- If you ever watch our Sims Crane Minute videos, Bob always reminds us of the importance of good communication for a safe, smooth crane and rigging operation.
The basic hand signals used by crane operators have been developed by professionals in the crane and rigging industry as universally recognized communication techniques and are adopted by the ANSI standards and OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1400 crane regulations.
This is a long overdue, and highly requested, Sims Crane Minute video covering the basic hand signals we use every day when flagging a crane on the job site.
Prior to making any lift, the Lift Director must verify that the signal-person responsible for flagging the crane is properly trained and qualified to do so. This requires a fundamental understanding of the hand signals shown in this video, as well as understanding how the crane moves and functions.
Thank you for watching and sharing our videos and please subscribe to our channel to get the latest Sims Crane Minute videos, coming soon!

I feel certified. Thanks. Crane should be here any minute
Ofn
Good one 👍
You might be the good flag man but feeling certified don't count some places will require you to be certified before you can flag a crane. We have to have that paperwork.
LoL
Certified doesn't mean qualified
Thank you more Sir🙏 but I need your help, I'm coming from Rwanda country which is located in East of Africa ,I have more basic skills about Rigging gained in your channel , help me how can get certificate of Rigging
Please I need your help 🙏
I've worked for a few different companies and some of them we used but lots we didn't or are completely different for hand signals. Every company runs differently I guess.
This is completely different from what I was taught
Awesome video. Just be angrier next time so it's more realistic lol
time for ol' Bob Berry to retire...
wrong.... If I'm flagging and I see an issue... I can stop all of you's.....
Proper prior planning prevents piss-poor performance 👍🏻
Arnie's autistic aardvark almost always avoids alliteration, but not me;)
Thanks for the ideas you have discussed here.
Please note this varies from Country to Country. Learnt it the hard way.
Thanks for the information
Thanks
Good thing I'm very good at this and have done thg his as a ironworker too n for drilling nice to remind myself. It's my day off
Boom in, boom out signals not used in Australia, it’s just a thumb away, or a thumb towards the riggers chest
I know I'm trash, I was taking note from the intro clip 🤦🏽♂️👋🏽
He forgot the boom in hold the load.
cheack d optio standard for hand single
Good job sir
Thanks for videos
Its not the signallers choice as to extend the jib , the length of the jib is up to the crane operator
yeeehaw bob da builda
Thanks bob
Nice one...my practice on board...thanks
I’ve seen similar signals illustrated on some equipment. I’ve worked all over the south eastern United States and for the most part haven’t seen much of this used. A lot different
Thanks sir.
Thanks Mr bob

I miss construction
#extremeintelligence
Amo essa profissão 😍
thanks for the idea.
Hay
In Australia waving your hand horizontally means “lower hoist” and stop is a closed fist
Plus we use one handed signals for tele in/out cause guaranteed you're gonna be hanging onto a tagline most of the bloody time 😅
yeah in the usa we use one handed boom in/out signals also. on the 2 handed version though there is no hand movement. when getting certified here closed fist and movement on 2 handed boom signals will get you a fail. this is for building trades pipefitter union@@axelscrivener9711
Good lesson.
Thank you
Good job
Thanks for the idea
Nice
What are the tools for making a crane
vice grips and screwdriver
An anvil, hammer, and a rivet gun.
Hi
Ok
My job operator machine
👌
Wht is this crane name??
Tnx Bob 👍
Thanks
I wouldn't want to be the crane operator with these signals. They are right, when the operator can see the load but when he can't see the load the flag man has to be the operator eyes .Some people have it some don't .
We use radios
Or mobile.phones lol
no phones, they're not reliable@@ddk4664
Thanks for the refresher 🤙
thnx
Thank you ❤
Good job sir.. 👍🏻
