Whenever I want to learn Dave Matthews you are the first and only one I think of. Not only because I know the accuracy of the chords and arrangement will be there, but your right hand technique is tremendous. If you don’t mind me asking, what pick do you gravitate to most? Also, any specific thickness you prefer with that amazing right hand technique you use? Thank you kindly, sir!

Thanks so much Brandon! I definitely like to think that I have the most accurate Dave Matthews tutorials that are on TH-cam... not that any of the others are bad per se, but a lot of them have something wrong here or there in terms of how they're choosing to execute the song... so I really do appreciate that I'm your go to for D.M.
To your question... I tend to prefer Dunlop Primetone Standard Smooth .88mm picks... BUT, when I'm playing Dave Matthews songs, I tend to grab a Dunlop Tortex Standard, 0.60mm (the orange pick)... this is the pick that Dave tends to use to play... it is thin enough to achieve the feel of "strummy-ness" that he does so well, while also being thick enough to give the attack of single struck riffs for song like The Stone, Satellite, Drive In Drive Out etc...

@@TimGuitarLessons 100% you have the best, most comprehensive “Dave” tutorials, and the largest catalog. Thanks for the pick info. And, you’re definitely correct about Dave using the Orange picks. The right hand 16th note technique is so important for accuracy sake and makes sense that the pick isn’t super stiff. Unfortunately, the technique does not come natural to me and requires a lot of practice. I get exposed when trying to play two step as the pick wants to fly completely out of my fingers. Getting better with practice, tho. Anyway, thanks again & cheers!

Tim, outstanding work! Even though it isn't overly complex (relative to the whole Dave Matthews guitar catalog), I always have struggled keeping the bridge sounding clean on this tune. This video is a great tool to clearly hear Dave's part.
Any chance you could do a tutorial of Dodo? I've got the chord shapes down, but I feel like my strumming pattern for the verses is slightly off. If by chance you are able to appease this request, can I greedily I ask that you include the little intro/outro riff Dave has played on it?

    D&T 2010, Intro riff: th-cam.com/video/hs74B7udXZk/w-d-xo.html
Thank you again for you dedicating so much time to a very much appreciated collection of THE most accurate Dave Matthews' guitar parts anywhere.
