Been watching this car from the day you revealed it. Im currently building a e46 wagon as a 4 seater party car with a m60b40. Thank you for being a big inspiration for this build
Sad to see the diesel go but you're right you can never go wrong with a 2j. Excited to see what happens next and I hope we get a build series! Keep on shredding man!
@dylanhughes7015 hey you did better than me. I am the world’s worst about saying “ummmmm” and I’m also pretty bad about taking the scenic route in a conversation. 😂 The comment was all in good fun. No harm meant. Enjoy the content 💪
You could put a forged m57d30 in it aswell, they are a bit more torquey than the om606 because of the 88/90mm stroke. Also you can make cool pops and bangs and even antilag when its commonrail.
There is no way to make these things non laggy. The stock cams are more for higher rpm like 6000 +. There needs to be custom cams for these for like a truck. The stock profile doesnt move the air for low rpms. Unless you can put a blower on it to work with your turbo...
I would like to add some food to this feast. OM606 can rev to up to 7800rpm, if you want to read rpm, use the W terminal from the alternator and put into a Dakota digital box, or run speed but gauges. You can run bigger turbos on there like s200 and some s300 frames. I have a OM605 with a .75 ar twin scroll S257SXE on there and it makes around 600whp. Myna 8mm pump of course to help, and fully built engine rods and all.
There are offroad dudes on romania who run the SH!t out of those things. Might be something to consider. The only bummer is, those engines a very ugly.
I am a diesel mechanic by trade, and a German car enthusiast for fun. I don’t blame you one bit for going to the JZ. Small diesels are ungodly expensive and just not as fun as you’d hope in that type of application. Execution of the setup was superb though!
The super short runner DPUK billet manifold is going to hurt your low-end torque and only benefit the top range to make numbers. That would be okay if you could get it to spool faster but you're having trouble with that. Honestly, keep the OM606 and work on it. You already have a 2JZ car. Clearly, Blacksmokeracing went to an OM648 long ago for better control in drifting. Do all of the tricks to get that boost to come on earlier and you should be able to make a good car.
He probably also needs a smaller exhaust housing. That one looks pretty big for a diesel. He can also have the pump setup to run more RPM, there is some people running 8000rpm on OM606s... if he's can get the turbo to spool at 2500 rpm, then he can have 5000rpm of useable power.
I have spoken with Blacksmoke guys about my setup. 606 is not it for drifting. I didn't even get into the fact that this engine super heats itself as your running it, being a pre chamber engine. I will get another diesel and try again at another time!
Eh Im in the same rut as Dylan, I like my om606 but yeah once you start building for power they get pretty laggy. Im gonna switch up to om648 so I can get some more low end
@rickyjohnston1247 ya i understand I have m57 at 450bhp with vnt turbo which is animal and would be alot better but he went that way ..but there is alot of ways to fix it twin scroll turbo with spool valve and could supercharge it all has been done by people he got engine off ... just drives me crazy when people half do things then say they don't work ..who wants to see another 2j it's be played out
everyone calls the om606 the diesel 2jz and they're great engines but a high hp m57 has better potential and is not as laggy. M57 beats OM606 all day, everyday.

I cant wait to see your car done! Thank you for following!👏

Talk to the finns at black smoke racing, and look into their 3.2 engine package
According to Banks, black smoke is lost power. You have to decide how cool the smoke actually is.
Maaaaaaan this is one of my favorite builds in drifting. Sad to see it go.
Its unfortunate but i have feeling we will get back on the diesel again one of these days. That OM648 looks sweet.
@@Barbiesmalibudriftmissile ya just another 2jz e46 been done a million times
@@dylanhughes129 as long as I can get a ride at gridlife someday I’ll be super pumped whatever you develop man 🤙🏻
You know you love your e36 and want a m50 in the wagon too
Honestly that would be sick. A stood up S54 would be pretty cool too 🤙
Dylan "At the End of The Day" Hughes. 🤣 Just a joke. This is one of my favorite cars and cant wait to see it ripping with the new setup
I said it a few times for sure. Dylan "UHHHHH" Hughes 🤣

Sounds like she needs a supercharger...js. Cool ass build..!!
can you put a smaller exhaust housing on the turbo to help with spooling? bigger injectors?

been looking for an om606, what are you looking to get for it dylan?

Are you going to be at Grid Life Summer Apex at Road America this year?
I don't usually run the road America event unfortunately. :/
@dylanhughes7015 well that's a bummer!
The climate folks going to love this 😂😂
do you have the quick spool valve from DPUK ? they have few solutions how to make boost at low rpm with this engine
I do not! I considered it, but I like my v band turbos!
@@dylanhughes129 the DPUK quick spool valve should wake up a larger turbo than you have on there right now.
@dylanhughes129 you can get twin scroll v band garret turbos and can get convert from quick spool t3 to v band so that doesn't make any since
I vote for a Pikes Peak car with this engine and compounds.
Interesting! Thanks for the idea ill think about it. Compounds would be sweeet!

Hey Dylan! other than the engine, is there anything you would of done different?
Honestly, not really man, I am super happy with the car overall! What would you have done different?
Have you taken measures to prevent the intercooler pipe from falling out?
Yes! bead rolled charge pipes certainly helped!
just compound charge it so it will make the best noises ever!
I dont think it should be laggy. I dont know much about the om606 but the M57(the engine from e46 330d) has pretty good response
There are offroad dudes on romania who run the SH!t out of those things. Might be something to consider. The only bummer is, those engines a very ugly.
@dylanhughes7015 yeah:))) Im from Romania. The good part is they are reliable enough so you dont lift the hood often:))
Do a Ford Barra engine 🤙🏼
That would be sick, I got my first taste of barra hangin with LZ this year. So cool!

Lost respect now your just follow crowd you could make that work easy but you won't do last few things to make it awesome
