In support of your work, you’ve consistently noted that you are not a doctor. I view these videos as an online support group for people suffering from diabetes. It has always been clear that you are discussing your personal journey, and things that you’ve found helpful. I live in the U.S , and there are many TH-cam content providers with U.S channels devoted to discussing their personal experiences, challenges, and observations relating to various diseases and afflictions. You are providing a platform that many people appreciate. Ignore the ignorant and keep going. Many thanks for all that you do including your books, and all of the Writerlywitterings content.
Many thanks, John - I really appreciate the support!
Try to have your carb treats after some protein. It slows things down.
Thanks for that. I'll give it a try - I tend to avoid all carbs, to be honest, but for the winter I can imagine returning to porridge for breakfast - but perhaps an egg before the porridge would work? I'll try it.
In the United States we call your naysayer, a Karen. We all deal with them. I appreciate hearing about your experiences and I have had many more in depth conversations with my physician, who has put me on a program and sent a consult order for an eye doctor not the standard optomitrist. I thank you for sharing your diabetes experences. We often aren't aware of anyting beyond monitoring our blood sugars and our insulin shots. I thank you.
Thanks so much for that. I really hope that my experiences and the way my health has been affected is going to help other people - and I have to admit, it's a two-way street. It's motivating for me to hear back from others who're suffering from this dreadful disease. Keep healthy!
Oh, for pitys sake! Can't believe the woman thinks you are dispensing medical advice when you have made it crystal clear that you are relating your personal experiences. For what it is worth, I enjoy checking in with you every week to keep up with my own struggle against this dreadful disease. You encourage me to work on looking after myself. This is a war, not a battle, and I have to fight every day to monitor myself, eat well, and stay active. It is so comforting to share the journey with you!
Thanks for that, John, and all I can say is, I feel exactly the same - it is so good to hear from people like you, who are going through the same experience, and hearing back from guys like you helps keep my brain in gear and fighting this blasted disease!
Thank you for the rant. Rant away, sir. I know you are only sharing your personal experiences and not prescribing and medication or "cure". If that was the case, I would be sadly brought up on charges for impersonating a physician or dietician.
Have you tried a mango, yet? If you do I would suggest not eating one that is fully ripe, unless you enjoy eating it in a bathtub from all the juice that would be dripping from it.
As for beans, here is what I personally found:
Black beans, Lima beans, Navy beans, and Chick peas, I can tolerate well. Red beans and Kidney beans I cannot (I don't know if they are the same or not.)
I also seem to metabolize white rice faster than brown rice. It is the bran that is washed off white rice that slows the absorption of the starch.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for that, Paul, and I promise I'll continue to rant when I get the opportunity! No, not tried a mango yet - and certainly won't eat it in the bath! However, I will give it a go.
As for beans and chickpeas - I haven't seen any issue with any of them so far. I do avoid white rice like the plague, and brown (only a 30g spoon's worth) has little impact. Then again, 30g is such a tiny amount (less than a tablespoon) it's hardly surprising!
On behalf of all Americans I apologize for the fool 😂😂😂. We have a lot of stupid Karen's here.
Ah, we have our own over here too - but thanks, Tracy. It was a stupid comment, presumably from someone who has no knowledge about Diabetes, and who had not watched any of my videos. I can't get too upset about it, but it did niggle, as you can imagine!
@@writerlywitterings for sure !! 🤣. You've helped me a good with my new diagnosis and for years before that.
