A couple of weeks ago, Simon Says Stamp sent to me two new packs of markers from Tombow, the Galaxy set and the Pastel set. These are not new colors to the Tombow Dual Brush Pen line, but they are new combinations of colors. And they're great groups of colors!
I thought I'd play with the markers by creating some ink smooshed watercolor backgrounds. I used two type of plastic for these. I used a plastic sandwich bag and cling wrap. Both are so fun to work with!

Nice to see markers back in the forefront! Loved doing the squishy technique with the plastic wrap years ago but used Marvy Metallic Markers...DAZZLING! Hope they still make them....
Tombows plus Ziploc and water is a long-time technique of bullet journalers. I never thought to do it on watercolor paper and die cut it. Brilliant!
Thank you Kristina, these cards are simply fabulous. You are very clear in your instructions in how to create both watercolour backgrounds which helps a lot. I did not know about not putting colours together that are not together on the rainbow, so thank you. I am now going to go and look out a rainbow so I can put it on my phone as a reference.
I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos! Thank you for sharing and being an awesome educator!
The sandwich bag and cling wrap techniques are pure gold. I'm familiar with cling wrap usage but the way you used them all together was really cool!
I think I love the light pastels best...I don't know why but they are so soft...they are really beautiful... the other sample is great too but it's the pastels that got me this time.................love it.......................pat
Your cards are absolutely gorgeous Kristina! I will definitely be trying this technique...TFS!
What an awesome way to use the Tombow markers and play….sweet cards, thank you. Love them all!!!🎄
Hello Kristina. I like the way you did these cards. Thank you
Those galaxy colours look fab!
Just when I think you've hit it out of the ballpark with Day 6 or 7 in your Holiday Card Series, you hit me with Day 8! These are so cool, simple, hip. Both samples have inspired me yet again. Thanks so much.
Thanks for showing the new Tombow colors. Great cards.
These are great Kristine. I haven't tried the smooshing technique yet but I think I should try it now. I love how your trees look, the mixture of the colours are beautiful. Lovely cards!
The pastels would make very sweet Christmas angel. : )
My hubby and I once redid our living room by painting a base coat of terracotta and then brushed on copper glaze. We used cling wrap over the glaze. I never thought to transfer that to cardmaking. DUH Thanks for sharing this.
What a great smooshing technique, new to me. I️ was really impressed by the soft pastels. You make me want to break out my Tombow markers again!
I literally said, "WOW" as you uncovered the first one you did with the bag! Just so fun and creative!
Fun, non-traditional cards......these are right up my alley. And making backgrounds is always a blast. Nice to learn new ways to use them. TFS, Heather
You’re absolutely killing it with this series! I only wish I could afford to buy all the dies.
I always look forward to this series. I'm tempted to wait until the end to start my cards, but I know me, and that will be too late! You already have given me tons of great ideas!! Thanks so much!
Beautiful cards Kristina! I'm loving the series - thanks for keeping them coming even though you've been unwell. It's been much appreciated. Hope you're feeling top notch soon.
Finally... this is something I think I can do without screwing up. Thanks
This made me LOL. You CAN DO IT!
I dont have a cutting machine. so i prolly need to cut them. Which i prolly will screw . HAHHA
Simple yet elegant. Thanks for sharing.
This is awesome! I love the color choices and that it doesn’t use many materials. Perfect for beginning card makers!
I love the simplicity of these cards - sometimes, less is definitely more!!
Thank you so much for doing this series, I am doing cards for Jennifer McGuire's Caring Hearts Card drive and you have given me SOOOO much inspiration. Your cards are amazing! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
WOW! I could prep a ton of panels at work with ease! Love this idea!
Great smooshing techniques! Love these colors, the composition of the trees on the cards are simple yet look amazing! Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us!!!!
Those backgrounds were so pretty, I don't think I could have die cut them! I love the trees, though. I am going to give this technique a try.
So totally over the moon with these cards!!! I'm in love with these color combinations. I've got all the markers, now I just need the trees. Thanks for another fantastic video!

So glad to have found your channel. Have done some serious binge watching. Thank goodness you have so much content!! 💌
I love these cards. I have the Galaxy set of markers but haven't used them yet. Well, here's a reason to and a reason to get the pastels, they are so soft and beautiful.
Beautiful cards Kristina, you always have such cool techniques that are easy for us newbies!
Lori Ritchie yeah ikr? But the thing is..... i dont have the items 😂😥. Im pretty poor 😥.
Such a cool and easy way to make cute cards!
Beautifully done, Kristina!!!
So simple, but totally awesome!
Beautiful... And you can still use the left over pieces of card stock which you cut the trees from too
I used Sharpies with the sandwich bag on regular paper. Works great!
I've been learning a lot about art from you. Thank you!!
Your videos are just simply relaxing to watch 😊☺️
Peggy Lee ikr?!

During your voiceovers, I imagine Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness, Baby Girl) talking and it’s just all the warm and fuzzies :)
They are so beautiful cards. THANKS!
This is so simple, and yet so gorgeous! I'll be trying something similar for my Yule cards ❤️
Really beautiful card. I've added those markers to my Amazon wishlist. Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful video!!🎄❄️💕
Loooove these card!!!
Nice technique. Cute cards.
Beautiful! 😍👍🏻
This is so pretty!
I don't have a die cut machine, but I might print out some tree templates from the internet and try this. I've got a million cards to make for little cousins and friends. These are super cute!
Jennifer Mataya if you have scissors with special cutting edges you could cut them out with one and have some cute trees too😊
Cindy Roman-Daversa I love how we all think so similarly. Tall triangles cut from any paper, even old Christmas wrapping would make cute trees.
craftqueen417 I love how we also want to help out our crafty friends!
They look great.
Turned it on right away! Love this card so pretty!😍
I have been enjoying your videos a lot!
Loveee theseee! Thanks for sharing Kristina!

Awesome cards! Fab trees and video, thank you! xxx

Fabulous cards!
Very nice. like everything you do. I think on mine I will ink a border line around it to make the trees stand out even more. Thank you for your talent,
Gorgeous. I loved your video.
Stunning!
These are so cute!
These are such fun Kristina that my "faux" grandson (who calls me Aunt Maggie because we're not technically related) hollered...."We can do that TO-DAY!!!" Five year old Brody LOVES your videos (& Jennifer's) and always wants to see your latest videos, especially when it's something we can use the Sizzix die cutting machine on. Thanks for brightening both our days and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. ~HUGS~
