honestly "hello world" has kept me up at night thinking about how lonely this lil robot dude is but i can sleep so much easier now that i know that he has a jazzy bird friend, thank you
Absolute masterpiece. I love how you express the feeling of alone, with the single little robot surrounded by these almost mindless computers. You’ve somehow made a robot relatable.
I've always been a fan since "Hello World" so I'm glad to hear another song with a digitized voice :). I was wondering though how and what methods do you use to get that voice? (Thank you for the help in the replies)
yoooo an official sequel to "hello world"! what i appreciate about that song is its references to coding. SO here are some references to computer networking that i recognise in this song (forgive me if it's not very accurate, i'm still studying). sorry it's long, i'll make a tldr at the end ahah title - "signal/noise" a signal is a transmission of data sent between two computers/node on a network. for digital signals, the node sends out specific sequence of electric pulses at a physical level, representing 0s and 1s for the other node to translate. noise is unwanted interference with a signal during transmission. this happens when cables are too close to each other, long distances, electromagnetism, etc. visuals - a bunch of same computers with a computer that's different in the middle perhaps symbolism for a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack? everyone probably knows already, but it's when a hacker zombifies lots of other nodes to overwhelm a victim node with transmission traffic to shut it down. meaning the saxophone bird symbolises the hacker lol 0:33 - "sharing peer to peer" peer-to-peer (P2P) is a decentralised network model. it lets all nodes in a network share resources (i.e. files) and workloads equally, with each node handling their own local access to said resources. this is opposed to a client-server network, where the resources are kept in one place for other nodes to ask for access to. 0:39 - "with nothing in exchange, i'm giving out my heart" this reminds me of SYN floods, a type of DDoS attack. it's where a hacker sends a data packet with an invalid source that asks to sync (hence SYN) with a server. to confirm the connection, the server sends back an acknowledgement packet to the source node... which doesn't exist. the server will keep waiting for a response that will never arrive, ignoring real requests and eventually overloading itself. probably my fav cyberattack ^-^ 0:49 - "while poisoning my brain" poisoning is a type of cyberattack where a hacker injects malicious data to exploit a network's protocols. for example, Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is the computer's "rule" for finding a physical address based on IP address. ARP poisoning is where the physical address of its ARP cache is illegally modified, rerouting all the transmissions it is supposed to receive to a node of the hacker's choice. 1:00 - "i'm real, i'm fake" a honeypot is a 'fake' decoy node that simulates 'real' behaviours to lure attackers away from actual computers in the network. since no one but hackers have a reason in interact with them, they reveal suspicious activity to the network admin. they're usually placed outside of network firewalls so internal data isn't compromised. conclusion: our robot friend is a honeypot designed to be the first target of cyberattacks. he has lived his whole life sacrificing himself, all to protect a network that doesn't seem to be taking any other measures to help with the situation (i.e. installing flood guards, repeaters, etc). with all of his peers turned against him, he suffers in static silence, with only the perpetrator of his suffering to keep him company... tldr: THE LIL GUY IS SELF-SACRIFICING AND ISOLATED FROM SOCIETY, MAKING HIM VICTIM TO A DOMESTICALLY ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS HACKER OH WOW
Also "Terminally ill" likely refers to a computer terminal. Possibly some kind of issue that's making the computers terminal ill (Probably the poisoning cyberattack?).
@@birdnt5528 Yeah but I don't blame you, you caught many I wouldn't have plus there is simply so many packed in this song. (Plus its more of a guess as terminally and terminal have a bit of separation.)

In life one must find a balance between the signal and the noise, the good and the bad, and they both always come together if you know where to look. I’m throughly convinced that all the robot songs (Hello, World, Signal/Noise, Computer Soul, Lost Connection) hits deeper for me than a lot of people could express; being autistic & socially inept, it’s hard for me to understand people around me & vice versa. Making me feel bad when I have the best intentions. Hello, World feels a lot like masking, suppressing emotions when you first start & questioning whether your reality is real or not. Signal/Noise deals with social anxiety & peer pressure around, not sure how to take social cues or commands well; so one just sits there unless directly asking them a question & the only solace of unmasking / stress relief being music & singing out ideas, just how Autism allows one to hyperfocus on one subject as their means of keeping calm & control. Computer Soul is a positive take that finding friends is possible, finding those you vibe with the most & loving every second of their creativity. Finally, he feels like part of a group who understands him. Yet, in Lost Signal, when all of them goes home; he’s left alone again & the thoughts creep in that no matter what; he’ll always feel like he’s in a bubble or being too obsolete to catch up with the rest of his peers & that feeling never truly goes away as you grow up with autism. This feeling of isolation & not being understood or even looked down upon, it’s all there in his view, yet never within his mental grasp. All of this is to say: Thank you, Louie Zong for making such wonderful music that just speaks to so many people & I’m hoping that maybe an entire concept album of the Computer is in the future; just so I can keep falling in love with your work over & over. ❤❤❤
Even though Virtual Singer is less popular and has that vintage feel compared to Vocaloid, Utau, Cevio, SynthV etc. it would definitely still be good for songs like these. I also like that it's being depicted as a small droid like Denki Sai and Fendroid.

I don't know how seriously this is supposed to be taken, but the lyrics really speak to me; giving out your heart while poisoning your brain, searching for a signal in the noise. Man, I need to take a break from the internet or something, lol Oh, and the animation was so cute!! Loved the colours.
I don't know if this was the original intent behind the song, but I believe this song also makes sense when talking about the recent change of communication in humanity as a whole. "Sharing peer to peer, with nothing in exchange" is someone showing their friends a piece of media they found, a funny joke that dorsn't have any real purpose other than short term dopamine. "Termanilly ill, Plugged in and online, know everything there is to know, except my own mind" Most likely, almost everyone in the world has some sort of device that they can use to communicate online with, and we've become addicted to them. We have boundless amounts of information just waiting there on the web for us to find, but instead we choose to spend our days laughing, crying, and arguing over things we see online instead of *learning*. We become so passionate about these dopamine hits but in the process end up injuring our own potential to become the best version of who we can be "Giving out my heart, while i'm poisoning my brain". I don't know, I think i'm wrong, but that's what I interpreted from the song. Anywho, have a great day/night and thank you for reading :)
God I would love to know what instruments were used in this song. Especially the part before the saxophone solo. Heard something like that in my grandma’s record collection once as a kid and I’ve been looking for songs with similar tunes. Best I can describe to people is “it sounds like something you would hear on a relaxing yet mystical night in the 50’s”.
Here are all the ones that I can hear. Vibraphone Some sort of rhodes synth Bongos (or a similar instrument) Double Bass The genre you might be looking for is called bossa nova!

Vibraphone
Some sort of rhodes synth
Bongos (or a similar instrument)
Double Bass
The genre you might be looking for is called bossa nova!
I would kill for an instrumental version
Came for the return of the Hello World robo-singer, stayed for the soulful sax solo at the end
louie, thank you for giving my brother and his axe a spot to shine. listening to this makes me so unbelievably proud of him 🥲 you are just as talented, your composition is incredible! much love 🙏🏽

Hey Louie, have you listened to the Hawaii pt. ii album? I ask bc some of your songs, like this one, are so reminiscent of the pieces on there and it's one of my favorite albums of all time! Meaning, by transitive property,
I really love your sound dude. 😁
Oh and if you haven't listened to Hawaii pt. ii, maybe give it a try? All right I hope you have a nice day
Stranded Lullaby is one of my favorite songs ever - I’d be thrilled if Louie even touched on that style.

@@corbsshas2811 just NOW found banana man, and I am ashamed I didn't find it sooner lol
Louie do you use any vocalbox to give that robotic tone to the voice?
Magic! spells
