This Futuristic Pod Started As Tsunami Shelter

  • The multipurpose POD by New Zealand company Dreadnort Boats was initially conceived as a tsunami survival shelter. Made of marine-grade aluminum plating with windows of toughened safety glass, the POD can seat 12 adults. It’s also equipped with 150-watt solar panels. The company says the current prototype couldn’t actually handle a full blown tsunami but can be used as an office, camping trailer, or even a houseboat.

    It is over-designed, a good design would be a sphere with one door/portal without all those structural failure points
