    I drove a Brockway, 1974 model, 761 .... It had a 270 Cummins with a 9507 Fuller.
We tree length logs down in Mississippi. It was great fun for a young man.....

My Grandfather and his brother owned many Brockway trucks . One of the wrecks of those trucks my grandfather turned into a pick-up that he called the Huskie Pup. The company he and his brother inherited from their father Ernest Allen Sr. was named Allen Coal Company. My older Brother has 99% -100% of the records to all the Brockway trucks the family owned when the company was going well. My grandfather's nephew Ernie Lyons is the current owner of the beloved Huskie Pup.
My older brother and I grew up riding in the one our father drove which was a V-12 which had the #72 on the front bumper.

There was a lot of Brockway trucks here in Eastern Kentucky hauling coal back in the day. Until the DM and RD Mack’s took it over

Grew up in McDowell & Wyoming co. WV. A lot of Brockways had Detroits in them. You're right Macks replaced them but lots of IH Paystar 5000s and Ford 9000s too. Bluestone Coal had those beast off road Autocars, those were impressive as hell.

I wonder which truck would be worth more, the F model Mack, or 400 Brockway?

I drove a little of everything as a kid, anxious to be behind the wheel. I had my own share of trucks .... as a beginner, I wasn't too harsh on running gear. I drove macks, auto car, FWD, and all non descrip trucks that had yet to make a name. I started steady in a pete kit on a mack frame and it was at the least, only a shadow of a truck, but we hauled just as much. I owned the international, then a mack, and finally a pete. I was in love and thought that god stopped right there. But time went on and so did I an so back to work for the other guy crawled in to a KW and then is when I knew god did love me. I put a million and an half on that truck alone as a long haul, local haul, an hard haul. If it was moved with a truck then I did too, an if we thought it could I gave it a try. Listening to this trucks story makes me wish I had driven one. I have a idea for a truck cab never tried before and think it would be a hit at least in some corner of the world. I sure wish I had one today to play with

Brockway let you chose your driveline, where Mack tended to push their driveline. If you've ever drove a Mack, their a weird beast with wide spaced gear ratio. Brockway let you choose from every engine, transmission, suspension, drive axles to what you wanted. My only complaint was the cabs were not made for tall people.

It wouldn't make sense designing the Superliner To Be A Brockway if they had been 'planning on shutting it down'. 🤔

Didn't Brockway buy cabs from Mack for the 400 (Mack F) & 600 series (Mack R)? The development costs associated with a new cab design were just too high. Brockway was on the way out at the time anyway.
