No, statistically he wasn't, prime cr7 from about 2011-2014 had more goals than games and had more assists than the best playmakers in the world. The only thing R9 was better at was dribbling. Cr7 in his prime was the most complete attacking threat in football history, not to mention how clutch he was.
Fair play to Simon. Most of TalkSPORT hate Ronaldo. Ronaldo is proven in all the best leagues and has won 2 of Portugals 2 trophies in their history. He’s now got more goals than anyone. If it’s so easy to score in Saudi then why have so many failed. Benzema, mane, firmino, mahrez, Neymar and now Toney. The treatment of him when he came back to England by the media and pundits was poor. And everything he said in that interview has been proven right
Those players have not failed. The likes of Firmino and Mahrez, even Mane have never been hugely prolific scorers. As for Benzema, he has 15 goals in 17 games this season, and his side are 8 points clear of Ronaldo's team. Toney also has probably scored a few less than expected, yet still is averaging around a goal every two games. Also, Neymar only played 3 league games; so clearly that is nowhere near enough to say he failed.
@ Jim said Simon could score in the Saudi league. benzema has 13 in 15 this season and scored 9 in 21 last season. Last season was a failure. Firmino scored 9 last season, failure. Mane scored bags of goals for Liverpool. He scored 14 last season, failure. Toney is in his prime and doesn’t have as many as Ronaldo. Neymar scored 1 in 7, failure. Ronaldo scored 41 last season at the age of nearly 40. Mitrovic is the only other one doing it.
@@RuqiyaOsman-yw5pv Yeah and they also played for Brazil and Argentina, arguably the 2 greatest national teams of all time both historically and currently. Messi was supposed to win a world cup given the expectations of being an Argentinian, and even then it took him 4 attempts before he finally got it right. Ronaldo had Portugal who before him had 0 trophies and a third place in the world cup once only because of Eusebio, their only player historically who was world class. After cr7 they've qualified for every world cup, won their first 2 trophies as underdogs who were not expected to win, he's delivered clutch performances for them multiple times and has somehow managed to have the most goals in international football despite having a weak team from 2008 - 2021. Just remember Cr7 did more for Portugal than Messi did Argentina.
He is one of the greatest players of all time, and is an incredible legend. He can’t be the absolute best ever, because across 5 different World Cups he had 0 goals and 0 assists in knockout stage games.

No one said he was. Neymar, Ronaldinho, R9 and Maradona were all more talented than him but he surpassed all of them because of his work ethic. Cr7 in his prime was not as entertaining but was more complete and statistically better than them in almost every metric.
This man is so essentially honest. The other one...well...the usual. Nice for the honesty. He is the most complete player who achieved more through his own effort. Egotistical as he may be.

The most consistent player of all time, done it in most of the top leagues, and approaching 40, it's nothing short of phenomenal the number of goals, assists and wins, messi has done it in 2 leagues, Ronaldo for me is the best of all time 100%
I much preferred watching Robben to Messi as he moved with a grace that Messi lacked with his fidgety style. Messi also has a question mark against him compared to Ronaldo because he was put on growth hormones as a teenager which changed fate and stopped him from being a true migdet and gave him a more powerful stocky build than he would've naturally ever had which also made him stand out more at a younger age and much harder to disposes when dribbling compared to most little jinky wingers.
Messi had Growth Hormone Disorder. He was given exogenous GH to get him up to a _normal person's level._ It's not like he was using supra-physiological amounts, so he had no advantage in that area over any other person with normal GH levels. What you're suggesting is the equivalent of claiming that a short-sighted person wearing glasses for an archery contest has a competitive advantage over somebody with 20/20 vision.
Ronaldo won Europe and 5 champions league he is mr. Champions league period i respect a player Messi is but to match CR7 stature is almost near to impossible. Drink that fellow
If Messi had the work ethics of CR7 there will be no comparison, Messi only relied on his talent but Ronaldo is a combination of talent and work ethics and that makes him the GOAT . BIGFACTS
In his career, Ronaldo has taken at least 900 more ground (boot) shots than Messi yet, deduct headers and penalties, has 150 fewer goals in open-play (on the ground). Assists are a terrible metric to gauge creativity - Peter Crouch has more PL assists than Paul Scholes. Messi makes 10 progressive passes per game to Ronaldo's 2, makes 500-600 more passes into the attacking third than Ronaldo per season, makes 5x the number of throughballs, 2.5x the number of long-range key passes, double-to-treble the number of dribbles per season while driving towards Zone 14 rather than laterally and down the empty lanes on the wing like Ronaldo mostly did, and averages a position 20 yards further away from the opposition goal. In CL knockouts and major international tournaments, Messi makes more defensive pressures, the dribbling and passing stats maintain the same disparity, has scored more from outside-the-box and the exact number of ground (boot shot) goals with Ronaldo having taken around 200 more ground attempts on goal. Since records began in 1980, Ronaldo has taken at least TWICE the number of shots as any striker who has featured at the EUROS - more than Van Basten, Shearer, Henry, Kane. During his sojourn in Italy, no player took more shots in Serie A - in fact, the volume of his shots is so extraordinary that his attacking partners suffer greatly: Benzema went from two 20-goal league seasons in nine years to four consecutively once Ronaldo departed (and Benzema has a markedly better conversion rate while having much better progressive passing stats), Rooney's goalscoring exploded once Ronaldo left, Dybala went from 50 goals in three seasons to 20 in three and his shot attempts more than halved while his defensive pressures increased significantly even though Juve were scoring fewer collectively and 30% of Ronaldo's Serie A goals were penalties, Man Utd went from 121 goals (their highest in 14 years) to 71 goals, and between 2014 and 2018, Bale's goal tally was double in games Ronaldo didn't play. Messi has almost the same number of weak-foot goals as Ronaldo in La Liga and Champions League (groups and knockouts); the disparity is almost entirely international. Ronaldo has played many more international competitive fixtures against lower ranked sides during qualifiers than Messi has. Ronaldo has scored 50 of his competitve goals against sides ranked ≈100, whereas Messi has 0 goals against 100+ ranked sides having played just 2 competitive games against this level of opponent. Let's say that Messi overall has 100 career weak-foot goals; between 2010 and 2018, Messi scored 70 goals with 255 shots with his right foot = 3.64 shots per goal = 28% efficiency. Ronaldo managed 79 goals with 651 shots with his left foot = 8.24 shots per goal = 12% efficiency. If 2014-18 Messi and Ronaldo swapped clubs, Benzema is unleashed from Ronaldo shot-hogging and plays with a prolific and extremely generous playmaker while Messi gets a better out-of-possession defence and the best modern midfield; Barcelona in return get a better aerial threat but at the cost of a much worse conversion rate on the ground and lose their best playmaker.
Being the most talented player and being the most complete player are two different things, without doubt Ronaldo is the most complete players thats ever played football. Thats doesnt mean Messi isnt a better dribbler than him, or Zlatan wasnt better in the air, or zidane didnt have better volley technique, it means as a whole package if you scored each individual attribute he has, then compared his total with all the other players in history's individual attributes, ronaldos total score would be the highest, making him the most complete player ever.
The most complete player of all time was the original Renaldo (check his assists reel). But Ronaldos longevity makes him a better player just not more complete.
With Argentina, they have a massive footprint in WC football. Before Messi, took them 4 world cups with Messi to win it again. Portugal were no where on the map until CR7. I'm not saying one is better than the other, I'm saying that's a silly argument Unless there's a player with two world cups 😂, if we want to use this as a measure
I thought Ronaldo was spot on when he said what he did. Hes never come out against a club, ever. Everything he said about united was spot on. Look at the state of the club now, look at the state of the stadium. Terrible club, run terribly. They just biy expensive players, pay them a fortune and hope they win stuff. They didnt invest in anything but players. And in 2024 they aacked a load of working class people, who were being paid buttons, to balance the books. They didnt consider long term lowering players wages, investing in training and youth development so the future is secure. They just want there now, not the future. The facilities are from the 90's. My mrs step dad was head physio for united, he often said how bad things were compared to my club (liverpool). Im happy to see united sinking tbh. The backlash against ronaldo wasnt good though. That mans a legend. Even past his best he was the best player at united.
Anyone with a brain recognises that Cristiano is the best and most complete in the history of the game. Yes Messi is gifted, but Messi in the PL would be brushed aside by most defenders. Yes he won a a world cup (gifted by FIFA) but so did Romario, so did Zidane...yet they are not the best ever. Ronaldo was a force of nature who brought the world of football to his feet for TWENTY YEARS!
Big difference is Ronaldo did it in multiple countries, rather than spend nearly all his career in a 2 team league. If Ronaldo had spent his whole career at Real Madrid his numbers would be miles ahead of even Messi. Personally though for me Maradona was better than both of them, if you put Messi into the 80s when Maradona was at his peak and the most fouled player in history, he would have been bullied for 90 mins and you probably would have never heard of him. Ronando could have coped a little better due to his extra size, but he would still have been far below the player we have seen these last 20 years.
Well, he uses the phrase "most complete player," which in my opinion he ain't. Scoring goals with all parts of the body doesn't make you a complete player. Can he defend, can he control a game like a midfielder, e.t.c. Is he the most complete strker? Well he has a case, but is he the most complete player? Most definitely not. Even Harry Kane is more complete than him. Btw I'm not saying Harry Kane is better just that he adds more to the game than Cr7.
Greatest player I’ve ever seen without any doubt was Pele just look at his stats starting at 17 rest my case.if Ronaldo had said best striker I would have agreed but Pele,Messi,Maradona were team players who were successful at the highest level.❤

Messi is an amazing talent maybe the most naturally gifted player ever, but in term of the full package, and that includes longevity, different ways of scoring, fitness, speed, power, strength, not being injured, and the amount of goals and assists hes got. Ronaldo is by far the most complete player thats ever lived, that doesnt mean hes been the best player his whole career but to be playing at the very top scoring 30-70 goals a season for 22 years is unmatched, nobody has EVER done what Ronaldo has done and probably never will
Ronaldo is not the best 😂Messi took on the best of Europe in the champions league and won! Messi has the better stats and stats dont lie.
R9 Ronaldo at his peak before he shattered both his knees was levels above
In terms of talent, no one compares. He was doing cr7 and messi numbers as a teen
No, statistically he wasn't, prime cr7 from about 2011-2014 had more goals than games and had more assists than the best playmakers in the world. The only thing R9 was better at was dribbling. Cr7 in his prime was the most complete attacking threat in football history, not to mention how clutch he was.
Messi is way better at dribbling, passing, playmaking, creating space, etc. Messi is a more complete attacking player than Cristiano.
Carlton Palmer gets overlooked every time there’s a GOAT argument 🙄
He is the “ Muhammad Ali “ of football 🤛🤛🤛❤️
As a Real Madrid supporter he’s rite I not just saying that but Simon is rite he has done it every where he has gone
Not in the World Cup 😂 the thing is messi, maradona, and Pele did it in every where in club fotball and national
And.... how many goals were hotly disputed free kicks or penalties??
Bambi on ice and a cheat. Remember him getting Rooney sent off??
He is one of the greatest players of all time, and is an incredible legend.
He can’t be the absolute best ever, because across 5 different World Cups he had 0 goals and 0 assists in knockout stage games.
TBF he plays for Portugal who have never actually been that good, and he still won a trophy with them.
@@BasketCase-rr7txPortugal isn’t good, have you seen their squad lol
@@BasketCase-rr7tx portugal was consistently ranked in the top 10 throughout penaldog's career, and if you check the FIFA national team rankings, portugal was ranked higher than Argentina in 4 out of the 5 world cups both messi and ronaldo played in. scoring a total of 0 goals and 0 assists in 8 world cup knockout rounds and 0 finals appearances for a top 10, arguably top 5 nation. but penaldoggies somehow ignore this fact
also, he didn't even play the final of the euros, his team won it without him
Messi is the undisputed 🐐, but I respect Ronaldo and all that he achieved in the game.
How many goals did he score with his head. Tell us how many with his right foot.i am waiting
😂😂😂 Ladronel droganel, pecho frio, fraud.
Agree messi is the 🐐
@@VOICEOFHOPETVHow many WC Knockout goals did Ronaldo score? I’m waiting.
You need to buy a dictionary and look up the word undisputed: it doesn't mean what you want it to mean. 😄😆😂🤣
Cristiano and Gerd Müller are in the same bracket. Great players but not at the level of the greatest of great.
Couldn't agree more. both just goal scorers waiting in the 6 yard box for tap ins and nothing more.
Ronaldo is the Ultimate 🐐
Says who? oh hi Cristiano's sister
He can be as “complete” as he wants. He has to be “complete” just to compete with Messi who only uses his left foot. What does that tell you?
Hardest working player of all time but not in the top 10 for talent.
This 👆
Not in the 10 is just trolling.
@@monkofknowledgestan Nope! He's nowhere near my top ten players of all-time either.
You just a hater
No one said he was. Neymar, Ronaldinho, R9 and Maradona were all more talented than him but he surpassed all of them because of his work ethic. Cr7 in his prime was not as entertaining but was more complete and statistically better than them in almost every metric.
This man is so essentially honest. The other one...well...the usual. Nice for the honesty. He is the most complete player who achieved more through his own effort. Egotistical as he may be.
Ronaldo's impact goes beyond the pitch
Isnt really relevant, Messi is the better footballer and thats the topic
ronaldo is the goat ,hes bang on about himself even if it sounds big headed, he is the most complete player ever and as much as i loved george best im sorry but ronaldo is a better player in my opinion
What you're suggesting is the equivalent of claiming that a short-sighted person wearing glasses for an archery contest has a competitive advantage over somebody with 20/20 vision.
vast majority of ex pros and fans think messi is the goat.. and deep down even the ronaldo fans know it too
Ronaldo won Europe and 5 champions league he is mr.

LOL!!! There has never been a more complete footballer than Franz Beckenbauer. Cristiano couldn't tie _Der Kaiser's_ shoe laces.
French kiss 💋💋💋 😂😂😂
Thats why Radcliffe is planning to build the stadium, he listens to him
Yes the best. Yes. 🎉🎉🎉
The most complete player of all time was the original Renaldo (check his assists reel). But Ronaldos longevity makes him a better player just not more complete.
CR7 ❤❤❤
Maradona simply the best

Messi is undisputed, but Ronaldo inspires Cricket players
With Argentina, they have a massive footprint in WC football. Before Messi, took them 4 world cups with Messi to win it again.
Portugal were no where on the map until CR7.
I'm not saying one is better than the other, I'm saying that's a silly argument

Messi is magic natural gift
Let him win world Cup for he's people
I thought Ronaldo was spot on when he said what he did.
I agree CR7 is the Goat
Ronaldo is the Ego king for sure.
Pure talent, pre knee injury R9
Anyone with a brain recognises that Cristiano is the best and most complete in the history of the game. Yes Messi is gifted, but Messi in the PL would be brushed aside by most defenders. Yes he won a a world cup (gifted by FIFA) but so did Romario, so did Zidane...yet they are not the best ever. Ronaldo was a force of nature who brought the world of football to his feet for TWENTY YEARS!
He's the Boyka of football 🙏
Simon literally said he thought George Best was the best player ever recently. Doesn't even have a consistent opinion
Ronaldo is the best, tested by two of the toughest leagues in the game. The most complete player in terms of attack
😄😆😂🤣
Simón just showed me his level of ball knowledge. There are Ronaldo fans and Football fans
If I can only pick one footballer in my 46 years of watching it would still be Maradona.
Ronaldoooo

Agree 100%
Messi doesn’t have to say a word, his stats and achievements speak for themselves..
Messi can’t speak properly n the first place cuz he’s autistic
And so do Ronaldo’s. Difference is he likes to remind us 🙂
But why he’s reminding us? Is cause nobody’s thinks that
Big difference is Ronaldo did it in multiple countries, rather than spend nearly all his career in a 2 team league.
Because messi has media support. English media still hates ronaldo from his man utd days.
Imagine the player ronaldo could have been if he was on the same stuff Maradona was on before games
They didn’t want to show the last comments 😂 Simon would look like a fool 😂
