- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is filled with beautiful tracks, but we never get to see the backgrounds; until now that is! We even included a few tracks from Booster Course Pass.

Baby Park has a lot of details even if it's a very short track

This just makes me wonder why tracks like Maple Treeway and the Electrodrome haven't showed up as levels in a 3D Mario game, they would be SO MUCH FUN to explore!
there is a glitch you can do where you can explore the bottom of maple treeway by slowly braking and falling off the edge, and bypassing the out of bounds plain, and you can actually explore a good portion of it too

If you ever do another one of these, you gotta try Big Blue. It has perhaps the largest and most insanely detailed background of any track in the game.
It’s crazy that that map can run in 60FPS
He should try Battle Stadium and all of the other battle stages too
And he should go into the Wii U Mario Circuit, Cloudtop Cruise, Shy Guy Falls, Toad's Turnpike, and Dolphin Shoals backgrounds too
I can't believe how much detail these tracks have. You literally race on this tiny track yet they put a massive city with individual houses, streets, trees and even moving cars and trains where you can't even see them.
Step 1: Remove Lakitu
Step 2: Add Textures and collision
Step 3: Remove unwanted Collison
Step 4: Hide and Seek
Optional Step 5: Make Rainbow city a course.
One issue: the minimap.
The Mario Kart Wii Modding Community managed to remove it so its possible

I think this is the closest we're going to get to a new Diddy Kong Racing story mode.

I'm sad now that you didn't show the Koopa Troopa Beach(N64) in Sunshine Airport😢 you can see the stone Koopa in the background, next to those islands as a Easter Egg. I was curious how it would look like driving next to it. But fun video regardless!

I’m fascinated by things like this, but one of the best games with these kinds of robust backgrounds is Splatoon. One of the backgrounds has an entire fleshed out city with moving cars that you can only see the tops of the buildings in-game.
This really makes me want to have an open world Mario Kart game!

Just because lakitu is gone, does not mean mario is removed from the roster
So it’s still Mario kart, just without boundaries

The craziest and most op skips can be done without lakitu because trying to skip or falling off the map in Mario kart makes lakitu come with his rod and take you back up

I saw some annoying person who doesn't even know how to play Mario Kart post the same mod video but didn't even tell us who made the mod, of course Mayro already did a video of it before him so I knew it was him. GREAT VIDEO AS ALWAYS!
Despite Nathaniel being very nostalgic for Mario Kart 64, he did not go to Koopa Rock which is on Koopa Troopa Beach which is in Mario Kart 64. Stage is Sunshine Airport and is one of the background islands.

Not only can you not access them, you can't even SEE a lot of that stuff! There's a level of detail there that they must have known wouldn't be seen by 99.9% of players since a lot of those small additions would surely be smaller than a pixel from track height.
I guess those graphics people must really love their job (I guess I would be too if I got to work on Mario Kart)

I was just thinking about how sick a full game of Mario Kart battle mode would be, with big levels and more players and crazier weapons (and probably special character-specific items like they had in Double Dash)! Maybe it could be something along the lines of those old Twisted Metal games on PS1/2

Honestly, I can't even put into words how amazingly detailed all of these tracks are, like they really make you feel like you're just racing on a tiny part of land, but they really went above and beyond, like I don't even know if you can see that sign in baby park that says how much you have to pay to get something, or the cars and toad houses in N64 rainbow road, or the character houses in mario kart stadium. I also know that Mute city has like, an entirely different F-Zero track in the background, a desert called fire field, and I don't even think it's that noticeable. It's absolutely nuts.

The amount of detail in these tracks is so cool, didn't know some of these details existed. The fact that Waluigi's attraction in Water Park is driveable is so cool!
That first city is insane. So much potential for battle modes, racing, missions, and other things.

Well that are some great details. I'm always surprised what developers program that's never been able to be seen ny anyone normally. Maybe now it might be a bit easier to located the tracks to each other on a big map.

I once rode Space Mountain at Disney World and the lights were on for some reason instead of everything being pitch black. It was weird because you could see everything you're normally not supposed to be able to see. This kind of reminds me of that.
