I agree, JYP himself is not really knowledgeable on vocal technique so I don't see him applying it any time soon. There seems to be a much larger focus on diction and a pleasant tone than singing with technique.
i think maybe because koreans love these tone of voice or pitch thats why mostly all companies go with this choice even yg makes rose sings nasaly and make her voice more high pitched and cute or even produce 48 winners mostly have high piched voice idk its just a korean thing they seem like just love high pitched voice
I agree, one of the reasons why I can't completely stan Twice's music, is because they all have potential to have some very decent/amazing vocals, but don't have away to access it. I guess it's because JYP is tried to fit their voices with their music style/concept, which was mainly cutesy.

JYP actually kinda sucks with vocals. i saw a tv show where he teaches girls to be idols and what i notice is that he doesn’t tell them how to properly use their voice but rather sound like him and what he personally likes.
That’s what I was thinking when watching his tv programs and his girl groups he just picks people that suit him not people who have potential he only want people who are attractive to him and can dance he doesn’t care at all about vocals as long as the dancing is perfect like literally perfect he doesn’t care about the rest

Jeongyeon has the perfect voice for old jyp girl groups songs like wonder girls, Miss a and 15&, she really shines when she covers them. I’d love to know what you think of the duo 15& they’re both great vocalists
I've been a hard Jeongyeon bias for super long and everything you said was painfully accurate. She is really under-appreciated because her voice just doesn't suit their concept, but damn the pre-debut Jeongyeon in the survival show... that was when she really shined. She was one of the most popular members, (pre-debut survival show era) and dropped to one of the less popular members today. I really feel like the girl-crush concept and cutting her hair short was really forced onto her and that may have deterred a lot of potential fans. Also not to mention her voice. Her voice is like warm honey. It's so smooth and stable, it's honestly quite sad JYP doesn't have the best vocal trainers because Twice has so much potential.

@@beta910 That was in 2019, she never long hair beyond the shoulders before(except for a shoot) so for Fancy she wanted to try(since 2018 she expressed wanting it but she told management would not allow) but in came 2019 she was allowed and when she tried it, she found it difficult to manage, so she concluded she prefers the shorter hair, I am guessing the shoulder-chin length kind of short . Backstory: So during trainee period before Sixteen, she had hair touching her shoulder mid-length (which was her actual length) the management asked her to cut it, so for the show she cut it and she continued cutting it to the pixie hair for debut. 2015-17 she had the really short hair/pixie cut/boy cut because the management wanted Girl Crush, they gave her more tomboyish style clothes and styling like how Fx amber dresses. I don't think she liked that full heartedly. Starting from 2018 the management has eased the stronghold they have on her image, now they cancelled tomboyish/girlcrush but looks like they are trying Mature Formal look, I hate to say this but its like styling for females in their 30's.
funkystyle That makes sense,I think in general JYPE(and tbh most idol entertainment companies) have a strict hold on their idols for their first 3 years of debut.I have noticed that and it’s like a trial period for the group or idol.It is also the period that groups get worked to the bone the hardest. It’s really bad if you ask me because I think gradual build is better for the idol’s health,but I think they are using the first 3 years because that’s when the idols are kind of like “hot off the press” (sorry I sidetracked from what you were saying,but basically I feel bad for her and I hope they have a less strict hold on her)
Jeongyeon did said that she want to try long hair back and she tried it in fancy. But , she also said in Twicelights Seoul concert that , she is going cut her hair short. There are many articles also published for her straight forward statement to Once in that concert , said she wants to that's why. She is comfortable with short hair rather than long hair. Not everyone likes to have long hair.
I’m really happy about Chaeyoung! The top 3 was probably no surprise for any once but outside of that Chaeyoung did really great! People tend to over see her singing abilities, maybe because she always says she want to rap, but that girl is good at everything! Ok enough fangirling haha thanks for the video

Jihyo and Jeongyeon have so much potential to become powerhouse vocalists and work their way towards becoming two of the third gen’s strongest vocalists but JYP isn’t capable of helping them improve to that point the way he did with Sunye and Yeeun and it’s really unfortunate
this 100%. Jihyo and Jeongyeon are legitimate powerhouse vocalists but one has no lines and the other has bad technique. If only they were trained more we would have a duo to be wreckoned with.

newbie CHU tbh no. that’s a bit more incomparable considering how Jessica’s has an extremely light tone. Sunye’s was more balanced like Jihyo; it wasn’t too light but still had enough power. Taeyeon, Yeeun and Jeongyeon could be compared tho, as they’re all powerhouses

To be honest.. She just to be bad during and before debut, but in my opinion, she improved the most out of everyone in twice . I really like how her voice sounds nowadays
i think mina lacks proper vocal projection and in general her voice isn’t very supported. but her falsetto is very beautiful and her voice is super soothing. also dahyun is a very underrated singer, like her supported range is actually averagely wide.
I love Dahyun’s voice, it’s my personal favorite singing voice in Twice. I think the breathy sort of color it has sounds great. I think she just needs more stability for it to really shine.
I love Dahyun’s voice but she uses a half air half sound technique and breaths too much while singing which really limits her technical abilities. Mina too, it may not sound like it but she has a quite airy voice as well.
Why most of kpop female rappers are also good singers? Because originally they auditioned for a singing position and the company saw the potential for a rapper position
In Twice Seize the Light ep 2, Momo acknowledges her vocal ability and that it is not really good. She said that she was scared to go to vocal classes. Tbh, the amount of lines she gets in Twice is fair for her because she must feel anxious if she gets too many vocal lines.
JYP needs to realize that she just isn’t up to par with the other 8 members vocally and switch her and Dahyun’s positions. Dahyun needs to be a sub-rapper and vocalist and Momo a lead rapper and sub-vocalist
I don’t like when people put Jeongyeon above Jihyo just because they like the sound of her voice more. It’s completely biased and it’s obvious Jihyo is one of the strongest JYP vocalists, and you shouldn’t make her any lower than the place she deserves just because you prefer voices like Jeongyeons over stronger voices like Jihyos. I’m glad none of your videos are biased. You always come with the facts.
Romina Reyes I know she isn’t the best vocalist though. But in her generation, in her company, she is one of the stronger vocalists, and has her main vocalist spot for a reason. My point is that you can say Jihyo isn’t your favorite vocalist or that you like another vocalists voice more, but you can’t be biased and say “I put jeongyeon higher because she has a soothing voice that I like more”, which is something many people do.
@Romina Reyes Jihyo can be an average singer even above average (but at the moment, average) when it comes to the whole kpop, however Jihyo is one of the strongest vocalists of the 3rd generation and remains stronger than Jeongyeon and the rest of the group.
No Jam Bros are just underrated in general. They are called the weakest dancers of Twice, don’t get any recognition for their vocals, and Chaeyoung doesn’t any appreciation for her outstanding rap skills. They deserve better ❤️
Jihyo is "average" for a main vocalist because main vocalists are all spectacular singers. Being an average main vocalist means youre still an exceptional singer, its nit picking. The difference between being an S tier and A tier basically. She's definitely not among the weakest main vocals but there are certainly many stronger ones out there too
An average main vocalist is still good. They’d be in the A/A+ tier, while most great main vocalist are SS tier. Then you got IU, Chen, and Taeyeon in “How is a human this talented” tier

My favourite twice song is signal because the key is brought down a little bit and Jeongyeon eats everyone up on that song. Signal honestly allows everyone to shine vocally
Dahyun is kinda like the 'J-hope of Twice', they're both the lead rapper and underrated Vocalist. Their rap is pretty 'cool', but their singing voice is a little bit sweeter.

I think Mina and Chaeyoung's voices are almost on par, but Mina has a slightly weaker tone, and I agree with where you put them. I love Mina and can't wait to hear her voice next comeback.

honestly, its kinda upsetting seeing that tzuyu has to not only sing higher than what she’s comfortable with, but also dance to concept that make her look awkward because of her height, she always gets criticised for both her singing and dancing when we’re hardly seeing what shes capable of, thankfully that concepts of the last three eras compliment her dancing well and her vocals are constantly improving with a slighty higher range, but i do hope to see her sing in her most comfortable pitch.
That's certainly one way to look at it. However I would argue the best dancer is in SM and the best rapper is in JYP. But I guess that's just my personal opion. As a focus, I'd say they're all fairly accurate.
sm has Taemin, kai and Ten though, and Queen Boa and hyoyeon, u still think sm only focuses on vocals? sm have good dancers and vocalists, just lack of good rappers
Only True Onces know what Sana's capability in Vocals really. He just look at some videos of them and tend to judge only on what he sees. Esp when JYP is like pushing her to be more of vocalist nowadays

Honestly I’m conflicted whether to put Jeongyeon or Nayeon second. I’ve changed my rankings after people yelled at me to put Nayeon second and also after people yelled at me to put Jeongyeon second. Maybe I should just put them tied

I actually spent 1 year stanning twice thinking that Nayeon is kind of a weak vocalist. I did not expect her to be this high because I thought her voice sounded forced especially when she sang higher but you really changed my mind on that. She does have a great kpop girl group kind of voice. And sounds way more stable than most of the other members. Thanks!
Same she’s my ultimate bias wrecker, my ultimate bias is Chaeyoung. But I love Jeongyeon’s vocals the most and her voice is something very special....very unique and different. Not something you here a lot in Kpop, so it has a soft spot in my heart. And you’re right she literally has the best live vocals.

Mina got the least vocal training having little to basically none. If she were to train as long as Jihyo or even the other members she could do sooo well
Witch Of Babylon anyone can improve there is always room for improvement. And she is commonly singing in falsetto. If she developed her chest and head voice more she can improve. She hasn’t shown any strain in her falsetto range yet so we don’t know her full range yet. If she were to get training I feel like she could really be a lead vocalist

That’s a good point about Jeongyeon’s voice lacking character in the higher keys. I’ve always thought that despite her being one of the best singers technically in Twice, her voice didn’t have as much of an interesting tone as someone like Nayeon, who while technically worse, is very distinct. But I never considered that it could just be the music not lending itself to her.
I don't know if you know this already but for MOST kpop companies, even if they are signing you to be a rapper all of the artists have to have at least some singing abilities to be signed. Alot of rappers are great singers because some of them initially wanted to be a vocalist but somebody in the group needs to be the rapper and it doesn't have to he the weakest singer but just rather the best rapper. Chaeyoung, joohoney, chanyeol are examples of excellent singers but they are also the best rappers of the group so they didn't get vocalist positions
Agree. Also Chaeyoung wanted to be a rapper, she’s always had a lot of passion in becoming a rapper. She’s been writing almost all her lyrics for her rap verse and she is self taught.
Ikr...most of all she is not even treated as the main rapper. She need a killer rap part where she can show her amazing talent in rapping. She should be given more opportunities to sing as well. And same, my bias always happen to be the most under appreciated members. Chaeyoung and Jeongyeon from TW, Chaeryeong from ITZY, and Wheein from Mamamoo. I guess it's because I see them differently and recognize their charms more than others.
Being in JYP isn't doing any service to most of these girls any service in terms of developing their singing voice. JYP makes them sing in this half air voice style that he likes. He and his artist have said in numerous videos that that's the signature style of JYP artists and they are all trained to sing in that style. If that style doesn't fit you, well tough luck.

Twice badly need vocal training. They have so much potential as a group and it's painful imagining that it'd go to waste. ESPECIALLY, Nayeon, Jeongyeon and Jihyo.
So, I'm not an expert on this topic like you are, but I have to disagree on one point you made about Mina's voice. I think she has one of the most recognizable voices in Twice. Her tone has an extreme softness to it, that I could pick out very early on when listening to Twice. Her's is also my favorite voice in this group along with Chaeyoung and Jeongyeon.
I think my opinion on mina's voice may change with time and repeated listens. But I just struggle to pick her voice out right now. Not fully sure why that is. But as I say, that could change. She is still a good singer though.
I agree with pretty much everything except Jeongyeon isn't a Mezzo. She just doesn't have a high tessitura like Nayeon. I think its Bb3-Bb4 When I heard her sing I couldn't think anything but Soprano. Light Lyric to be exact. She is just best in the 4th octave. She gets chesty and strains above Bb4 sometimes like her high note in one in a million.(Best part of the song tho

Pleeeease do this with Loona, they’re 12 girls and A LOT of them are very very strong vocalists, around 7/12 of the members have the potential to be a main vocal and even Jinsoul the main rapper is able to do belt notes. They have very different voices and are very interesting and also unique.

Witch Of Babylon I haven't found Tzuyu to be pitchy but her projection is rather weak. Mina and Tzuyu have very different voices so I think it comes down to preference. ✌🏼️
Agreed Tzuyu has improved so much. If this were a few years ago I would've ranked her 7th and below Sana and Mina but she has proved us wrong. She grew so much and I think now she is capable of being a lead vocalist. She still has problems with her pitch accuracy, but that has improved as well.

Yes.....she knows she's capable of it she even said herself that she sings as good as she rap. But she's not confident in her singing. She is literally an amazing singer and all she needs to work on is her confidence. She knows she can do it!
Hello. Thank you for making a vocal ranking on my favourite group. I also think Jyeongyeon has a very good voice. I would reccomend you to listen to Like a fool by Twice. Jyeongyeon's voice sounded good to me in that song.
Now imagine if NY, JY, and JH get the SM vocal training. I’ve been stanning Twice for 4 yrs now and their untapped vocal potential still frustrates me and that half-air half-sound technique JYP loves to use got to go.
@@Samsamuh i have to disagree. Of the three, Jihyo has the most developed vocal technique. It's just that Nayeon is more consistently stable, but stability doesn't always mean better technique. Even as a Nayeon stan, I admit that she tends to get shouty and strains in some of her high notes but this is because producers have them sing in pitch that are beyond their comfortable range. Which will lead me back to my main argument of Twice's untapped potential because producers don't exactly utilize their voices in such a way that would show off each member's vocal colors.

yep, nayeon usually gets alot of lines bc she has that kpop idol voice, and her voice suites the songs that twice sings. while jeongyeon is really underused bc she suites more mature tones. as much as we love her voice, jeongyeon stans have to realize that kpop is a business. as much as we wish that she could get more lines, twice isnt at that point where theyre letting go of their higher pitch. so: if she wasnt in twice, which group do you think she would fit the best in?
nice video! but i think from a pure audience's stand point, Mina's voice is so unique to her. The voice itself might not stand out as compared to other stronger k-pop vocals but it matches so well with her image and personality. When I first started listening to Twice's songs, I would immediately recognize Mina's voice. I think that alone makes her stand out amongst her peers.
I feel like it’s almost impossible to rank Twice. Mina Sana Tzuyu are literally the same level Momo and Dahyun as well. There’s also 9 members so it’s hard for them to show what they can offer they need sub units in their albums so that can be a fair ranking.
I don’t find it difficult to rank them bc opinions but lists usually look like this: 4.Momo 3.Sana-Tzuyu-Dahyun 2.Chaeyoung-Mina (imo Chaeyoung is distinctively stronger) 1. Jihyo-Nayeon-Jeongyeon (Jihyo is usually first tho)

about momo's "fake voice"... listen to her performances of the way you love me and swing baby in sixteen, you'll hear the voice is a lot less high and nasal
Nayeon tends to be more consistent with her voice and support than Jeongyeon. But Jeongyeon (when supports) has a fuller sound because her placement is way better and less nasal. Nayeon has a very crispy tone while Jeongyeon really has a full and more of a darker tone.But both get kinda shouty the higher they go but Nayeon has more ease in her upper range while Jeongyeon really lacks in that area and tends to crack because she can’t control her volume so i would put Nayeon above Jeongyeon or on par with Jeongyeon because both have the same strengths and weaknesses (a few different tho)
I agree with alot of that. I just think if jeongyeon was allowed to sing a step down her vocal colour and control would really shine. So I think she has a better instrument than Nayeon but hers is utilised better. Both are good though and do have similar weaknesses.

So i just decided who delivers their lines the best and who really brings the emotion to the song and that was Jeongyeon so yeah i agree her instrument is better

The first one is the overall vocalist ranking, the second one is the idol vocalist ranking. The most controversial and confusing seem to be Nayeon and Jeongyeon, Chaeyoung and Mina, and Sana and Tzuyu. I feel with Twice that they can have very pleasantly surprising studio moments (particularly Momo Sana and Jeongyeon) but not hold up live. So its hard bc I feel theyre underrated vocally but most of them are hit or miss depending the performance. More than other groups :/

I agree, JYP himself is not really knowledgeable on vocal technique so I don't see him applying it any time soon. There seems to be a much larger focus on diction and a pleasant tone than singing with technique.

I agree, one of the reasons why I can't completely stan Twice's music, is because they all have potential to have some very decent/amazing vocals, but don't have away to access it. I guess it's because JYP is tried to fit their voices with their music style/concept, which was mainly cutesy.

JYP actually kinda sucks with vocals. i saw a tv show where he teaches girls to be idols and what i notice is that he doesn’t tell them how to properly use their voice but rather sound like him and what he personally likes.

I've been a hard Jeongyeon bias for super long and everything you said was painfully accurate. She is really under-appreciated because her voice just doesn't suit their concept, but damn the pre-debut Jeongyeon in the survival show... that was when she really shined. She was one of the most popular members, (pre-debut survival show era) and dropped to one of the less popular members today. I really feel like the girl-crush concept and cutting her hair short was really forced onto her and that may have deterred a lot of potential fans. Also not to mention her voice. Her voice is like warm honey. It's so smooth and stable, it's honestly quite sad JYP doesn't have the best vocal trainers because Twice has so much potential.

Backstory:
So during trainee period before Sixteen, she had hair touching her shoulder mid-length (which was her actual length) the management asked her to cut it, so for the show she cut it and she continued cutting it to the pixie hair for debut. 2015-17 she had the really short hair/pixie cut/boy cut because the management wanted Girl Crush, they gave her more tomboyish style clothes and styling like how Fx amber dresses. I don't think she liked that full heartedly. Starting from 2018 the management has eased the stronghold they have on her image, now they cancelled tomboyish/girlcrush but looks like they are trying Mature Formal look, I hate to say this but its like styling for females in their 30's.

That makes sense,I think in general JYPE(and tbh most idol entertainment companies) have a strict hold on their idols for their first 3 years of debut.I have noticed that and it’s like a trial period for the group or idol.It is also the period that groups get worked to the bone the hardest.
It’s really bad if you ask me because I think gradual build is better for the idol’s health,but I think they are using the first 3 years because that’s when the idols are kind of like “hot off the press” (sorry I sidetracked from what you were saying,but basically I feel bad for her and I hope they have a less strict hold on her)
Jeongyeon did said that she want to try long hair back and she tried it in fancy. But , she also said in Twicelights Seoul concert that , she is going cut her hair short. There are many articles also published for her straight forward statement to Once in that concert , said she wants to that's why. She is comfortable with short hair rather than long hair. Not everyone likes to have long hair.
I’m really happy about Chaeyoung! The top 3 was probably no surprise for any once but outside of that Chaeyoung did really great! Jihyo and Jeongyeon have so much potential to become powerhouse vocalists and work their way towards becoming two of the third gen’s strongest vocalists but JYP isn’t capable of helping them improve to that point the way he did with Sunye and Yeeun and it’s really unfortunate
this 100%. Jihyo and Jeongyeon are legitimate powerhouse vocalists but one has no lines and the other has bad technique. If only they were trained more we would have a duo to be wreckoned with.

i think mina lacks proper vocal projection and in general her voice isn’t very supported. but her falsetto is very beautiful and her voice is super soothing. also dahyun is a very underrated singer, like her supported range is actually averagely wide.
I love Dahyun’s voice, it’s my personal favorite singing voice in Twice. I think the breathy sort of color it has sounds great. I think she just needs more stability for it to really shine.

In Twice Seize the Light ep 2, Momo acknowledges her vocal ability and that it is not really good. She said that she was scared to go to vocal classes. Tbh, the amount of lines she gets in Twice is fair for her because she must feel anxious if she gets too many vocal lines.
JYP needs to realize that she just isn’t up to par with the other 8 members vocally and switch her and Dahyun’s positions. Dahyun needs to be a sub-rapper and vocalist and Momo a lead rapper and sub-vocalist

It’s completely biased and it’s obvious Jihyo is one of the strongest JYP vocalists, and you shouldn’t make her any lower than the place she deserves just because you prefer voices like Jeongyeons over stronger voices like Jihyos.

Romina Reyes I know she isn’t the best vocalist though. But in her generation, in her company, she is one of the stronger vocalists, and has her main vocalist spot for a reason. My point is that you can say Jihyo isn’t your favorite vocalist or that you like another vocalists voice more, but you can’t be biased and say “I put jeongyeon higher because she has a soothing voice that I like more”, which is something many people do.

Jihyo is "average" for a main vocalist because main vocalists are all spectacular singers. Being an average main vocalist means youre still an exceptional singer, its nit picking. The difference between being an S tier and A tier basically. She's definitely not among the weakest main vocals but there are certainly many stronger ones out there too

honestly, its kinda upsetting seeing that tzuyu has to not only sing higher than what she’s comfortable with, but also dance to concept that make her look awkward because of her height, she always gets criticised for both her singing and dancing when we’re hardly seeing what shes capable of, thankfully that concepts of the last three eras compliment her dancing well and her vocals are constantly improving with a slighty higher range, but i do hope to see her sing in her most comfortable pitch.

JYP focuses on dance, SM focuses on vocals and YG focuses on raps
That's certainly one way to look at it. However I would argue the best dancer is in SM and the best rapper is in JYP. But I guess that's just my personal opion. As a focus, I'd say they're all fairly accurate.

I actually spent 1 year stanning twice thinking that Nayeon is kind of a weak vocalist. I did not expect her to be this high because I thought her voice sounded forced especially when she sang higher but you really changed my mind on that. I’ve always thought that despite her being one of the best singers technically in Twice, her voice didn’t have as much of an interesting tone as someone like Nayeon, who while technically worse, is very distinct. But I never considered that it could just be the music not lending itself to her.
To me her voice is very interesting. Her voice is special to me, it’s very rich and deep. But yea Nayeon’s is more distinct

I don't know if you know this already but for MOST kpop companies, even if they are signing you to be a rapper all of the artists have to have at least some singing abilities to be signed. Alot of rappers are great singers because some of them initially wanted to be a vocalist but somebody in the group needs to be the rapper and it doesn't have to he the weakest singer but just rather the best rapper. Chaeyoung, joohoney, chanyeol are examples of excellent singers but they are also the best rappers of the group so they didn't get vocalist positions
Agree. Also Chaeyoung wanted to be a rapper, she’s always had a lot of passion in becoming a rapper. She’s been writing almost all her lyrics for her rap verse and she is self taught.

Ikr...most of all she is not even treated as the main rapper. She need a killer rap part where she can show her amazing talent in rapping. She should be given more opportunities to sing as well. And same, my bias always happen to be the most under appreciated members. Chaeyoung and Jeongyeon from TW, Chaeryeong from ITZY, and Wheein from Mamamoo. I guess it's because I see them differently and recognize their charms more than others.

Being in JYP isn't doing any service to most of these girls any service in terms of developing their singing voice. JYP makes them sing in this half air voice style that he likes. He and his artist have said in numerous videos that that's the signature style of JYP artists and they are all trained to sing in that style. If that style doesn't fit you, well tough luck.

Twice badly need vocal training. They have so much potential as a group and it's painful imagining that it'd go to waste. ESPECIALLY, Nayeon, Jeongyeon and Jihyo.
So, I'm not an expert on this topic like you are, but I have to disagree on one point you made about Mina's voice. I think she has one of the most recognizable voices in Twice. Her tone has an extreme softness to it, that I could pick out very early on when listening to Twice.
Her's is also my favorite voice in this group along with Chaeyoung and Jeongyeon.
I think my opinion on mina's voice may change with time and repeated listens. But I just struggle to pick her voice out right now. Not fully sure why that is. But as I say, that could change. She is still a good singer though.

I agree with pretty much everything except Jeongyeon isn't a Mezzo. She just doesn't have a high tessitura like Nayeon. I think its Bb3-Bb4 When I heard her sing I couldn't think anything but Soprano. Light Lyric to be exact. She is just best in the 4th octave. She gets chesty and strains above Bb4 sometimes like her high note in one in a million.(Best part of the song tho

Pleeeease do this with Loona, they’re 12 girls and A LOT of them are very very strong vocalists, around 7/12 of the members have the potential to be a main vocal and even Jinsoul the main rapper is able to do belt notes. They have very different voices and are very interesting and also unique.

Mig Y I think Mina is just overall a better singer than Tzuyu. Tzuyu seems to be off-key frequently.

Agreed Tzuyu has improved so much. If this were a few years ago I would've ranked her 7th and below Sana and Mina but she has proved us wrong. She grew so much and I think now she is capable of being a lead vocalist. She still has problems with her pitch accuracy, but that has improved as well.

Yes.....she knows she's capable of it she even said herself that she sings as good as she rap. But she's not confident in her singing. She is literally an amazing singer and all she needs to work on is her confidence. She knows she can do it!

Hello. Thank you for making a vocal ranking on my favourite group. I also think Jyeongyeon has a very good voice. I would reccomend you to listen to Like a fool by Twice. Jyeongyeon's voice sounded good to me in that song.
Now imagine if NY, JY, and JH get the SM vocal training. I’ve been stanning Twice for 4 yrs now and their untapped vocal potential still frustrates me and that half-air half-sound technique JYP loves to use got to go.

@@Samsamuh i have to disagree. Of the three, Jihyo has the most developed vocal technique. It's just that Nayeon is more consistently stable, but stability doesn't always mean better technique. Even as a Nayeon stan, I admit that she tends to get shouty and strains in some of her high notes but this is because producers have them sing in pitch that are beyond their comfortable range. Which will lead me back to my main argument of Twice's untapped potential because producers don't exactly utilize their voices in such a way that would show off each member's vocal colors.

yep, nayeon usually gets alot of lines bc she has that kpop idol voice, and her voice suites the songs that twice sings. while jeongyeon is really underused bc she suites more mature tones. as much as we love her voice, jeongyeon stans have to realize that kpop is a business. as much as we wish that she could get more lines, twice isnt at that point where theyre letting go of their higher pitch.

nice video! but i think from a pure audience's stand point, Mina's voice is so unique to her. The voice itself might not stand out as compared to other stronger k-pop vocals but it matches so well with her image and personality. When I first started listening to Twice's songs, I would immediately recognize Mina's voice. I think that alone makes her stand out amongst her peers.
I feel like it’s almost impossible to rank Twice. Mina Sana Tzuyu are literally the same level Momo and Dahyun as well. There’s also 9 members so it’s hard for them to show what they can offer they need sub units in their albums so that can be a fair ranking.
I don’t find it difficult to rank them bc opinions but lists usually look like this:

Nayeon tends to be more consistent with her voice and support than Jeongyeon. But Jeongyeon (when supports) has a fuller sound because her placement is way better and less nasal. Nayeon has a very crispy tone while Jeongyeon really has a full and more of a darker tone.But both get kinda shouty the higher they go but Nayeon has more ease in her upper range while Jeongyeon really lacks in that area and tends to crack because she can’t control her volume so i would put Nayeon above Jeongyeon or on par with Jeongyeon because both have the same strengths and weaknesses (a few different tho)
I agree with alot of that. I just think if jeongyeon was allowed to sing a step down her vocal colour and control would really shine. So I think she has a better instrument than Nayeon but hers is utilised better. Both are good though and do have similar weaknesses.
Samuel Bradley yesss,i am currently making a twice vocal ranking for my fanacc and i changed them like 6 times because i wasn’t sure if Jeongyeon or Nayeon would be better. So i just decided who delivers their lines the best and who really brings the emotion to the song and that was Jeongyeon so yeah i agree her instrument is better

The first one is the overall vocalist ranking, the second one is the idol vocalist ranking.
The most controversial and confusing seem to be Nayeon and Jeongyeon, Chaeyoung and Mina, and Sana and Tzuyu.
But Nayeon, Mina, and Sana are better idol vocalists than Jeongyeon, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu, but Jeongyeon, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu are the better overall vocalists.
Jyp makes song on his range.
He should consider range of women.

I feel with Twice that they can have very pleasantly surprising studio moments (particularly Momo Sana and Jeongyeon) but not hold up live. So its hard bc I feel theyre underrated vocally but most of them are hit or miss depending the performance. More than other groups :/
2:23 absolutely, man Twice's songs have kind of a medium to high key, common people finds itself screaming to match it if they're not careful! hard agree - although certain members are more stable singing live than others (which a lot of other rankings see as a basis for criticism), from an objective standpoint their vocals match your ranking 100%
