Got mine a month or so ago and this lens is amazing! I'll probably hang on to it for years to come. If the upcoming 135mm 1.8 from Viltrox is a good as this I'll definitely buy that too Viltrox is killing it
I have the viltrox 85mm... It honestly shits all over my sigma 24-70mm.. It's my favorite lens, and I'm excited to snag more viltrox lenses.. af is a little slow, BUT, for my needs, it doesn't matter
I once owned it. AF was too slow for me in comparison to original Sony lenses (35F1.8) at the time (using a A7 M1). Now with a A7 R IV i kind of think it may be ok. I switched to the Samyang 75F1.8. It also does a good job and is very lightweight.
To fix the lens hood from loosening you can cut two slivers of paper and place them in to the track of the hood where it makes engagement with the lens. It increases the friction.
5:34 Yes! Also, a Real Estate shot of an average 10x10 foot (3x3 meter) room would be greatly appreciated! I'm currently looking at options in that department. 😊✌️
Received mine two days ago (for Sony), and it is an awesome lens. But the lens connection to a MAC and PC does not work at all and I needed to return it for an exchange. Per Viltrox, there is something wrong with an internal circuit. This may be rare, since I could not find anyone else having the same issue. The lens-to-computer function is only important if upgrading firmware is important to you.
Another reason to look at third party lenses would be when the first party couldn't give af about releasing native glass for a system. Native Nikon Z-mount APS-C fast primes are nonexistent. Sony isn't as bad on that front, but having options is nice. We'll just ignore Canon since they don't care nor will they allow others to care (until I have something like the Sigma APS-C 1.4's on RF working great for a R7, I couldn't care less if they say "we're thinking about saying we'll open it up").
My Lord, once I had adult money to spare I got myself the Canon EOS 60D. The camera fit me perfectly back then, but little did I expect how the missing micro adjustment for AF would bite me in the rear... its successor did get the feature, but the 60D lacked it. The swivel-screen was of great help however and I've really loved the glass that I got for it. My EOS was a trusty local companion for many photo shootings, trips, events and in general. I'm happy to own it, but feel great remorse over that adjustment feature missing, since the focus got softer over the years. That being said, my next camera will not be a Canon again, instead I'll be switching to Sony as well. Their image sensors are incredible, the glass choice is amazing and being able to get a full-frame in the size of the Alpha 7C II is so helpful if you want to travel a lot and use it all-day during events where you already carry a lot of other stuff as well. The AF is stellar on Sonys as well.
sony has a great advantage by permiting third party autofocus contrary to cano RF mount camera that dont permit autofcus with the thitd party lenses. Also sony e mount autofocus is totaly open to thirtd party lens manufactures. No need for reverse engineniring as with Niko Z mount. For people who want cheap but really good third party autofocus lense, sony emount is the only choice.
So if I take my sony 16 to 35 f4, focus it at 16mm vs this 16mm 2.8 fixed, what advatages does this viltrox give me? Viltrox- more bocca blur, slightly sharper image? Gary
You've come a very long way Kai, you still have your videos up on DigitalRev of being equipment elitiest and snob against the likes of Tamron, Sony and Sony products.
I tried this lens and i was disappointed. This lens makes a lot noise. And when you take pictures in the interior, the photos are too the You will need a lot of light...the colors are not as good as I expected. This lens is for amateurs but not for profesionals. The price is too high. This lens is worth around 200-300 dollars.
yeah no such thing. it's f2.8. samyang is also not as sharp and not as wide while having more distortion and ca. it's cheaper and lighter and that's it.

I just got mine for night time-lapse shooting. Will test it out soon.
Please give me review about the astro and wide angle lens. Also the autofocus on lowlight after testing it.

Yaaa....I ditched Canon after using them for 20 years. Happy Sony user now

Picked one of these up about a month ago, and I've been thoroughly impressed. Especially for the price!!
The lens does look pretty decent! I've used their APS-C glass on EF-M. Pretty quirky at first but they improved them a lot through firmware.

Viltrox are one of the top third party camera lenses IMO
Thank you!
2:22 it funny coz he's talking to his higher form consciousness 🤣
What happened to your old channel Kai?
It will be cool when viltrox announces 24-70 f2.8 in the same quality...
still waiting the z mount 😢😢😢
Need your take on Lumix G92, Kai.
Great job on the video Kai! Thanks for making it.
How will this lens fare against astrophotography?
Any chance of a review of the Laowa 19mm for gfx?
Zeiss Touit 12mm 2.8 or Zeiss Batis 18mm 2.8?
Need this for z mount like yesterday
I have heard nothing but good things about this lens, good value.
Any chance you could do a comparison between this and the Loawa 15mm f2??
Quality is much better then laowa
Hmm interesting, should post some full size pics for us to check as well though
You've left the b roll at the end of the other video and posted this one first :D I love that we are all human!
14mm Rokinon is 199 for emount but is manual but looks fantastic
The full-frame one is like 550e here, just aps-c is 200something
I'd say you don't really need an AF for 16-14mm lenses. For vast majority of shots you will be focusing on infinity anyway

Cool in the KAILOK mobiel aka car
clean your sensor pls
I am simple man, I see Kai W video, I click.
I'll stick with my laowa 15
But They have no Pentax K mount... Rather weird background sounds.
Kingston upon thames
I’m not fan, of displays on lenses!
We have too many prime lenses
you never have too many primes
Nothing wrong with that!
Not possible.
We have too much oxygen.
Primes are way better than telephotos. Telephotos are for tourist and beginner photographers
Me want.
Viltrox must have hired some ex Sigma employees, or just stole the right designs.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I mean, $550 is not really cheap, per se. For that price you can expect some quality materials and nice build. I wouldn't for $100 or 150, let's say.

Yuh-huh!
The samyang 18mm f1.8 is better.

That's an ugly lens Kai! Looks like something that came out of a rear end of something. For $500, I'd rather get the old Zeiss 16-35 f4.
I bought it, excellent picture and build quality, if this was done by sony the price would double...
