I was wrong and downloaded you patchs without the IRs.and that's why they sounded horrible. Now the dowonloads are complet and the patchs sounds great. Thank you for the superb work
I just watched a video by Glen Hyden titled "Boston guitar tone for the helix" and he 100% nails the rockman tone with the helix. What's ironic is a rockman x100 used costs as much as a used helix and The helix will do a hell of a lot more!😂 So it's a win-win For me🤘
I bought a used Helix about 3 months ago and on board was a preset called Rockman. It's perfect. I used to have an original and then the Rock Modules and this preset is perfect. I do "Amanda" in my show and it rocks.
I stumbled across this looking for Rockman clones, etc. I tried the Amplitube Satriani Collection that had the Rockman X100 clone included and it's very very close, but I believe you've captured it even better. I think you stumbled upon something that makes it more legit sounding, eq out the low, compression, then add back the low end with another eq... I think that's why you get the sparkling highs that you can't really get any other way. You did a great job!! Makes me want to dig deeper into the Rockman circuits too.. Bravo man!
Thank you ! I'll be posting a walkthru of the other patches (Clean 1, Edge, and Distortion) as I get them finished. I've already completed the IR for the Rockman's notorious "complex filter" and created the Clean 1 patch, and when compared to recordings from the X100 it sounds dead-on. When these are all done I will be posting the patches, EQ curves and analysis, and the IR's I built. The hard part will be the distortion circuit. The X100 uses a simple op-amp distortion, so I am hoping I'll find a stompbox model in the Helix that uses similar circuitry. This will be the one area that might not be a 100% match.
Oh, and I forgot to mention how cool the analysis was! I really enjoyed seeing how you can dive into a patent to learn how something works. I've never looked at a patent before.
hello doc,ive watched the whole video, trying to understand (and i got almost 80%lol) ive downloaded the presets and the irs but i dont understand what to do with ir 11 ,its not recalled by any of the presets and the explaination in the txt doesnt explain here to put it ,what its needed for and how to use it :) can you help me understand? thanks for your great job!
Hey, thank you so much! I have a high noise when using this preset (IRs are the right ones). I used different guitars and the problem doesn’t appear on other patches. Do you maybe have got a trick on how to get rid of it?
Even better, it's FREE! If you go to the Line 6 CustomTone shop, you can get this patch and the IR files. line6.com/customtone/search/?submitted=1&family=ALL+PRODUCTS&search_term=x100+lonniewest
Stomp versions I tried to create from the amazing Aging Engineer: Clean 1 line6.com/customtone/tone/5744885/ -- Dist line6.com/customtone/tone/5744887/ -- Edge line6.com/customtone/tone/5744891/
I'm currently reverse engineering the Rockman X100 by looking at the patents, tracing the board and analysing on LTSPICE. I see compressor release time of 2.3 seconds. How do you get 50ms ?
Fascinating approach! Makes perfect sense!
You should sell that patch. sounds great
Thank you sir!! Not all heroes wear capes.

@@AgingEngineer Just watched your video and man you really did nail it! Best I've heard! Again thanks so much!
Very cool!
THANK YOU!!!
Great video, I wonder if you would be able to replicate the Schaffer wireless box that Angus Young uses for compression and expansion?
Alex Bourne sent me!
this is genious but can you give us also a preset for Helix Stomp? cheers
Can you share the circuits in Circuit Lab? I'm interested in experimenting with how changing values in the circuit will affect the output.

Hello, is it possible to create or adapt a preset like this one on Pod Go?
