Nice work. Even without the microphone, the new Snake Mountain is way better than the vintage. Less fragile and mch more features. Too bad they didn't paint the snake with yellow part like the old one.
I think they were trying to make it look like the Filmation/Classic Snake Mountain snake, which had the ridged collar and was entirely green. I agree, though. It should have been more like the original.
When I was a kid I was desperate to get Snake Mountain. So much so that when I found it, I convinced my mom to let me get it on "credit," as I'd only saved up two weeks allowance to get it (which was $10.00). She agreed to buy it for me, but I wouldn't get any allowance until I had effectively paid her back for it, plus the interest she charged my for the advance on my allowance. So I basically blew my $10 plus another 8 weeks of allowance to get it. I didn't care, as I had to have Skeletor's lair. As soon as I got home and opened the box, I regretted my decision. Snake Mountain was definitely my least favorite MotU toy. Compared to Castle Grayskull it was just a sad facade with a boring gimmick that didn't really have any play value. I'm glad to see the Origins version wasn't just a carbon copy of one of worst playsets of the 80s.
yes, I have to know getting this on credit, did it affect your adult spending habits? Are you very careful and avoid using credit when you can? If you do, then Snake Mountain was well worth it for your future self.
@HeBroTV the credit card game is tough, but there are options like there were not back in the day. For instance the PayPal buy it in 4 payments or others. My credit card allows anything over a certain amount to be interest free as long as I pay it off in monthly payments. That's the only way able to pay for Eternia. If you have good credit look at what your credit card allows you to do. So many people don't take advantage of having a credit card with good credit.
@@HeBroTV Oh it definitely effected how I handle my money and taught me to evaluate and research items before I purchase them. To this day, I'm very hesitant to buy most things on credit. My parents were both older when they had me, both had grown up poor. Like any parents they wanted their kids to have a better childhood than they had. But having been children during the last half of the Great Depression, my folks wanted me to learn how to be financially responsible early in life, as well as appreciate the rewards of such. Those lessons have stuck with me for the rest of my life

Origins Snake Mountain beats Original in that the Origins version has a top floor for the inside along with the bone throne . Original Snake Mountain beats the Origins one with its main selling point , which is the Wolf Microphone . Not even Classics Snake Mountain , as great as it is , can top that particular feature .
To be or not to be, that is the question... On a more serious note, improvement versus nostalgia may not always be as obvious as it seems on the surface. This video illustrates that perfectly.

Regarding the comment someone made saying that the 2023 Snake Mountain looks like "Fisher Price" toy, that is honestly one of my issues with Origins in general. In many ways, as an updated version of the vintage line with better articulation, etc., it is great. But there is something about the brighter colors that just give the line as a whole, including most of the figures, sort of a "preschool toy" vibe that the vintage line never had. At least in my opinion.
That’s one thing I have a theory about. Are people aware that plastic changes colour over time? It loses colour, it yellows, it does all kinds of things over 35-40 years. Look at old Super Nintendos for example; they weren’t meant to be yellow back in the day.
I see what you are saying, but not every SNES becomes yellow (I have my original one that I got shortly after launch on Christmas 1991 that did turn yellow, and a slightly later model, that I bought used many years later, that never did). And even the SNES consoles that do turn yellow typically have some portions of it that stay the normal color. The point is that you aren't going to have every single vintage MOTU figure (or even just most of them on average) discolor in the exact same way over the years. Plus there are photos taken back when these things were new, and so on. While the vintage line was colorful, they did not use nearly as bright of an overall color palette as Origins is now. If they had used that bright of a color palette, then that would have also been used as the basis for MOTU Classics, for example, since that line was initially based on the vintage figures. But Classics has a darker (compared to Origins) color palette that is more in line with the actual vintage line.
There are some poinst that I don't like of Origin version. The Texture are not so sharp like the Vintage version. The last stairs are narrow than the Vintage. The Nose of the Monster is Flater than the Original. The rest is pretty awesome. I love the Cage. The Bridge is stable. The Accessoires are also great. ❤
I I love my old one I had when I was a kid I had lots of fun with it and how to make I made the table and I made the throne when I was a kid how to say the new one has it and the fact that the the cage goes up under the trap door and said of the net you can't beat the throne
I really wish they would have scaled these origins playsets to the origins figures a little better. I wouldnt have minded paying $25-50 more if it wouldve made the path/bridge a little wider. These would be a great scale for the mega construx or even the eternia mini figures. But going back to your point dread video, i tgink it is bogus of mattel to have put that out and an origins figure cant even fit inside when attatched to castle grayskull without modification. I understand they are trying to put out these products at the cheapest price point possible while maximizing profits, but im sure most people buying these wouldnt mind paying a few dollars more to avoid these dissappointing shortcomings.
Guess, the New playsets are better than the Originals because of the improvements and size as well as with the vehicles, much bigger. Almost awesome minus the battery operated ones. But not the same also with the individual figures. Yes the articulation is nice but it affects the aesthetics, seems like modern figures appears like "humanoid robots".Some figures also did not retain their original gimiks.
The new mountain 1 has no speaker that's nastalgia the face looks cartoonage the main gate reason why it's taller it's pointy but still the old or vintage will always be better in my opinion
