Another killer story of the typical guy trying to get something for nothing a recipe for disaster most of the time! A fantastic life lesson right there Rob!
Rabbit you are so right about matching the vin under the windshield to the vin on the title. I went to buy a 69 RS/SS Camaro convertible that was two hours away from my home. The first thing I did before I handed the money over was verifying that the vin number on the title matched the vin on the car and that he was the legal owner titled in my state. I have been buying and selling cars for nearly 50 years and I have never had an issue doing it this way. By the way Rob great show!
Rabbit, I watched the entire season of Tex Mex Motors in one day. We need another season. Great show. Cast is 👌. Cars were 🤌. Really hope we get another season.
Loved the New Netflix show. Was such a success. Just shows that Anything is possible. Your rise to fame was a crazy ride and I wish you could be here to see your channel reach 1 million subscribers because you definitely will get there. Nothing but Love Rabbit.
You reminded me why I don't do sales or mechanic work anymore. I hated those ask holes. I'd qoute them 3 hours of labor and parts and they would take it to a friend. When they came back and I had to fix their friends' mistakes I would charge 4 hours labor up front. I hated fixing some dudes meth head friends f ups.
It astonishes me how many people are buying vehicles sight unseen off of the internet...you don't even know if the vehicle even actually exists or if its in the condition claimed or what the real title situation is. Could be salvage could have a lien. If you're going to spend thousands or tens of thousands of dollars.....make a trip!
Mistake #1- never buy a vehicle from marketplace, heard and know to many people that have had bad experiences with buying cars off there. Great Netflix show btw Rob!!
I work in the insurance industry with trucks and heavy equipment. A big key is condition when you consider the price. Another one is location. Someone in Montana may have something for less. But if your in South Carolina and the same like/kind/quality truck is a little higher, you got to consider the freight it takes to bring it from Montana to South Carolina. By the time you get done that truck from Montana may cost more.
Damn it man. Sucks for him but it was a expensive learning experience… The new show is awesome! I’m currently watching it this weekend! Keep up the GREAT work!!!
Just sat and watched the whole season of the Netflix show. I loved it. You guys did a really good job with it. I hope there are more seasons to come with it. One question.... Is Scooter really like that all the time, or was that for the camera? Anyway, I love the content you put out. Thanks, Rob, for sharing your day to day with us.
Rabbit. That Netflix show is killer. I imagine your partner is just there for comic relief, I imagine that got on your nerves more than anything . Glad to see you kicking ass! Can’t wait for season 2
You need to post a short using the advert for “Borderline Customs” just for s&g ; ) Really liked liked the cliffhanger ending … Damn shame about the bad truck transaction. I brought a little black cloud with me from Miami one time, cost a damn fortune to put right, decided after that I needed a hobby that didn’t require boost and methanol injection…
New here. VinWiki refugee. Does this Rabbit guy ever show the cars? Looks like some really nice wheels in the background there. Entertaining fella for sure. Enjoying it much.
Loved the TexMex show! Great job. Much better than the fake stuff ln there that presumably do "car restorations" I feel like people should come on your channel and watch these videos to get to know you better :))) I have to ask tho was Scooter really duped on those Mustang parts or was it for dramatic effect?
Had something similar happen to a freind who bought a brand new car. Deslership accidentally switched license plates around 2 identical cars. Registration didn't match the vin. He found out when he got pulled over. Dealership fixed everything and gave both people 500 dollars off a service.
That happened at t dealership I worked at. They were two conversion vans. Stock numbers 370676 and 370677. This was 36 years ago and I remember those numbers. The buyer got pulled over for another reason and when they checked the number they arrested him. He had a heart attack in jail and after everything sued the dealership. I remember when it happened because I had to document every stock number on the lot with its VIN and we had over 300 cars.
You don't have to be _careful..._ Like you said: check the title, check the ID, check the VIN. Everything matches up? Sing your name on the back, here's your cash. Anything else? Keep on down the road, there's another one out there.
Love the RED RED 67 chevelle. BTW saw a Pitts Truck Service Truck in the last couple of weeks. Chevelle looks like an original I saw at the Street Rod Nationals in Pueblo CO a few years back.
Had a very similar story when trying to sell a truck I had many years ago. Buyer said he saw the same truck $6k cheaper in a nearby town (keep in mind I'm asking $16k for mine). Said I couldn't come down to that. A friend sends me a Facebook screenshot a few weeks later from the guy asking about how to get a title to a truck that has a lien on it.
liens against a title won’t be on the title as well… if a title has a lein, it can’t be registered in someone else’s name until the lien is paid.. such as a title loan here in Wisconsin.. I check the vin before I buy because people will sell cars this way..
Regarding your story, Cheap people will never learn. Cheap deals become very expensive. You get what you pay for. They never look at the big picture. That cheap deal when you buy it you will have sell it cheap because it won’t increase in value because of all the flaws and poor build quality. In this case, It got really expensive because now he’s out all that money and nothing to show for it. I rather pay top dollar for that legit car because you get top dollar back when you sell it.
As a auto sales guy: 1) let me think about it, or 2) let me talk to my spouse, or 3) I’m not quite ready yet, and more… and then they never buy from you, and then complain about what they got 😂😂😂
It’s smarter to keep fresh vehicles rotating on your lot because guys watch your lot. When they drive by they’re looking to see what you have. If they see something that wasn’t there yesterday that alone has them interested. Every time they drive by they’re talking themselves into that car. Working the numbers out in their head. That’s what you want. If they see the same cars on your lot they’ll get the idea that there’s something wrong with them or the price is too high cause nobody wants to buy them. You don’t want that.
When buying a used car from an individual owner. I will only meet with the seller, at the dmv. And then if I decide to buy it? They got to go inside the dmv with me
No. That doesn't serve him right. Nobody deserves that. I was expecting the story to go that the windshield had been leaking and there was water damage. That would "serve him right".
Im that friend who can find it cheaper.... usually small engine ,car engine, sxs part ....... never waisted anyones time yet ...... but ill also admit when im wrong , i have been stumped a few times
RIP Mr. Pitts….condolences to your loved ones
I’m sure your dad would have been so proud of you being on Netflix! I’m proud of you on his behalf!
Another killer story of the typical guy trying to get something for nothing a recipe for disaster most of the time! A fantastic life lesson right there Rob!
Looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it ain't a pig..... Keep killing it Rabbit!

Yeah I miss this good old boy's voice. A lot
Rabbit, I watched the entire season of Tex Mex Motors in one day. We need another season. Great show. Cast is 👌. Cars were 🤌. Really hope we get another season.
I really enjoyed Tex Mex. More please.
Congrats Rob! Its been fun to follow along on your journey! The sky is the limit!
Finished watching the series. Absolutely loved every minute of it. So happy for your well deserved success. The best story teller of all time. 👍👍👍

Yay, thanks for the update Rob.

Congratulations Rob! Very Happy for you! Enjoy the success!
Mistake #1- never buy a vehicle from marketplace, heard and know to many people that have had bad experiences with buying cars off there. Great Netflix show btw Rob!!
I just scored a killer deal on a Mercedes Clk350 on marketplace. My first purchase there. 109k miles super clean $4500.
2009

Congrats again on the show. The team killed it.
El Paso loves the show! Can't wait for season 2!

He’s just like that on and off the camera lol
you act surprised you have fans from new Zealand rob been watching your storys since you begun not to long ago now. cheers great stuff.
Rabbit. That Netflix show is killer. I imagine your partner is just there for comic relief, I imagine that got on your nerves more than anything . Glad to see you kicking ass!
Can’t wait for season 2
I'm recovering from back surgery and can't work or I'd have Netflix to watch tex mex motors Rob. Love the TH-cam channel!
Netflix wasn't enough. Watched it in two days! I kept telling my wife rabbit is youtube famous and a great storyteller
Alright Rob! Up here in Alaska at the moment, watching overlooking the Inside Passage!
This is why dealers make a profit. They take all the risk.
Just finished watching season 1 of tex mex. Great series. That commercial made me spit out my beer. Funny shit.....😂
The show was great ready to see more!

watched the show yesterday, good stuff
These stories should be required for kids in school. lot of good life lessons from the hard knocks school.
Excellent story and life lesson.
Absolutely 💯 correct! When you buy the cheapest, be prepared to pay.
Its better to get the 2 quick nickels over that 1 slow dime. Its genuinely frustrating trying to negotiate a deal for a cool car sometimes.
I love it. Whens season 2?😊
Great story Rob I loved it
Congrats on your special!!!
Finished ur series my rabbit.. when is the nxt drop. Thanks for saying newzealand
Love u rabbit from newzealand 🌎
keep in mind that certain state, like AL do not require a title to register a vehicle over 25 years old. Bill of sale if sufficient.
Still has to have a vin plate
Luv the new show ❤❤❤❤
Man,We lost this Master Storyteller and that sux..RIP
The saying is...quality is remembered long after price is forgotten

Time is money !!! Sometimes the search and shopping costs you. Same goes with restoring a car the basket case isn’t as good as a solid complete car.

Hey Rob, I enjoyed the txmex series ! Congrats man
Forever rest in peace rob!
Same thing happened to me on a old Chevy truck. Hauled that thing 500 miles to trade .. hauled 500 back..
I love TexMex watched the first day it came out i’m waiting for that Ferrari next season.
Really liked the show will there be a second season
I just binged Texmex Motors yesterday. Tell me theres more coming!!
Wish I knew you had a channel before now
You’re the man Rob! Best wishes :)
You don't have to be _careful..._
Like you said: check the title, check the ID, check the VIN. Everything matches up? Sing your name on the back, here's your cash.
Anything else? Keep on down the road, there's another one out there.
‘’Let me think about it.” In other words I have bought too much crap over the years that was a waste of money and had to sell at a loss to meet bills.
I'd listen to this guy talk about how grass grows, he's just got one of those voices and ways of talking.
you know what they say if its too good to be true it usually is
Good morning Rob

So is this why there are so many square body Chevy's out there with different color cabs? I think these are the most parted together rigs of all time.
Man that's an expensive lesson
The truck was STOLEN!! GASP! I NEVER SAW THAT ONE COMING.
Rabbit, how do you confirm titles and vins when you are buying across country without seeing it yourself?
Rip Robb Pitts
Always a great story
Loved the show
Follow up on this one...hope the owner can track down the scam seller
Loving the Netflix show!
RIP Legend
I got NICB on the home page of my phone. Good little tool to check for reported stolen vin numbers.
The "askhole" is one who focuses on the effort, not the result.
Ouch, by the way f..king loved the Netflix show, Rj in Oz
That’s what happens when you buy something cheap, and expect top condtion
Netflix is not T.V Rob LOL.

Point here ; “NEVER Call the Cops!” Just keep the truck have a vin plate made and move on! Should have listened to Rabbit!
I like the show so far only watched the first episode so far love that bug ha
Always remember a friend in need is a pest 😜😜
Up yours, Rodent!
First!! Loving the Netflix show!!
Season 2 coming..??
It takes a rabbit to pull
It off
The cheap can turn out expensive! 😄😄
As a auto sales guy: 1) let me think about it, or 2) let me talk to my spouse, or 3) I’m not quite ready yet, and more… and then they never buy from you, and then complain about what they got 😂😂😂
That sucks he got scammed. And yes: if a deal is too good to be true, be wary and skeptical!

After watching the Netflix show i think I have watched about 50 rabbit videos
what is your state.
Whats the name of the Netflix show????
Unfortunately I canceled my Netflix. Get woke. Go broke
No. That doesn't serve him right. Nobody deserves that. I was expecting the story to go that the windshield had been leaking and there was water damage. That would "serve him right".
Just a tip folks don't buy vehicles out of Florida just drugs.
Rather make a fast nickel, than a slow dime.
Im that friend who can find it cheaper.... usually small engine ,car engine, sxs part ....... never waisted anyones time yet ...... but ill also admit when im wrong , i have been stumped a few times
Ask holes I got a few of those always wasting your time but they are always good for some entertaining moments
Rest in peace ole boy
