Asterism is an amazing congregation of talent with zero ego. The way they play is completely mesmerizing.

That section of hers following Miyu’s bass solo always makes me tear up. It just hits SO emotionally powerful! She’s an international treasure.💪🏻🤘🏻

"Dawn" is their masterpiece so far, and the live clip I left in my other comment may be the best version of it currently up.

Watching Hal-Ca play just makes me feel...inadiquate.

Just came here from your earlier reaction to them. Congratulations on finding the best new power trio since (in my opinion) Cream. Background (forgive any overlap with what you already have):
They are an instrumental power trio from Fukuoka, Japan. They consist of:
    Haruka Noma, guitars (“HAL-CA”)
    Miyu Yoshinaka, bass
    Mio Yoshinaka, drums
They were formed in 2014 when Noma was 11 and the brothers were 12 and 14 respectively. They were all playing at a talent fair for young musicians in their hometown, when one of the music scouts noticed them, had a hunch and suggested they play together. Most of their current youtube catalogue is fan-made live video footage, much of it at the Hard Rock Café in Fukuoka. There are also a few clips from their one tour in the U.S., when they played Austin and Los Angeles. From the start, they have written most of their own music, covering a wide range of styles.
The brothers bring a lot of jazz and funk ideas into their playing. Miyu plays 4,5 and 7-string basses, which are co-lead instruments in his hands. They are all phenomenal talents, but the big draw has been Noma, known by her first name Haruka or by her stage name Hal-Ca. She has been likened to a reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, with bits of Joe Satriani, Nuno Bettencourt and Akira Takasaki, among others, thrown in. Even in the Japanese scene, with its overload of extraordinarily technical instrumentalists, she stands out. She also writes most of the band’s music.
Best clips to start with (these include different versions of the two you just did in this reaction):
“Rising Moon” (their first professional MV): th-cam.com/video/IfxMi0Bx4x0/w-d-xo.html
    “Blaze” (Live): th-cam.com/video/51Pxkp8lGAs/w-d-xo.html

Please God, in my next life, give me her right hand! OMG!!! Soooo much technique and attitude, out of such a young girl, at the time of this video. Some people were just spit out with this kind of potential. She had to work for it, but there came a moment, in her young life, where it all just started clicking. I would love to see a video documentary of her progression. I'll bet it was amazing. When I learned, other musicians said I crammed five years into one long , wake up and fall asleep, with a guitar in my hands, summer. I was a sponge at 14. My problem was, I only listened to blues and R and B, at the time. If I had listened to other styles, when I was young, I might have actually been a Nat on Her ass, talent wise. Now, I'm not even in the same universe.
Last point to all musicians watching this video, to include the influencer, just throw away all your guitars and pick up some other career! This is freakin' ridiculous!!!!

Saw them in NY 2 weeks ago. They look like some junior high school garage band, But the moment they started playing, they transformed into rock/metal gods. All 3 members were amazing.

Kick ass as well as very, very skilful. Blow me away every time. Especially her guitar skills. And the drums. And bass. PS Google Jerry Garcia Wall of Sound. A skyscraper of amps. Not long sfter bands like The Beatles were haaving to play via Shea Stadium's tannoy system.

Better would have been Dawn live and the Rising Moon music video but any Asterism is great and appreciate you reacting to them. More please.

LOL JD you have indeed fallen DEEP into the Black Hole of J-Metal/Rock. You've discovered that you are Years behind in enjoying some of the best music in the World. Fortunately, it has become a time where you can still explore such things. Really enjoying your Journey. That old Yamaha Pacifica she plays is the 'secret weapon' of a lot of Studio players. Not expensive originally, but WOW sound comes out of it.

Hal-Ca was around 15 here and Miyu 16. They composed this as teenagers. My friends and I were not playing, let alone witing, sh*t like this at 15!

Looks like you haven't been given the full data dump on Asterism. Allow me:
    Asterism is:
Haruka (Hal-Ca) Noma, lead guitar and vocals, born 11/23/2002
    Miyu Yoshinaka, bass, born 3/12/2002
    Mio Yoshinaka, drums, born 11/14/1999
All started playing at a young age (Haruka at 10, Mio and Miyu at 6-8). They all attended the Yamaha Music Foundation school in Fukuoka. They originally performed separately (Mio and Miyu, Haruka) but were put together to perform in the annual Yamaha Music Revolution competition in 2014.
They played several festivals and competed in various music competitions until the release of their first EP, The Session Vol. 1, in 2017. It included three covers and two original songs (155 and Magic Bullet) both written by Haruka. She wrote 155 when she was 11 and they can be seen playing it in this video th-cam.com/video/2gBCmUWqtJU/w-d-xo.html when they were 11, 11 and 13. Their second EP, the Session Vol. 2 was released a year later and included two more original songs (Rising Moon and Yunagi). Their first full length album, Ignition, was also released in 2018 and included seven original songs and two covers. All the original songs on these EPs and album were written by Haruka between the ages of 11 and 15. Ignition is mostly traditional hard rock and metal and includes Dawn, Blaze and Light in the Darkness. The fancam videos of Dawn, at Club Utero, and Blaze and Light in the Darkness, at Fukuoka Graf (Welcome to Inferno Vol. Max), are classics. They toured Asia and the US supporting the release of Ignition. They produced a series of live in studio performances of most of these songs (battle sessions and 360 videos) and all are available on TH-cam.
They next released an EP (Guernica) and then a full-length album extension of the EP (Guernica+a) in 2020. These releases marked a change in style to a more progressive metal/rock sound and includes classics such as Church and Gunfire. All the songs on these releases are original songs. They did live in studio performances of almost all the songs on Guernica+a and these are available on TH-cam.
Asterism is perhaps best before a live audience. Haruka has amazing charisma and stage presence for anyone, not to mention for a small (under 5’ tall) Japanese woman. She plays with skill, soul and a ferocious attitude.
Most recently Asterism has released an album of anime song covers (Animetic), an extended version of that album with the singer PelleK providing vocals and an EP of original songs with Haruka on vocals called Aside. There are official music videos of most of the songs on Animetic. They play frequently at clubs in Tokyo and did a small US tour with shows in LA and NYC and performances on the street in Venice Beach and Hollywood Blvd.
Haruka particularly has a significant presence on social media with an active Instagram channel and her own TH-cam channel. She frequently posts playthroughs of their own songs and a lot of covers.
Recommended songs for reactors, in chronological order include:
    • 155 (RH in 2014) - see one of their earliest performances of one of their first original songs
    • Rising Moon (Official MV) - a well-produced music video of one of their other early songs
    • Blaze and/or Light in the Darkness (Welcome to the Inferno Vol. Max) - two exceptional performances (fan cam) at a small club before an enthusiastic hometown crowd
    • Dawn (live 4/20/2019) - a good quality fancam of their performance of Dawn at Club Utero
    • Church and/or Gunfire (live in studio) - professionally produced live in studio performances.
    • Scuttle Buttin’ (SRV cover) - fancam of a SRV cover with their own flavor
    • Unravel (official MV) - professionally produced music video of an anime cover off of Animetic
    • Fiction (official MV) - first official MV of a song with Haruka vocals
There are tons of other videos of live performances and several additional live in studio and fan cam videos. Just about anything by Asterism is fantastic.
Asterites (or what do we call ourselves?) feel free to correct or add to this.

Believe it or not this is one of the weaker performances of 'Dawn' on the internet.
