i have a 125 2stroke 2002. suzukie. haveing a hell of a time finding the manufactoring to purchase an motor new or used?
I'm wondering how to install a chamfered piston ring on a small 2-stroke engine that only has the 1 ring (Husqvarna 125B leaf blower). Should the chamfer be installed on the top or the bottom around the piston. in other words, should the bottom of the ring be touching the cylinder wall, or the top of the ring be touching?
can i usu the spring clamp to this job let me know thanks
when i rotate the cylinder does the ring rotate also and missing the little grove on the piston ?

If im not realy running my rm 125 real hard do i need to drill those lubrication holes?
So when you were putting the cylinder onto the piston and turning it the Piston rings were still locked into position?

Do you leave a margin of safety between the wall of the cylinder and the ring of the piston? I have seized my engine for having a ring too tight.
There a specific clearences that must be there for piston growth. The specs vary from the type of material the piston is made from (or how) too. Like cast vs. forged.

So, I can do a ring job on a PWC engine without pulling the motor and doing a full teardown?

I know this an older video, but I would like to see a video of what aftermarket parts are quality? Specifically, Namura pistons.
I do product reviews at times but mostly the videos on this channel are "skill set" based. I have used most Wiesco and OEM pistons with long-term feedback. I just don't recall any time I had good or bad with Namura...Always giving honest feedback good or bad here...

It varies on use and life expectancy. Many modern two-strokes come with one ring.

2 so you have a compression ring and an oil ring, it will make your motor last longer. also recommend forged pistons thru weisco. forged gives more horsepower and will last longer too, but you have to let your motor warm up longer than normal.
What was that engine from? If I had to guess I'd say a cr250.

I use a zip tie around the ring. jug will push the zip tie out of the way on the way down.

At 13 I knew this. I was changing crank bearings and diagnosing electrical faults by the time I was 14. My father was a jet mechanic. I had a moped that would 52 on flat ground. Over 60 going down the bridge to the beach.

Put the piston in the cylinder first then just stick the pin in
Hi Mike. We did a quick search of Shane's channel (we are the social media team) and found this video showing your same suggestion! We asked Shane quick and he said he doesn't do that on two-strokes as they are pretty easy to work with the rings but he said your are absolutely right on.
