I’ve never eaten tulip leaves. Shoot if mine had not all passed I’d add them to mine tonight ! We gardeners are such experimenters ! Ok I’m going to try next time 😊
That's a new one on me, I'll give them a try! I imagine it's like with courgette flowers and you just pick the male ones and leave the female one to develop fruit?
I heard during World War II, people in the Netherlands ate tulip bulbs. However, I didn’t know about eating tulip petals. Neat! Where I live in South Carolina, I’m fortunate to get any tulips at all. The squirrels dig them up and eat them if I plant them in the fall. I’ve found that if I plant them right after Christmas (the ground isn’t too frozen to dig) a few do survive until spring.💐
Yes indeed! I did a bit of research before posting (just to make extra sure I wasn't advising people to poison themselves!) and I came across that about people eating the bulbs during WWII. Not sure I'd want to risk trying as you never know what kind of pesticides and fungicides the bulbs have been treated with nowadays. Shame about those pesky squirrels, but good you've found a bit of a way to work round them. Best of luck!
How fascinating! I didn't know you could eat Tulip petals! I love planting edible plants in my garden so sometimes I shy away from flowers. But you have inspired me!
That's a very beautiful petals of tulips, good to know that it is edible, I will research if all tulips are edible, thanks for sharing. The tulips on your salad makes it more appetizing.

@PlasBachGarden omg, they were great. Tasted sweet with tropical notes. Fed them to dinner guests, no allergies, they were all pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to plant/eat more tulip petals. Thank you.
