, cause eveyone is like, "this sounds like 20 years ago"

If the answer were that simple we would all think of it ourselves and this conversation would never happen. But its not that simple. How is this an evolution when the things that have changed which I dont like are in 99% of modern hardstyle. The same shit in every track? Thats not an evolution thats disregarding the roots of the genre entirely and stealing it identity so throughly that the old way was left homeless and is dying in the street. While someone else wears its nametag. Its not even the same thing and artists ripping off the genres name has killed our scantrax roots. And Im not going to badmouth anyone over it but it makes me sad to look around and realize my music is gone. Its not the same thing and I dont know how people can pretend it is. I even get that words definitions are a little subjective and we repurpose words, but Hardstyles not that old and, the purpose of words is for us to AGREE on their meaning so that we can understand eachother. So there needs to be SOME boundaries for them we cant let every person write their own dictionary and then learn a new language for every person that we meet I encourage everyone to go get a best of hardstyle playlist from 7 8 9 years ago and compare. Why dont we make that style anymore? Id be fine if there were more artists known for it but the genre just shouldnt be called the same thing if oldschool is gone. Iv had to move on to Gabber because what they say is true. Hardstyles gone soft.

I'm not an expert in any of this, but i am curious about hard style, partly because its only recently i heard of it (i'm am a late 90's early 00's D&B raver). After a bit of research and listening, it sounds to me that this modern varient of hard style (sometimes refered to as newstyle?) is made up of euphoric trance like builds, happy hardcore melodic drops, gabber distorted kick drums and then commercialised a little with some club dance vocals, please correct me if i am wrong? Anyway, bit of a different rave culture to my late nighties underground UK drum and bass experience.
