I’ve always like the pulse. I have a couple aces with them. I still own 4. And just found this version and ordered 1. I’m gonna bag my beat esp. my moderately used esp and then this one for fresh and OS. Great control driver. Not too fast or glidey. Just great for moderate distance control. If you beat an esp it’s the BEST flight ever.
I found an esp pulse in the lake at greenfield with big jerms name and number on it from when he was on team discraft. Texted to see if it was really him. It was. Told me to keep it and I guess he had let his friend borrow it or something and never gave it back lol
I found 1 last year when I started playing, held it until I could meet up with the owner, threw it once, and immediately jumped on ebay to order 1. I now have 4 of the original ESP plastic, and I ordered 4 from Ledgestone, just to make sure I never run out.
Hunter, how do you not have a range finder yet? Figured you guys would have one laying around the office. Good review, very informative. Only critique would be, get a range finder for exact distances.
The first runs of the T-Rex made by Innova had a molding flaw wrinkle divot in the top of the rim which made it more operable and Discraft copied that design, flaw and all and called it the Pulse. It was a more over stable Surge which was Discrafts knock off of the Wraith.
The ring probably impacts the glide more than anything I’m not an expert but glide has to do with creating a difference in the air pressure on the top and bottom. You want the air moving faster over the top of the disc to create less pressure and moving slower underneath the disc creating higher pressure so it stays in the air longer the groove probably is designed for the air to move faster over the top of the disc
Maybe the ring provides drag to limit the air speed over the top flight plate at high speeds? Interesting that it flew the same for both power levels. Kind of like a restrictor plate in an engine. Need to have someone with crazy power try it out so we can see.
The crush was my first love, the first disc I spent too much time looking for in the woods. I now spend too much money on eBay to keep them in my collection haha
I used to have a esp one of these, I compare it to a slower Force. Goes far has a good amount of fade at the end. like a XCAL from innova also. That inner ring is just a gimmick for people who like thumb tracks. Doesn't really affect the flight i dont think, just for better hand grip. Similar to gt banger. I used to like it for forehands around 300 foot, and second shot approaches, similar to raptor also.
When you review discs if you throw a bad shot you should just cut it out and keep throwing until you get good shots with it so we can actually see what they will fly like with gokd shots...I feel like when you just leave ok throws I'm and say good enough we dont get a good representation of what the disc is actually supposed to fly like.
I disagree it shows what the disc does on different throws. You won't always throw perfect so it's nice to see how the disc does if you miss your line.
@@andrewcrump5954 agreed, and not everyone throws exactly the same, maybe someone can only throw it 350, so only showing the flight path for 400+ throws does them no good
@@Colton-fm8dh The one I threw reminds me of a faster Esp buzzz. Literally held any line i threw it on. But I mean arm speed and technique can change any flight I suppose. Hope that helps
He put out a video explaining how he throws so far and he says 99% of his shots he holds the rim with his pointer and tucks the other fingers close to the flight plate. Not really fanned out but not on the rim. It’s kind of awkward at first but it’s the only way I throw my drives now.
I've noticed that a lot of the ESP ledgestone discs that recently came out wound up being much more understable, I got a Venom which is labeled online as a 12 4 0 4 and when I threw a hyzer forehand it turned all the way over and rolled, it was really disappointing
Throw the star lite boss!!! It’s so much fun to throw! It’s 130-139 g, so you can put a lot of hyzer, it’ll flip up, and it glides with a huge overstable finish at the end!!!
It’s back! 2022 Ledgestone, just ordered 3!
I found an ESP Pulse yesterday at my local disc golf course...no number or anything...no complaints here!!!
I use the thumb track, especially on forehand
PS really well done in showing the flights and what the disc can do and solid commentary 🎉

you guys should do this with the discraft Crush too!
Shhhh don't tell people. Pulse and crush are my favorite discs
Brodie is the only crush they need.
Crush mold pieces were used to make the machete.

Is this a public field? This looks like a great field to practice throws! Is this CVCC's field?
Lynchburg College! Next to the disc golf course there
@@graysonfortin thanks! I need to check it out!
My all time favorite discs. I mostly use them on a forehand
Why do you not use a bushnell range finder..?
I have bagged 1 for years they are great and I'm pretty sure the groove on the top was to help with windy conditions
Uli used to love the Pulse. Great forehand disc
So many gnats.. props to Hunter for getting through that review 👏
Oh man. Those field stripes. Oh yeah that’s good.
👁👄👁 me watching this when he says anyone throwing over 450’ wouldn’t be watching a disc review anyways.
👁👄👁
Hunter is very self deprecating about his skills. He’s pretty damn good though.
He is a 1000 rated player with a disc golf company... kinda checks out lol
@@ShakespeareanBroncobuster 1000? 970 is more like it. Still better than a lot. But not 1000.
@@lfish21. you get the point
First ace was with a pulse in 2010
It seems (in the backhand) best nose down straight, but I'm highly ignorant about throwing discs. 😁
Apparently Nate Doss bags the Pulse and gave the disc credit for why he won the USDGC
Seems more like a faster thunderbird than a firebird.
100%
Is the ridge more pronounced than the old XClone?
I want to see Trevor vs Hunter in a 18 hole match 😁👌

VVV This is how many bugs Hunter consumed during this video..
Nice! The pulse actually looks pretty good!
Discrafts PD/Thunderbird Lol
That’s the ANAX
Like a faster thunderbird
2006, Pulse
2008, PD
2016, Thunderbird
2018, Vulture
2019, Anax
Trying to be non-biased, but the Anax flew and felt like a re-tooled Vulture.

Maybe it's a overhand disc

Can you review the boss.
I wish they still made cyclones
I just ordered one from the ledgestone drop. I’ve never thrown one, how do they fly?

Is it true that Drew Gibson uses fan grip? If so, how does he get so much distance?

Out of production

Considering the fact that it didn’t stall and finished on an accurate fade for the flight rating, I’d say it’s a fair assessment
