love the 1963 vw bugs with the smaller windows real cute great videos jason
Glad they made it there in good shape and live on with you andf Josh.. I been stuffing that bus so long, i'm sure there are hings in there i even forgot about . After I got it packed to the max's ; I thought of changing it's name from Bondo Condo; to Sanford Bus & Son's..
Thank you for the package deal and all the nice work you Guys did on Rubin .I have not gotten into the Bus yet but it sure looks pretty packed :). Jen calls our place Sanford & Son .
Wow I LOVE how You painted it Black at the end.
Congrats on giving Rubin a new home. He needs some work. But well worth it. Great core !! Thumbs Up !
thank you Ron , yeah , I was hoping the rocker wasn't that bad and I wish Rubins inner and outer fender paint was not removed but it is what it is .
Nice acquisition that Ruby '63 Jason. The last '63 I bought I got for $150.00, it had the roof rack welded to the roof channels, and looked like a pack of dogs had been partying inside it, but that was 1975. It's amazing how "disrespected" these great little cars were back then.
It's great to see the survivors that you're collecting.
Oh man I remember Dan selling his toys off. Spoke with him on the phone a few times! Great guy!!
I’m glad it went to you!! Outstanding!
Great video Jason. Dan did a fantastic job on that car. 67 sounds sweet. Bring it on up Mustie and I will take care of that rocker problem. BIG THUMBS UP
Dear VWnut 1967.
I was wondering instantly: Wouldn't great Rubin tight fit in your garage additionally? I guess one simply can't have enough good ruby red bugs!? 😁
Best regards luck and health to all of you (including great Patina of course).
thank you , Dan sure did ....just another played out rocker install on this channel😁
Hi 🙋 5150mxVW & son.
👍👌👏 So much about your private bosses order not to take/bring home any more VWs! 😁😁
But congrats maaan, Rubin is a really nice bug! Additionally with an extremely well prepared engine, gear box, drive train etc.p.p.. Very impressive. Kudos to Busman54. If this engine runs as fantastic as his bus motor (I just watched a 5 month old video on his channel), you are a lucky guy!
Can hardly wait to see your second purchase.
Thanks a lot for making recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health to all involved people.
What a awesome fleet you have there! Can't wait to see the 58 start up!!!!
,,,,,,,,beautiful.......what a car....so clean........dream-on.........................this is anyone's dream car...😯...tnx,pat.
Never Drove a bug before but i love it and i hope to see full restoration video .
when you bought them all up within 200 miles, now you have to ship them in, Hi Jen remember l will even give you what he said he paid when the time comes, oh my favorite color is orange, wink wink,
Yeah, and he's been conspiring with Dubwerks...make that 300 miles before you know it
don't forget I had to pay 85 bucks for the uhaul trailer , the big orange car didn't fit on mine :).
@@5150mxVW
That's still a great deal. He had a lot of fun driving it. We saw the videos.
It's like Christmas!
How did I know you’d end up with some of Dan’s stuff. Sad he had to get rid of most of it but glad it’ll live on at your place.
I saw these on the trailer going through Manchester and wondered if you were somehow involved. Looks good and can't wait to see the follow-up videos!
perfect all you need is more heater channels. and a heater channel factory and you got lots of cars.
Jason it looks like Santa Claus visited you with all those VW presents! Plenty of goodies, I wouldn't know where to start!
Merry Christmas to you... early but jeeze louize....VW heaven...
@@5150mxVW you livin the dream or what? I ain't no mechanci but even I can do a lot on a VW. Please keep this one as original LOOKING as possible. Hot rodding the engine is one thing, doing all kinds of body mods an such is another. As these go, this one is in pretty darn good shape... better when you get the motor together. Battery box area always rots out.. no biggie. However, when you've got it fixed, ad the rest of the pan ready, why not coat with bedliner? seems to me that would stop the acid from eating it up again, and keep the road salt at bay longer.
Hi TT , yeah , some days I wish I had one lol ....I think it's staying as u see it , I like the look and stance as well . I have not driven many lowered bugs but they drive like💩 , especially on the New England roads that are wasted .
@@5150mxVW I don't get lowering a bug anyway, it's not like they sit very high to begin with. I still don't get the lowering rage. They spend big money to put on huge rims, then spend a lot more to make it low or capable of lowering and raising. I don't get the huge rims with nearly non existent tires either. They must ride like crap. I don't see that with bugs so much, but I see guys ruining just about everything else, especially nice Crown Vics. I would enjoy a bug, but I really want a VW van... which one... I dunno. ran up on a nice bug a while back, well it would be nice when somebody finished it. it was pretty much in parts but most of the hard work had been done. Right next to it was one of those VW camper vans, but they weren't selling it. I couldn't afford it if they were I'm sure. Some years ago while yard sale hopping I ran up on a guy that had like ten or 12 VW vans... but even though they were not in very good shape, he wanted the moon for them, not running, rusty, you name it. some were even partly crashed. Ever since that one on Barrett Jackson brought so much money, everybody thinks they have a gold mine if they have one... in any condition. They don't take into account the one that went so high at Jackson was one very rare, and two absolutely perfectly restored. Saw one on a trailer a while back, so I turned around and followed the guy. Had to follow him quite a ways. I don't remember what year it was... in the 60's... but the restoration left a lot to be desired. they basically threw some paint on it so it looked good from a distance, but wasn't so hot when you looked close. Anyway his daughter IS going to own it, she can start driving it when she pays him back. the inside back is fixed up like an old time photo booth. For the time being, he's trailering it to venues for her so it can earn it's keep. Neat idea . Tho it's electronic photos now, it puts out a strip of photos just like the old booths, or you can have other kinds of prints.
I'm not the only one getting stuff shipped in now LOL, you're gonna need a bigger yard!
It's unbelievable how you can find these rarities ... I think this VW beetle was one of the best you found ... congratulations my friend ! Best regards ! Henrique from Brazil 😎👍
The furniture dolly is genius, need a short term cost effective way to move my bug project. Thanks
Similar names, I named my 62 Ruby because I thought her original color was Ruby red. Turns out it's actually anthracite grey, but Ruby will still always be her name
Wow. It's nice to have a wife who lets you have all toys ✌
@@5150mxVW Tell her you're holding them for Bryan & Mustie1 future video projects. 👍
Wow, the awesome VWs just keep on coming, this must be a keeper as it went straight indoors! You’re going to need a bigger shed 5150...That was a great deal, so many fantastic parts, thanks for sharing your passion, love this channel
haha, " went straight indoors " :) . Yes. , we need to revisit the list of 12 and inquire about an extension ....Thank you , the Bus is packed , might see what is inside that today . Find the hardware and get Rubin's motor assembled . Rubin's 1200 is in the van as well . Thank you AB , much appreciated
Rust is the bane of all VWs. Always has been, even back in the day when we were driving them around as daily drivers, 1970s 1980s, rust was the major culprit that needed to be avoided. These days I suppose it is just about impossible to find a rust free bug, unless it is something that has been a recent recipient of a pan off restoration. Now you are talking big bucks if you are looking to buy one of those! Previous owner took good care of all those accessories, all wrapped up. Keep those posters framed or sealed in plastic, or they will become faded, curled and torn before long, hehe.
Hey Jason.....Another cream puff. The VW sure rust out quick. Next vidio will be interesting...Thank You Jason!
iT wasnt this rusty back in 1964 when it was a year old?...mmm those other 55 years were killer rust years.
Jason you crack me up man. Every time my wife says I have a problem with my 6 vdubs I think of you. Lovely car. Can’t wait to see you get the cream of your crop in running and maintained condition.
haha, yes there has been a pic or two taken here to show their wives upon returning home " could be worse honey " . 6 is a nice # man👍.
You have to butter her up before hand lol then take her out shopping after the purchase works every time 😁🤘💯💯💯
can’t believe how many cars you’ve got, Jason. You must have some serious money to keep buying all these! Always enjoy seeing what the new purchases are, but do you think you’ll ever get any of them on the road? As a relative novice, I Can’t help but wonder if you’d be best focusing on just one or two and learning your craft? Maybe Donate an oval to Mustie and see if in return he would give you a few months tuition in mower repair and Volkswagen restoration!
That black bug is hot Dude!
Jeeze.....I only brought home 2 and my wife had a fit......she said one more and “you’ll be outdoors you know”.....ha ha ha
I think what your doing (is great!) qualifies your wife for sainthood ....hmmm St. Jen.....
😀😀😀
Hey hey! I'm from Clovis. Weird to hear that name drop! lol
I believe Jason you've got enough car projects to last you till your at least 120 years old buddy 😁👍👍👍👍👍
Nice stash of parts!! Wow!
(Tomac almost went into beast mode!! The end of the second moto was almost too much for my heart!! Too bad MM took out AC ☹️)
Dude, I want to send you guys something for a fan mail unboxing. Where? 🤘🤘
You have a very nice collection of vw there , which one first to fully restore and drive up the road ? Thanks for sharing and stay safe and healthy 🇬🇧
thank you Dave , I appreciate fully restored cars but they just aren't my thing ....you as well
Hey Jason, love your videos. I was wondering if you could do a few videos on maintenance. I have a 1968 Beetle with a1500. I've got no idea how to set valve clearance or timing. Cheers
Here is a good plan... Have CT come by and take the all apart for you..... Dubwerks weld in the heater channels.... Then HMMM who would put them back together. well at least the first part would work. ha ha
this comment reminds me of my 1st race , a guy rode by me and yelled " YOU SUCK "...well I did , but I stuck with it & went on to win more races than you've had birthday's Mike .....
@@Mikefngarage thanks, I was telling J yesterday how much I've learned from you. So thanks again for that
E-man Deluxe I agree with you. I’ve learnt lots. I keep saying it, everyone wants to be like Mike
Hi Jason....r u going to keep it ...if not let me know ✌️brother
dude your livin the dream ! you do relize that correct ? lol .awesome video .. im still working on my 64 body off resto . im lovin it too .
Nice car - at the moment a bit of a weird mix of new components and some bodywork needed, but sure you'll get this project buttoned up in 2 or 3 days...or not. =;-))
Shame about the grey primer rear end, as rest of paint looks original. Do you think you could find some 2nd hand rear wings in original colour, rather than new paint those? love that vw spotters guide, must have a notchback on it :)
Luckily it was repainted and stripped of the OG paint , so my plan is to just paint the fenders .Thank you BMX'R , I will shoot a little more of that guide , I need to frame it .
I’m in Virginia but my 68 is from Los Angeles.except for a small hole in drivers front there is no rust on heater channels.even under side has no surface rust
What you know about Vw's is just flat wild! (o\!/o)
Acoompanyng you ,Big hug from friend Marcos Polux Brasil 🤜🤛
Hey man great vid as always. Quick question, do you have any more “runners” ( motor ) lying around? I noticed you pulled one out of nowhere in one of ur rescent vids. I’m trying to rebuild the motor outa my 67 but it’s taking longer than I wanted plus it would be great to have a spare. I think you’ve scooped every motor up in the area they are hard to find , at least for me. Anyway let me know if you find something u you wouldn’t mind letting go.
you sure learn how to weld being a bug owner , i had my learning curve (still crap) welding austin mini metro floors and jacking points
You don't know about the "chrome rule"? I've heard that chrome retains heat, which is why you should not chrome starters or alternators/generators, but on the other hand chrome carbs are worth an extra 25 hp :) Rubin looks like a steal - not much left to do in order to drive him around on a regular basis, but on your other Bug w/the bad rockers I was like "Stop doing that!" #crunchy
And you've still got a Bus to go through - maybe the hardware is packed up in there. Last but not least, I know I'd like that spotter's guide - but I also know someone would want its' weight in gold. Any ideas on where I could get one inexpensively?
This is the last thing(I promise!)...your videos should end w/the Black Bug entering the garage - but that's just because I think that's cool.
Hi , yeah that carb was unstamped too , never seen one . I did find the hardware , I looked quickly for the poster online but did not see any for sale . You will be happy to know the black Bug gets some good screen time in todays Bus video . Thank you LC , much appreciated.
Just curious...Have you ever had or worked on a Corvair? We once had a 63? Greenbriar Van. Nice unit.
Did this sit outside? I don’t think my 67 has ever spent the night outside? Very lucky to have a 2 car and 3 car garage. Is the misses out of town? Or was this delivered to your secret shop and storage area?
I had them delivered to my " secret shop "👍....don't worry her Mom will rat me out after she sees the vid😂.
I came inside today to say bye to Jen and head over to the " secret shop " ....she says " what is this about another car you bought " ? .....BYE :)....I told you her Mom would rat me out haha !
Hey Jason nice video man oh man did you get the hook up or what.
@@5150mxVW hey thanks for the reply Jason that sure is a sweet ride good luck with all the repairs. I just bought my first MIG welder this week what a deal 99 bucks I couldn't turn it down brand new with a warranty so I guess I'll be starting the body work on the Silverado soon. Living in the Rust Belt sucks! One thing at least the frame is still in pretty good shape, I've been given the old gal the mustie1 treatment. Jason stay safe stay well and as always. God bless
Rubin looks fine but he has Rubins Rusty Rockers x2
What you like at the metal work?
@@5150mxVW i feel your pain
iv tried to replace rockers before
And lets just say it wasn't fun
lots of tacking and grinding
its not your first rusty beetle im sure you will be fine
I’d like one of those posters! Who makes those?
I'm, not sure , I need to frame this one , good luck on the search , if you find them for sale please share the link , thanks.
Did anybody ever try to improve upon the classic VW engine and make it more powerful, yet still be able to insert it back there? Or, is the original body shape incapable of taking something like that?
Buddy it's Jim Lebanon ct how much for the swamp rat Baja I love it. I know place in vt across the road from my house there is an abandoned house there is like 10 or more bugs there. 9 year's ago thay where all covered in tarps thay are still there as far as I know
You need To hurry up and rent that green house that you were showing in one of your videos so you’ll have some place to put all those vehicles you got way too many you should sell some and your wife would be happy wife happy life
Yeah , I rented a shop instead but that greenhouse would of been perfect for storage
Hi im your big fan from sri lanka but no bike please give me a bike it is very big help😁😁😁😁😁😁💓💓💓💓
Hi do you want to. sell one.
Vw beetle.
I hope you got rid of some stuff before getting into these new ones.......................................
of course Russell , I sold the two 67 Ghia's for 1,000 and bought the Bus , Rubin , new motor in Rubin and new rims for $$,$$$$ ....plus 2200.00 in shipping😂.
I haven’t owned a VW in 35 years. I would love to own an old Beetle. They were so much fun to drive. I had two and great memories with both.
Dear Donald S.
You know, there is this petrolhead on YT selling some of his goodies. I think his name is 5150mxVW if I remember correctly. So you are able to fulfill your dream very easy. Simply contact his wife Jen. 😁😂
chru cas Thanks for the suggestion. It is only a dream for me. Retired guy. Not rich enough lol.
@@donaldsmith5972
Thanks for replying. I'm even an early retired guy (because of health issues. Money wise I'm definitely on the poor side). I guess an old bug is still affordable. But maybe only if one is able to do a little wrenching. Nevertheless: I hope that you will be able to fulfill your VW bug dream some day.
Sincerely yours.
chru cas Thanks but wrenching is out of the question due to health issues. One can still dream! Maybe I will win the lottery!
Funny you should mention that you owned a Beetle 35 years ago, Donald. Lately, I’ve been watching and re-watching my copy of the Karate Kid, and there are several scenes with parking areas that are inundated with Volkswagens. That was still the ear when the classics were plentiful.
