The moon tattoo on his neck is real. He started with one, then V shared a fans artwork with moons going down his back. Jimin liked it and had it done. Fans have pictures where you can see glimpses of it and asked him in his Vlives to show it to us. He said not then, but maybe later. Hoping💜💜💜

Like I mentioned in my last comment months ago, I doubt you remember, my vision is almost gone, but my love for fashion is not. So you describing the difference in the colors, with the green of the dancers outfits and the solid black of Jimin's outfits, something I couldn't make out in the video, or the fact that there was a black outfit change, those details just made the video more vivid in my mind's eye.
The song itself is incredible, but your reaction just made it just that much more amazing. Thank you again.

I do remember! Yeah the dancers started in that dark, dull toned green and then when the light changes, and Jimin is in the second black outfit (shirtless haha), the dancers outfits look more grey so I'm thinking it comes down to the lighting. It makes me so happy that I can share those details with you to make the video more vivid!

The moon tattoos on his back are real-he has several depicting the moon phases that go down his spine. 😍 The writing on his torso is an old (late 1800's) German poem which says in English "I live my life in ever-widening circles, that stretch themselves out over all the things, I won't, perhaps, complete the last one, but I intend on trying. I circle around God, around the ancient tower, and I circle for thousands of years, and I don't know yet, am I a falcon, a storm, or a mighty song." I co-bias Jimin and Jin, so the visuals are killing me!! 😮😱⚰ Going insane to stay sane seems to be a callback to the same lyrics from ON. As others have mentioned a bunch of his tattoos are real, including: the ambigram behind his ear (it reads as either youth or growth), the 7 on his finger, young forever above his elbows, nevermind across his ribs, and the waning moon tattoos down his back from the fanart (by Arizzo Studios) that Tae sent Jimin. Jimin did promise ARMY a couple of times during his livestreams that we'll get to see the full back tat, so this MV doesn't count!! 😆 I'm loving the fact that this MV was all filmed in the one space, and it has some interesting themes. The golden ratio of the spiral, the space looks like it could be symbolizing a panopticon, and of course the German text from the Austrian poet. Arrgghhhh the choreo vid just came out!!

In fact, the nevermind tattoo was inspired by their song “Intro: Nevermind” and the moon tattoos were inspired by an ARMY’s painting/drawing that Jimin saw (via V sharing it with him).

When he says "I won't stop even if they mock me", you can see the dancers pointing at him, judging him, referring to how people perceive him and the narratives they constantly impose or project on him and him basically saying no matter what you say, I'll keep shining.

He is ready to fly. The butterfly lyric mirrored in this effortlessly smooth and sexy move and the fact that he is flanked by two female dancers here just accentuates his appeal.
He is lifted up by the throng and here people have noted the parallels to Lie and it is calming to think that Set Me Free Pt 2 resolves and brings closure to the emotions that inspired that song.
In an interview Jimin explained: "I tried to express the grand scale of the song and [the ideas of] determination, passion, and overcoming. “Set me free” means setting myself free, so I thought it was important that I be the one to set myself free - not someone else. In the end, I’m the one who has to set myself free.
I would say the song has the energy of a light in the darkness. I wanted to express that kind of picture everyone has in their head - a ray of light coming into the darkness is the only thing you can see. If I had to say specific colors, I’d say black and white."

Interesting how your perspective about the colour & texture of the dancers lead me to think that perhaps this may be a symbolic representation of a "prison uniform" worn by fellow artistes & trainees in the Kpop industry "imprisoned" in the harsh conditions imposed to conform and comply to the rules. I grew up with opera, musical theatre, jazz… so Jimin being the Broadway, Tony Award winner is his vibe…bravo Jimin. Love this mv. (If V does jazz, opera in his solo…that would be awesome. That he is able express his other musical talents/style.) my take, so don’t hate…The floor looks like the moon., and it’s rotating. The ceiling looks like the microscope, because his life is essentially under a microscope. The squares represent people, especially, haters trying to pigeon hole him. Auto tune represents new him, who is able to speak up, be honest-truth telling-able to say I survived-succeeded in spite of all you efforts to destroy me, so f-off. Loud music that makes him barely heard: haters trying to suppress and silence him. When you hear his voice with the chorus backing him, it’s his sweet, thoughtful self, telling haters let go of their unreasonable, unfair, unfounded hate, set him free of it…telling self to be free of it. The dancers are the haters bearing down on him, the dancers are victims of hate like Jimin, the dancers are army, who will share Jimin’s struggles and pain & help work it out-carry him thru it& break free. I was shooketh. Moon tattoos are real! Jimin told the story that Taehyung had shown him fan art that an Army had done of him with phases of the moons down his back and he decided to get it done for real. We've seen them peaking out a few times over the past couple months but he said he would show them in full when the time comes. I'm guessing he teased them at the end of this mv and we'll see it in full in the lead single release "Like Crazy" next week!!

He confirms that It's nod to a track on bandmate Yoongi's second mixtape, D-2. "There isn't a connection, and we weren't trying to divide part one or part two," he explains. This vocal range from Jimin is so diverse and changes line to line between. He has incorporated bass (E2-E4), baritone (A2-A4), tenor (C3-C5), counter tenore (E3-E5) plus his head voice and falsettos.. ALL IN ONE SONG. Insane.

i like how u pointed out that Jimin's outfit actually doesn't stand out so much from the dancers -- i almost had a bit of a hard time spotting him in the first few seconds until he slinked out. i think this is intentional to show how he was part of this 'prison' of sorts with the others. I thought that was a really astute observation. Btw this 'dome' circular shaped room with the individual windows across appears to be a reference to the panopticon (which was a building designed with a guard tower in the middle for all prisoners to be watched by the prison guard in the middle tower at all times. this was back in the 19th century if i'm not wrong).
Anyway, throughout, i noticed jimin sometimes moves away from the crowd but also gets pulled back in, and sometimes the dancers represent oppressors to point fingers at him too. I think there are multiple symbolic meanings to each scene and action for sure. Then later he manages to sets himself free.
I admit I was worried about watching this release. And it's true - Jimin killed me. I'm dead. I also wonder if the ending is also a reminder he's still basically the same light guy but wants to explore darker things artisitically.
