According to Matthew 10:19; prayer as a whole is something you have no control over because it is done by the Holy Spirit. There's a difference between praying and saying words.
Speaking in tongues is powerful.the way you speak in your language to communicate in the physical realm is also the way you communicate in the spirit There are different types of tongues ,there is the tongues of angels,there is the tongues where when you speak the universe heres you and responds,theres a tongue that would switch your frequency from the natural to the supernatural,theres a tongue that brings healing ,wisdom and understanding...you might not necessaryily understand what your speaking simply because your still growing in the spirit ,so keep feeding on the word of God until you come to full statue where you can discern,hear,see and understand as you speak.. Keep speaking until your voice gains recognition and stamina in the spirit... There was a time in my life where After i came back from a church program i kept speaking in tongues uncontrollably ,i couldnt stop ,i kept speaking in tongues for hours and i felt my soul ascend into a frequency where i saw an arrow that was shot to me and instantly i saw my spirit man ,it was so huge and full of light and instantly my spirit man grabbed that arrow and broke it ,praying in tongues open your spiritual eyes

I did too! Woke up and suddenly felt an intense urge to speak in tongues. I didn’t control a single thing that was said and questioned what I was saying. I only controlled when I started and ended. This happened to me 3 days ago. Online, I see people claim they can do it whenever they want and makes me confused. Are you able to do it on your own timing? I want to do it again but I’m unsure how those are doing it “when they want”.

Say a prayer and ask God to baptise you with the Holy Spirit so you can speak in tongues. Believe that you can do it, that’s how i started speaking in tongues.

As long as you have the HOLY SPIRIT, the evidence is that of speaking in tongues, so, all you need is to exercise the gift already giving to you. The words don't need to make sense to you, just utter what comes to your renewed mind out, and do it by faith. Paul said," When i pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.."( 1Cor.14:14) In other words Paul is saying that when he prayed in tongues he didn't understand what he was saying either.

I do believe in the gift of tongues (as many should as according to the bible) But our understanding of what tongues is what is separating us. The big verse that people who have a "angelic language" is 1 Corinthians 14:2 "For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit" An actual example of the gift of tongues is at the Pentecost in Acts as a ability to speak a foreign language you do not know. But what if there is no one to understand or interpret your tongue (language)? Than it's a private prayer/message between you and God! Simple yes? But however you want to understand it there and some things said about the gift of tongues that are just not right or biblical. 1. "The gift of tongues is the real proof of you having the holy spirit and every truly saved person can do it." - This is wrong, in Acts 12 Paul goes to say that "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them." And continues to describe these gifts than saying "All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines." Literally the whole chapter speaks of the diversity of gifts and believers and that we will all be given differently. 2. "That the devil can't understand tongues". - It just honestly never says anything like that in the bible.. 3. "That's what praying in the spirit means." - Praying in the spirit is like "walking in the spirit"(Gal 5:16-18) . It's to act and pray in God's will! And that's what the Holy spirit does is guide you to the will of God! 4. "It's a heavenly language" -This comes from 1 Cor 13:1 "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or clanging cymbal". Which is obviously hyperbole of Paul saying that even if he Spoke Like Angels, without love it's just noise. Agreed you might not be the truth but you've helped me a lot in removing the guilt of not speaking in tongues and fully understanding what it is before anything, I am a new believer and baptised, idiligently seek God I believe everything written in the bible as God's word and never want to do anything out of pretence and wanting to fit in. I asked about it in church during a Q and A session and I felt the sense of shame as if its a question 8 shouldn't be asking although deep down I knew I was asking for most ppl.
Lord! I was praying this morning I said ‘Lord I want to unlearn everything that is not connected to your word, I don’t want to keep going to my secret place of prayer seeking for power or whatever. Teach me Holy Spirit, I surrender to you’. I was definitely watching something unrelated and this appeared! The Lord surely hears the believer’s prayers Also I used to doubt while praying because my tongues has been sounding the same. I’m sharing this testimony so that I may share the comfort that I have received through the Holy Spirit

I am going yo pray for you know 🙏 and tell you about the 2 things that helped me. David hernandez evangelist has videos to tell you all the things that could be blocking your gift. By the end of his video I was speaking in tounges and my whole body felt differently amazing and my lips where tingling. I also look up worship song that include touges it helped me get comfortable with ut next thing ya know I was singing in tounges
May not be said before but I love the strings in the background, they make you ponder hard at what the MOG is saying, and internalise thank you. I find some distracting but this particular one is done excellently.
I slept with a sermon of this my Apostle Joshua Selman titled THE SECRET PLACE and another titled SEASON OF VICTORY I ised these sermons day amd night mostly till dawn. Something happened one day,i slept and lo and behold I opened my mouth and bounce up from sleep speaking in tongues But i quenched it,then i relax a bit. I decided to at least stand up from bed,lo and behold i felt cold water from my head going down to my toes,all I heard is The Holy Spirit has came! I immediately started praying in The Holy Spirit non-stop. GOD IS SO POWERFUL FOREVER AND EVER 🙏🏾🙏🏾
For me these days it just come automatically even wen i don't want to pray in tongues I just find my self praying in tongues but sometimes it become so powerful even i rub my hands and feel fire burning me. At first i was confused but now iam used of it.
I thot I was alone now I know I am not . I can just say Father I come to you and the rest is just tongues I get interrupted in-between a prayer just tongues all over

Sisi, that is not your call to make. It is God who will give us strength and the grace to pray in tongues. If not then its ayt, He will bless each and every one of us with different gifts as He determines it fit. You can ask God for interpretation...but speaking in tongues is unknown to your mind.

First I am not the truth you should seek, for that is God's gift with His word. Pray for discernment and read His word!.

I do believe in the gift of tongues (as many should as according to the bible)
But our understanding of what tongues is what is separating us.
The big verse that people who have a "angelic language" is 1 Corinthians 14:2 "For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit"
An actual example of the gift of tongues is at the Pentecost in Acts as a ability to speak a foreign language you do not know.
But what if there is no one to understand or interpret your tongue (language)?
Than it's a private prayer/message between you and God! Simple yes?
But however you want to understand it there and some things said about the gift of tongues that are just not right or biblical.
1. "The gift of tongues is the real proof of you having the holy spirit and every truly saved person can do it."
- This is wrong, in Acts 12 Paul goes to say that "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them." And continues to describe these gifts than saying "All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines." Literally the whole chapter speaks of the diversity of gifts and believers and that we will all be given differently.
2. "That the devil can't understand tongues".
- It just honestly never says anything like that in the bible..
3. "That's what praying in the spirit means."
- Praying in the spirit is like "walking in the spirit"(Gal 5:16-18) . It's to act and pray in God's will! And that's what the Holy spirit does is guide you to the will of God!
4. "It's a heavenly language"
-This comes from 1 Cor 13:1 "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or clanging cymbal".
Which is obviously hyperbole of Paul saying that even if he Spoke Like Angels, without love it's just noise.
And even continued to say he could have understanding of all God's secrets and Knowledge of All Things, but without love he is nothing." 1 Cor 13:1-3
So it's obviously a type of exaggeration to make a point.
5 "it's the best/most useful gift"
- Paul says that he'd prefer you use the gift of prophecy over tongues so you may edify the church. (1 Corinthians 14:5)
BUT without love all these gifts mean nothing.. (1 Corinthians 13)
There's more, but I strongly suggest reading the full book of Corinthians or at the least a full chapter to keep a verse in context.
But what ever you believe speaking in tongues to be, there are no reason to think your not saved or filled with the Holy spirit if you don't have that gift. The true proof of the Holy spirit is the change inside and the love for God!

Agreed you might not be the truth but you've helped me a lot in removing the guilt of not speaking in tongues and fully understanding what it is before anything, I am a new believer and baptised, idiligently seek God I believe everything written in the bible as God's word and never want to do anything out of pretence and wanting to fit in. I asked about it in church during a Q and A session and I felt the sense of shame as if its a question 8 shouldn't be asking although deep down I knew I was asking for most ppl.

I am going yo pray for you know 🙏 and tell you about the 2 things that helped me. David hernandez evangelist has videos to tell you all the things that could be blocking your gift. By the end of his video I was speaking in tounges and my whole body felt differently amazing and my lips where tingling. I also look up worship song that include touges it helped me get comfortable with ut next thing ya know I was singing in tounges

I ised these sermons day amd night mostly till dawn.
Something happened one day,i slept and lo and behold I opened my mouth and bounce up from sleep speaking in tongues
But i quenched it,then i relax a bit.
I decided to at least stand up from bed,lo and behold i felt cold water from my head going down to my toes,all I heard is The Holy Spirit has came!
I immediately started praying in The Holy Spirit non-stop.

For me these days it just come automatically even wen i don't want to pray in tongues I just find my self praying in tongues but sometimes it become so powerful even i rub my hands and feel fire burning me. At first i was confused but now iam used of it.

Sisi, that is not your call to make. It is God who will give us strength and the grace to pray in tongues. If not then its ayt, He will bless each and every one of us with different gifts as He determines it fit.
