The tank mission should debuff your tanks just like Stalin's drive for mass amounts of tank production did in real life. Loads of T-34s coming out from rushed production as hot garbage to meet demand, and more importantly, to not upset Stalin. That means too few experienced tank crews, loss of experienced tanks crews due to poor armor, etc. But then after a short period, you should get some sort of buff to maneuverability and speed or something.

So there is a handful of good things with this mod. It doesn't do the superficial realism of Black Ice. Instead it does tasteful things with industry and resources. Like organized industry for railway guns and stuff like V1 rockets and all that. The short focuses with good trees. Good historical stuff like in DH, such as with the raids in Japan. A reasonable amount of research options. Instead its about trade offs, want Mosins or SVT's. Instead of here is a billion things you all need to coordinate for no real reason like in BI. "better historical mod" in ww2 map game exists* = ultra hyper OP Nazi Germany instantly
Tbf to the mod, I've probably only ever seen the German ai beat the Soviets (aka when I'm playing as someone else) a handful of times. They often push to Moscow in 41 and sometimes beyond but nearly always get pushed back and ground down eventually

Try to fight for the territory west of the great river and deal some damage for the cost of the territory. Don't make the common mistake of just giving up territory without a fight and waiting for the fresh enemy forces to break through the river at some point.

losing to win is a god awful game mechanic. Same with giving the AI insane buffs because why not? Just limits the gamplay instead of allowing you to actually out preform the AI, you basically get the shogun 2 treatment where the AI could have no farms, all castles damaged and they could be poor, yet will spam end game units at you like its nothing, with a perma happy population.
recently(about week ago) played ussr in this mod for i think 20th time. Was pushed almost to Urals, but was able to hold Leningrad and Stalingrad just because of forts. USSR just sucks so hard in this mod cuz you have no pen on inf before you take 'Zavod imeni Stalina'. Same goes for air and army, they are basically useless before you do all reforms. I wasn't able to push Germans until 1943 i think. The mod is great, but AI gets so many fucking buffs so it's only funny to play USA and UK.
I think it's really fun, being this hard makes your triumph when you finally figure out how to hold the Germans and counterattack all that more rewarding. The USSR in this mod was the most fun I ever had in this game
@@hamooozmugharbel Yes that does not change however that the USSR is definetly not historical in this mod. It is heavily nerfed compared to a historical USSR
@dwarow2508 ya I agree, still fun!
Maybe you are just noob. I can easily hold Germany at the border in this mod if I micro like a madman@@dwarow2508
@@SJ-xb7lg Micro with what? Your units are worse by default. German mediums click 3 Soviet heavy tank divisions with APCs in this mod. Stop trolling. The whole point is not to be able to hold.
You brave man for playing the Soviets, I salute you. As a World Ablaze veteran this was the hardest thing you could choose to do.
you Sure ? I mean i would imagine that Japan or China are a even worse nightmare. However i never played the Mod so idk.
@@justaplayer94 Japan is very hard because you have to do 100 things all at the same time and with fewer resources and fight the entire allies. China is pure pain because you have crappy militia forces against a professional Japanese army. Soviets are still the hardest nation to win as because the macro and micro are very hard and the German ai is very strong. In the new 8.0 update it is easier to survive as the Soviets but still a challenge to beat the Germans.
I always ignore the winter war, but in the base game they are called in with Germany anyways
The fact that this mod exists just to make it unnecessarily hard...I don't get it really.
I haven't played this mod but I always found USSR to be challenging. Esp. because the Allies tend to be goddamn useless! America would rather conquer Latin America than help!
first time see AI with friking 1700 breakthrough '_'
Because in this mod AI actually knows what the f its doing. Cope.
@SJ-xb7lg bro they literally have a 200% breakthrough buff 😭 thats not the AI being good
How about some Old War Blues to cleanse the palette of this mod?
Literally the only possible sane way is going Trotsky. The USSR is heavily underpowered in this mod in the wrong aspects

well, it's actually not to hard to beat them, and it's damn rewarding. It was probably my fav. time playing Hoi4. I stopped them at Kazan.

This mod stopped being historical a while ago. Nations that got steamrolled IRL should not have super buffs and elite units that are better than majors. A "Historical" France should not be able to hold off the Germans at the start of the war. If you think otherwise, read a book instead of pretending that you have.

glad ur making more singleplayer vids :D
It's kind of funny in how much pain Tommy was. Games are supposed to be fun. Fuck this mod.
Realistically speaking, the player should do much better than the historical Soviets on account of knowing what's going to happen. The Soviets didn't even think Germany would attack them and still held out. If you did that in this mod you'd lose in 2 weeks. This is in no way historical, despite them claiming to make a "historical" mod.
Lol, apperantly when stalin was finally convinced that the germans were attacking he went into a country home for a week and there was no leader of the country . He acted like a hoi4 player😂
No matter how much you cope and with your lack of historical knowledge this is the best hoi4 mod.
World Ablaze would be fun in multiplayer when there's no Shitty AI cheat. Play as Germany and Sov Ai gets >2000 defense, infinite supply, no kidding when one time I played, 4 sov divs got encircled in Hungary's mountain for 4 years and they were unbreakable. And when play as Sov, your div are so trash when the enemies have 2000 atk and breakthrough. Not to menention any attempt to invade UK will be slap with a -99% debuff
So happy to see this back
Wow! They really make the mod after Solzhenitsyn's tales and the "Enemy at the gate" movie! Such USSR would fall long before the war even have started of course. Nevertheless, interesting experience to watch. But definitely not gonna play this nightmare :D

Actually u wanna hold more forward at the forts in that mod to complete the industrial evacuations at minsk and kiev and to buy some time for winter to come. Then u retreat and u scrotch the earth. U also need air in that mod. Anti air is insufficent if don't contest AIR u gonna get melted.

Can someone tell me how to win as the soviets. When i played it was impossible, and now seeing Tommy...
Why do devs just give AI the ability to spawn in units and equipment but not just change the code of the AI to function more like a human player, have them design good units, manage production more efficiently instead of building 97 things like the base game.
Seems like a promising series, thanks for your *P A I N* Tommy !

Every single guy here complaining about cheats and eq spawn is a certified skill issue. World ablaze has its own FAQ explaining why every eq spawn which most of them its because pdx negligence. Also, this mod aims for a historical playthrough, so reallistically its normal to get steamrolled in barb. Playing as soviets, you only have to delay the germans long enough for the winter and hold the three major cities. Trying to play the german doctrine as soviets is just dumb and thankfully not effective.
Ussr is hard af but germany in this mod is pretty simple after you know what to do

But like shits just too scripted and the AI cheats too much. And still the AI manages to fuck up, imagine if Germany did get the Barb buff instead of declaring on Finland and failing to have it.
