I bring my Reloop Spin with me to crate dig and when I'm camping. Unfortunately, since the Stanton can't play 12" that's a big missing feature for me. I'm still thrilled to see a new Stanton product though.
As someone who's been into turntablism for many years, but only really looking into actually getting into it recently, it's really nice seeing portablism becoming more approachable towards beginners to the scene. I only got my first turntables last year, but for my first portable turntable, I was originally looking at a secondhand PT01 or maybe even the DIY Spinbox, since I'm on a bit of a budget. But honestly, after seeing this, I think I might be getting one of these, my fullsize turntables are Stanton's so it only makes sense hah. Cool knowing I also got a good store to grab one from too. Good stuff.
I’ve been on the look out for this ever since I got a glimpse of it in a instagram post . Glad to see it was released. Really hoping this helps get more traction for the Portablism community.
Looks like an awesome update over the other OEM tables. I still have my fully kitted out PT01 Scratch with the JDD tonearm, Solid Kutz platter, arcade start/stop and rechargeable mod. The bluetooth input seems like a really convenient addition.
I was surprised to see this release cause just a few weeks, or months, ago I went to the Stanton site and was wondering if they were still in business.
Ordered one the other day. Always wanted to pick up another portable besides the OG handy trax, but didn’t want to deal with the mods. Design was funky at first, but if it performs straight outta the box I’m widdit! Are there gonna be extra nano faders available so we can have one on both sides? Can’t wait to mess with it! Salute from VA! 🫡
Does the vinyl audio from the STX filter out the lower frequencies? I wanted to sample 7” & 45s but noticed that the low end is missing as compared to my other standard turntables or the Bluetooth connection using the same songs.
Can you change the angle of the fader ? About the usb port does it produce different files or only a master stereo out ? Does the EQ kill all bass ? Does it support DVS ? I heard it only uses one battery and the switches to the other one once emptied but do you have to switch them manually or does it do that automatically ? How long do they last on 0 pitch and how long on low pitch ? What is the pitch range ? Where can you get the stylus if it ever breaks ? Can you have a second crossfader and switch it to line faders like the Omni ? How much does it weight ? how does the start stop button behave when stopped (mk2 like ?) Does the belt jump sometimes like it does on the pt ?
Very good questions. You can adjust the fader to multiple positions just like the pt01 Scratch. You can add a second fader to the other side and switch between them but can't use them at the same time. It does not currently support DVS but I imagine it could in the future. The EQ does kill the bass. As far as the batteries go I have had both batteries in at all times. There is no need for manually switching them. Not sure how long they are good for but will test that in the future. Stylus is the same as the PT01 and is available online. It weighs just a little over 5 lbs. The start and stop button activates and deactivates the platter instantly. I haven't had the belt jump off yet but will be testing more. I'll dive more into the USB Recording features and touch on all these questions in the next video.
im an old dude who used to hang out with some good ass battle djs that wants to put some scratching into his drone video techno tracks. mine should be delivered in 20 mins can't wait.
this looks fly and sturdy .im still happy with my headache sounds unit but i do see some features i wouldnt mid seeing on mine like the lid being a usable base
Looks dope! They were soooooo close to perfect. If the design allowed an additional nano fader on the other side and DVS support 👨🏽🍳😚 I have an OMNI V2 and I cut with both hands so this is crucial.
I will definitely be getting this portable. Specially after waiting 2 years for my free Omni turntable that I won and did not get... On the side note, looks like the tonearm is the same as the PT01, should Jesse Dean's fit?
I want to learn scratching but I don’t want any complicated setups. Would this be something I should start with? Or is there a virtual one with preloaded instrumentals so I don’t have to find records first
I am trying to run my Stanton with the USB cable into my laptop on Ableton but it only recognizes it as an output device, any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I've heard about the fluttering of audio playback while using the slowest levels of ultra pitch and I got one with the same problem. Is there any remedy for this? Would a firmware update help this??.. i think not. Any ideas? It's the only problem with this otherwise great table, imo. Seriously, amy answers?
Can the unit itself be powered via usb C brick/power bank if its batteries were low or out of juice. Or basically w/o the batteries in the unit? Thanks for the vid, been waiting since your ig unveil last week.
are these still belt driven motor? …. I’ve had vestax, Numark and always felt awkward if your cutting left hand on fader it was more awkward position but this seems to have solved that … great job by Stanton coming back strong … would have been crazy if they had old school focus fader on these lol
My Stanton turntable lasted for about 1 minute then went faulty in many ways. I’d like to think it was the delivery guys that damaged it as it wasn’t packed very well at all(Amazon). Maybe buy it from a shop and get it home yourself. Waited 20 years to start scratching again, guess I’ll be waiting a while longer!
Gutted!...No volume control for the 'aux in' .....that is a major oversight!...would have been nice to get a level indicator for the output level too🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@@Swiftstyle Hope so, otherwise they should've just sat on the sideline and let Heasache Sound handle this. How would you compare to the Omni? I think I remember you demoing one?
Hello everyone! I would like to return to turntablism. Not for a career just a hobby at home. I don't know if Stanton STX is a good choice. In my Country I can buy Numark PT01 Reloop Spin or Stanton STX. Could someone tell me if the Stanton STX has a replaceable phono cartridge? Is the original phono cartridge sufficient or is it better to replace it with another one?
I like that they made an effort to design new features and making it a true plug’n’play experience (batteries included!). Layout looks well thought out too. The larger footprint is great, but the omission of 12” records is a bit of a head scratcher. Unfortunately, this thing looks hideous. Reminds me of a boxy cousin of the EKS Otus. Ugh. I’d still recommend an Omni as a true do it all portable.
Been looking for one of these, or maybe two tbh. Was looking at the Numark PT01 because it's cheaper but the fader in this one seems way better. So if I'm correct, NEITHER of them can play 12" right now?
@@Swiftstyle thanks mate, being able to input via bluetooth is HUGE, and probably the biggest selling point for me, as I do a lot of production on my tablet
I liked everything until 7" only at that point was an absolute fail. I was day dreaming about using my phone kaosilator through blue tooth on this unit with my 78' and 33's.
No 12' inch? Hmm .. so no use diggin..or portable DJing ...just for scratching . Stantin could place buttons differently so it would fit 12' ... . But still great to see the something fresh✌
I get it. Honestly I don’t get the hype with this new era of 7” record scratching. In all of my years, 10” vinyl scratches the sturdiest and has more hand space.

Can't play 12" records. That's a deal breaker. And the cheap plastic and sapphire stylus is a bad move too. Ironic for a company who were the industry standard for styluses for years. I've got ST-150 turntables that have served me well for over a decade. I've also got a drawer full of Stanton cartridges that are useless because they kept discontinuing the replacement styluses.
I'm not really understanding how Stanton & this product fits InMusic's business model. Each of their brands caters to a specific niche. Denon caters to the pro-sumer, Numark for entry level & bedroom DJ, Rane caters to Turntablists & open format. I'm not sure where Stanton falls into that business model. Especially since they've already developed a following for portables under Numark. STX is essentially what a new PT would've been.
Speaker not loud enough and cuts out if turn phone up past three quarters. Fine for first ten minutes after fully charged but then starts doing it. No charging indicator, very annoying. Stanton don't sell the faders separately to double up. Hopefully they'll sort it out. Other than that dope.

Facts you'd need to buy an entirely separate portable for digging.. I'm sticking with my Numark..
It doesn’t fit 12”!! Just realized this when I saw your comment. Deal breaker, unfortunately. The Reloop Spin lives on…
I second that... a dealbteaker

is it possible to add a second fader? as a newbie im really not sure what hand will want to do what.
Inno is working on an option right now. This way you can have two stock faders.
I want it badly. But it doesn't play 12" ahhhh so gotta decide what I want to do.
Where can we buy mods? I haven't found much. Skin templates and stuff would be cool too
Glaring omission is that it can't play 12" records. What's a portable turntable that you can't take with you to digging trips?
It was going so well, but only fits 7inch recs? what a huge oversight.
Stanton dj confirmed that it can play 10 inch and 12 inch also
