I won my 1st National here at this race 14x!! I raced here from 81 til 2012!! Best days of my life racing Bmx!! God bless ABSOLUTELY LOVE WATERFORD OAKS!! MY HOME TRACK!!!
Popeye The Sailor man I remember seeing Darrell Young a couple times at ABA events in Texas when he rode for JMC back in the early 80's. At that time I was in the 15x class, he was AA Pro and from California. I was amazed at his smooth, fluid riding style. I also revered the JMC bike, but never owned one myself. At that time I think I was riding a Hutch or a Vector.
Stu Thompson he was the man, Mr BMX in my day, watching this has brought back the best memories from all these top pro's 👍
The era when bmx became huge! Sure miss riding & racing back in the 80’s
The golden era of BMX was a fantastic time to be a teen, and racing I loved it.
The names in these races are legends. Super cool how every rider would be on a different bike 👍🏼

That start hill is gnarly
Yeah, that's the way me and my buds used to race
Both Nelson Chanaday & Rich Farside were far better Riders than this line - up also were Mike Poulson & Darrell Young.
