I love the 1/2/3 Series of Jag saloons, but especially the S3, unless you throw a S2 coupe into the mix! The six's are one thing, the 4.2's are lovely, swift and comfortable cars to drive. The V12's however, well, what can you say, apart from glorious, sublime, fabulous or however else you want to describe them. Even to this day there are very few cars, cost no object, that can hold a candle to these cars effortless combination of power, comfort and driveability. Just like they said, "Grace, Space and Pace".
This is one of the most beautiful limos ever made. Maybe a new Jags are much more reliable than old ones, but they lost this elegance and "soul". They look like "pumped up" Hyundai or something.
@@elsapomasguapo The early v8's had a bunch of issues, but they fixed most of them in 02 I think. However, in my opinion, the most reliable jag is a 96-97 X300 XJ6. The 6 cylinder that Jag refined for 50 years, modern electronics and ignition and injection, OBD2, fairly easy to work on, and old enough that it doesn't have a bunch of complicated electronics or computers/modules
@@callumhardy5098 From what I've read, they're more reliable than ever now. They finally beat the German competition in terms of reliability, but at the price of becoming indistinguishable from any other car. But there is a lot of misinformation around regarding Jags, as a lot of their sins of the past (1970s, particularly) still haunt the brand to this day. Lots of people with limited knowledge love to run their mouths about Jags, probably out of envy.
I test drove this car last year when it was for sale in Atlanta. Do you own it or is it for sale? Beautiful car and it was really clean and original (other than the aftermarket wheels). I do have an ‘87 version with the v12 engine. Great cars.
Why do people ruin these beautiful cars by replacing the classic Kent alloys with hideous modern wheels that are totally out of keeping? Also replacing the steering wheel. Massively detracts from the car's appeal. Otherwise stunning!
Meh, nothing wrong with them. It his personal touch and it’s still classy. You can be a purist by all means, but he’s not ruined the car and obviously has a passion for it. Heaven forbid we are all the same
Had an xjs HE sport,v12 and a Daimler sovereign v12,nice cars but they had their faults, over heating, electrical, bad demisting, etc etc,but still a nice car to drive, fortunately my two were trouble free, and yes they both did over 155,that was fun round Edinburgh by pass lol
Yes. The switch you can see center screen at 3:15 switches between the tanks. The fuel meter then drops or rises accordingly to show what the currently used tank has left. That's why these cars are quite popular for LMG conversions in Europe (where fuel costs are painful on cars like this, with prices above 2€/Litre in some countries - that's way above 10$/gallon).
Hello, what rims are these? I would be interested in buying the same types for my xj. And what type of steering wheel is that? Did you use some type of adapter?
Is it reliable? I'm thinking of purchasing a Daimler Double Six V12 5.3 H.E in French blue, virtually the same car, 1985 it's had everything done including new fuel tanks, and only 47,000 miles. It is UK spec.
No, there are not really any reliable performance vehicles. This is an old car though, its not a daily driver. Difficult to work on there is no room for anything
We have exactly the same car but in green. I wouldn't use it as daily usage car but its still so enjoyable to drive and look at. 0-100 km\h it slow as old cars usually are but after 100 kph that it keeps just going and leaving those modern bmw's and mercs behind. For the reliability the problems we sometimes suffer is that the all cylinders arent running but mostly you can fix that by changing the sparkplugs.
Trust the yanks to ruin a beautiful shape by putting those huge ugly side lights and huge bumpers on it. Apparently all in the name of safety which then raises the question why did they insist on smaller headlight reflectors ?
I owned one for 12 years, and it was not this noisy ! (Maybe a noist road?). Quietest engine I ever had; thirstiest too ! Couldn't hear, or feel, the engine until 3000rpm, and then sounded like a singer sowing machine. Only had a three speed auto box, but did 90mph in second ! I replaced it with an XJR which was much quicker, but not as quiet or as luxurious
He's driving with the driver window opened, not full. When I drive my XJ, and feel the need to drive with driver side window ,like 8 Cm open , I put rear window also at like 7/8 cm open, so U get fresh air without wind noise ! Still, above 40 Mph , driving with an open window, makes a car really fuel inefficient. Better flip that rooftop. Such a Luxury Sedan , while sitting as low as a sports car That's what makes a Classic Jaguar XJ Unique. Nice review of a beautiful XJ V12 Classic.
This is one of the most Beautiful Cars i'v ever seen, Wow
Yeah but those wheels ?
Jaguars of that era had beautiful subtle lines and NEVER tried to be somethig they were not.
@@greensocks4507 exactly the wheels are horrible
I drove the 4.2 version in the exact same colour scheme, loved her

I thought the late 90’s/early 2000’s jags were the most reliable?

Actually you’d be surprised, new jags are less reliable than those made under the Ford era of Jaguar from early 90’s to 2009.

jaguar belle voiture hors du commun 👌👍
All on this car is perfect , color, lines, rims, a dream car ... probably expensive to maintain ...hello from France, Alain ( PS , i like GB ! )
this car is mad beautiful.
Gorgeous example of a series 3 XJ wish my series 3 XJ6 that I had was in this good of condition
It's gorgeous. ❤

Those Kent’s are gorgeous
It’s all to do with taste. Or lack of it!😂
Just about to say the same lol
Just a go faster stripe and fluffy dice to complete the look
@kyivwithgeofftanya5546 probably because it's their car

Great video 🙏
Beautiful car, my gran used to have one.
My dad had one of these that was mint in the 90's. One of the most beautiful piles of junk anyone can own.
Really beautiful car, next time give us little sound of the monster inside the bonnet :)
Still the most soulful car ever made.
ONE OD THE BEST MERCEDES EVER PRODUCED- YOU SHOULD BUY IT.
The LAST proper, real Jag.
Pure class....
Very nice...i have the same colour daimler s3 1985
Nice example to see one where the bottom hasn't been eaten away is a nice sight
I used to own one of these, it was a beautiful machine when it ran- which was pretty much never. Gorgeous to look, at but a total money pit.

How does the duel fuel tank situation work on these cars? do you have to select which tank is to be used?
Yes. The switch you can see center screen at 3:15 switches between the tanks. The fuel meter then drops or rises accordingly to show what the currently used tank has left. Is the window open or where is that wind noise coming from?
Something not quite right here.... the temperature gauge isn't showing overheating lol
What is so noisy in the car? Window open? They are usually silent salons
What rims are on this?
Worth buying?
Found it on sale nothing wrong
I'd take this car over a lamborgini....
Cheap as chips these ones dude

What size rims are those ?
You don't have the v12 speedo .it goes up to 160
Because it was likely a swapped XJ6. The USA never got the Series 3 V12 after 1980.

What is the difference between the xj and xjs ones? Do the xjs versions have a louder engine?
