That's not normal I don't believe. I never had a problem with mine. Mine had a Werk Brau thumb tho. The pressure should be set so that it is slightly less than the bucket curl so that you can continue curling the bucket even after you have grabbed an object. It should struggle a little while overpowering the thumb. If yours easily overtakes the thumb while curling you may be able to have the dealer adjust that pressure.

I charge $95/hour for the machine and operator and then the cost to transport the machine.
