what's crazy about that is that this was the original manga artist's problem.....not the anime production team's. THOSE artists are fully capable of such a simple artistic feat. I've seen many shows in this kind of style....and you don't need crazy advanced gushy lip animations to convey....a kiss...even a passionate one. The head and the mouths are angular....you just overlap a few shapes and voila!....kiss. It was such a dopey thing to omit.

I read somewhere that the way Ed holds his kid mirrors the way Hohenheim held him in their first and last family photo. But where H had tears streaming down his eyes, Ed had a huge smile mirroring his son's. Showing after everything that happened, he regrets nothing.
I think in terms of selim being a homunculus still, yes. He might not have all the philosophers stone souls but a homunculus is just an artificially created human. Selim was never born but was created by father so he is technically a homunculus and can never not be. But it can be noted that the homunculus still only have flesh and blood bodies and without the extra souls from the stone they get injured and die exactly the same as people.
Fun fact: In the manga, the last chapter was what in the anime were episodes 63 and 64. That means that: 1. In the last chapter of the manga pretty much EVERYTHING was resolved, while the last episode of the anime was mainly to close the loose ends and give the series an epilogue. 2. The studio of the anime (Bones) added some scenes, such as Havoc's (It seems like Arakawa-sensei forgot about him in the last chapter). Also, scenes such as Winry's seeing Al body for the first time in years were way shorter in the manga. While I think overall the manga is better, I think Bones nailed it for the finale!
Thankfully Havoc wasn't completely forgotten in the manga. There was a photo where he was re-learning to walk after being healed, coached by Breda and Ross.
In terms of endings to a series, I think this is one of my two favourites along with The Last Airbender. I can appreciate complex morality and how things don’t always work out how you hope, but sometimes it’s just nice for things to just work out well. Characters grow and take the lessons they learned throughout the series while still remaining true to who they are. Nothing wrong with a show leaving you feeling satisfied rather than with mixed feelings imo.
Man, what a journey. I still remember that first reaction I watch of you. You were a little baby back then, but look at you now. You went through a lot to get to this moment, it was in danger of deletion and you had to stop for a while but you got past it. I'm pretty sure what happened with Pride is Ed already learned how to use himself like a philosopher's stone. So he pushed a portion of his soul into pride and grabbed hold of his primary essence. Then he used alchemy to separate it from the philosopher's stone fused to it. Essentially pride is a homunculus with a single soul, and father's influence completely removed.
It's always nice to see people's reaction to the ending of this series. Everything felt perfect and everyone got an ending. I'm just sad they didn't adapt some of the extra stories in the manga like what Al decided to do with his old armor body and Hohenheim and Trisha's souls reuniting cause those two were heartwarming. You're gonna read the manga though so you'd probably see it one day.

I finished the series within around 2 weeks, and then decided to watch your entire series for it. You noted how tall Ed got. It’s been confirmed that Ed’s growth was limited by Al being in the armor. Eds growth/food/energy however you want to describe it - was getting siphoned to keep Al’s body alive. When Al got his body back, Ed was allowed to grow again

This is the only time they’ve come close to interacting as actual siblings. The whole search for immortality is basically just a nationwide-scaled sibling rivalry-
Mustang accepting the treatment from the stone is different from the Elric brothers doing it because mustang didn’t have a choice in performing human transmutation he is a victim in losing his eyes. Where ed and al do have the sin of committing human transmutation .

I really enjoyed your company a lot, I usually don't like it when those who do reactions stop every minute the chapter, but with you it was always interesting and satisfying to listen to your theories, opinions and reflections. So the idea of ‘taking 10 and giving 11’ that Alphonse talks about is something that we’ve seen Ed do twice in the show. The first is when he heals himself after sustaining a lethal injury. The second is when he turns Selim into a baby. In both of these instances, Ed uses his own energy to bend the laws of equivalent exchange. Because if a Philosophers stone is just an accumulation of a bunch of souls, it stands to reason that an individual can use their own life force as a stone. It’s in this way that they theorize they might be able to undo something similar to Nina’s condition. In theory, if enough people were to get together, they could all give a piece of themselves. That combined with an altered human would give enough power to meet the equivalent exchange principle.
I think what I love most about FMA's ending is that it both is and isn't an ending in the best ways. Sure we stop following them, and that particular story is done, but we also see that their stories aren't. We know exactly what they did. They continued to grow, and love and change, all the best parts about being human. And that's what Truth wanted to teach Ed from the beginning, the greatest and simplest truth in life, is in humans learning to love being human

The depiction of Roy with a beard was actually a mistake.🤣 The author did not intend to grow a beard; it was just an accidental smudge under his nose. The incorrect first draft was published in a magazine. The wrong manuscript was then handed to the animation production team, which was working on the animation at about the same time as the manga, and the same wrong manuscript was handed to them, so Roy grew a beard at the ending. The stain was corrected in the manga when it was compiled into a book. That beard is extremely valuable!👍 By the way, now that you've seen it all, why don't you take a look back at ED1? I think you will get goosebumps in the first few seconds.

you got good job for reactions this masterpiece anime. Which hold first place in MAL for such long time. My journey with this series start in 2006 from watching first anime. In 2008-2009 I was reading manga as it ongoing. I was very glad that story go another way then in first anime "Full metal alchemist". I glad to see that adaptation based fully on manga take so much proud from so many people. And it has such good ending and conclusion about their loong journey. My RoyAi (Roy x Riza) heart needs everyone to know that in the manga before Roy and the team transfered to Central, Roy was having a chess match with Grumman. They had a conversation where Grumman was offering his granddaughter's hand in marriage so she maybe the first lady of Amestris. It was never stated in the manga or anime but in one of the guidebooks for FMA Grumman's granddaughter is Riza. Basically...Grumman ships it. The current Furher wants Roy and Riza together. 😏
the ending of FMA is truly special the only other anime with an ending this special for me is code geass but FMA was such a really cool experience b/c of how well it was structured and stuff but the ending is so satisfying
suggestion for anime to watch (or not) The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, aka Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo 24 eps (not as large as FMAB), cool story, humor, -lil bit of fan service- and the ending similar to FMAB, light and happy.

This show is a Top 5 show of all time to me. It is so fucking fantastic, start to finish. If I could have changed two things, it would have been giving Lan Fan more to do in the finale (particularly in that final confrontation between Scar and Wrath, I didn't super care for the motif with the sun, I know many loved it, but idk). And the second thing is that I wish Mustang had stayed blind. Idk, I feel like his ending felt kind of too good, particularly since everybody else seemed to have sacrificed something in the end... Mustang on the other hand seemed to have gotten everything he wanted and more, at no price, really? He's not gonna be held accountable as a war criminal, he's got his eye sight back, his squad is reunited and healed and he is worshipped as a hero... Idk, somehow I'm not satisfied with it?
A wonderful journey is over and I thank you for this experience. If you want to continue making fullmetal content, I would love to see your opinions and reactions to the 2003 version. I believe this version has its own charm, mainly because the story and plot are quite different. It seems to be an alternate universe only more dramatic and tragic. The ending will also be different (in a movie if I'm not mistaken...).
Please watch the Original FMA from 2003 not many people react to it, so there is a large fanbase waiting, and after watching your reactions I think you would absolutely love it.

So the idea of ‘taking 10 and giving 11’ that Alphonse talks about is something that we’ve seen Ed do twice in the show.
The first is when he heals himself after sustaining a lethal injury. The second is when he turns Selim into a baby.
In both of these instances, Ed uses his own energy to bend the laws of equivalent exchange. Because if a Philosophers stone is just an accumulation of a bunch of souls, it stands to reason that an individual can use their own life force as a stone. It’s in this way that they theorize they might be able to undo something similar to Nina’s condition.
In theory, if enough people were to get together, they could all give a piece of themselves. That combined with an altered human would give enough power to meet the equivalent exchange principle.

I think what I love most about FMA's ending is that it both is and isn't an ending in the best ways. Sure we stop following them, and that particular story is done, but we also see that their stories aren't. We know exactly what they did. They continued to grow, and love and change, all the best parts about being human. And that's what Truth wanted to teach Ed from the beginning, the greatest and simplest truth in life, is in humans learning to love being human

The depiction of Roy with a beard was actually a mistake.🤣
The author did not intend to grow a beard; it was just an accidental smudge under his nose. The incorrect first draft was published in a magazine. The wrong manuscript was then handed to the animation production team, which was working on the animation at about the same time as the manga, and the same wrong manuscript was handed to them, so Roy grew a beard at the ending.
The stain was corrected in the manga when it was compiled into a book. That beard is extremely valuable!👍
By the way, now that you've seen it all, why don't you take a look back at ED1? I think you will get goosebumps in the first few seconds.

My journey with this series start in 2006 from watching first anime. In 2008-2009 I was reading manga as it ongoing. I was very glad that story go another way then in first anime "Full metal alchemist".
I glad to see that adaptation based fully on manga take so much proud from so many people. And it has such good ending and conclusion about their loong journey.

My RoyAi (Roy x Riza) heart needs everyone to know that in the manga before Roy and the team transfered to Central, Roy was having a chess match with Grumman. They had a conversation where Grumman was offering his granddaughter's hand in marriage so she maybe the first lady of Amestris. It was never stated in the manga or anime but in one of the guidebooks for FMA Grumman's granddaughter is Riza.
Basically...Grumman ships it. The current Furher wants Roy and Riza together. 😏

the ending of FMA is truly special the only other anime with an ending this special for me is code geass but FMA was such a really cool experience b/c of how well it was structured and stuff but the ending is so satisfying

This show is a Top 5 show of all time to me. It is so fucking fantastic, start to finish. If I could have changed two things, it would have been giving Lan Fan more to do in the finale (particularly in that final confrontation between Scar and Wrath, I didn't super care for the motif with the sun, I know many loved it, but idk). And the second thing is that I wish Mustang had stayed blind. Idk, I feel like his ending felt kind of too good, particularly since everybody else seemed to have sacrificed something in the end... Mustang on the other hand seemed to have gotten everything he wanted and more, at no price, really? He's not gonna be held accountable as a war criminal, he's got his eye sight back, his squad is reunited and healed and he is worshipped as a hero... Idk, somehow I'm not satisfied with it?

I believe this version has its own charm, mainly because the story and plot are quite different.
It seems to be an alternate universe only more dramatic and tragic.
The ending will also be different (in a movie if I'm not mistaken...).
The bloopers are fine but I think the 4koma episodes are funnier.
