Lexus and Toyota are selling extremely well because many consumers have now decided reliability is important due to them keeping vehicles for a longer term due to the bad economy and high purchase price.

Toyota strength has always been that they quickly fix issues, have way less issues, higher resale value, and last longer than 99% of other car brands. That strength still exist.

19:45 coz most of their issues are internal. They havent done anything to seriously harm their customer relationship.
“Seriously harm” here is relative speak ofcourse. People still didnt like the fact that their trucks are more complicated, hence reducing reliability. But atleast they never alienated their own customer base. Ie: sienna sales arent as great as they were a dew years ago, but they still try for that. And theyve always tried to balance gov mandates and what people want, meeting both sides in the middle.
But heck, they did the recalls, and thats basically them admitting and taking responsibility.
While these recalls dampen their reliability legacy, it hasnt wavered customer trust for the most part.
I would like my car company to make these recalls tbh. Especially for such a new ground-up designs.
And yes, “so many eggs in so many baskets” is something that not alot of companies can pull off. Heck, on a global scale, i can safely say that toyota n VW are the only two that pulled this off successfully.

the really nice ones are usually reserved for the top trim models, and even that depend on the models.
Coz the RX cabin in top trim is spectacular. And the LS… well, its an LS… too bad nobody wants them.

Toyota needs better quality standards and control. And Bev's! At least in Europe.
