A Russian attack tried and failed to kill President Zelenskyy today, with the attempt failing and leading to the arrest of 2 Colonels in the Security Directorate of Ukraine. This is the first time an attempt has been made form inside the Ukrainian government. Meanwhile Israel has invaded Rafah and is conducting a large ground operation in the area. The British MOD was hacked today, and a wiretap was found in a Polish government building. Russia and Belarus will be holding tactical Nuclear drills soon.

I have always thought that Zelenskyy would be VERY vulnerable to traitors in his inner circle. Sometimes he gets so close to the front line, he is easily in range of artillery or rockets. One set of loose lips and he is a goner.

Why are sensitive systems or data even connected to the internet? These functions were accomplished before the existence of the internet. No added convenience is worth the risk of hacking.
It doesn't have to be the 'internet', it could also be their own intranet that gets breeched. We used to use horses and pigeons but technology moves on. It only takes one careless person (leave a laptop unsecured or for someone to use unsecured coms -email, phone, radio etc) and no more security. If someone is purposefully wanting to do that even worse.
There are different "webs" that are, infrastructurally, separate. US military has/had (I've been out 16 years, now) Green/Red/Orange + temporary internal Operational nets. Unclassified, non-sensitive Green connected with the big web we all know. The rest are not.
But devices can move between them, if people don't follow strict protocols. And that's just the lazy part - people intentionally compromising by downloading data on a storage device to forward on is its own security issue.

Cyber security is a must. The various target countries need to really determine what infrastructure should be on line. I would think a lot of utilities should NOT be online. For example, the nuclear power plants don’t need to be online. The plants are monitored be onsite staff 24/7. A telephone call to the staff would satisfy. At the very least, there should be a think tank reviewing the cyber security.
