    About Spain and the bulls, us younger generations have since some time ago been standing against these events but it is very difficult to erradicate them, since older generations consider and have always considered these as a tradition and an 'art', so it would be scandalous to them. Nonetheless more and more people are supporting the cause of eliminating the bull events.
    Edit: I forgot to say that a considerate part of youngsters are pro-bulls because of influences from their families, so that's also to take into consideration

    30:31 I think at the time the Swedish king had a lot of power and he was a nazi (or possibly just allied with them) I think Swedish politicians (correct me if I'm wrong) wanted to help the Norwegian royal family to flee the nazis but the king blocked them from entering the country. What makes it even worse is that the (Norwegian) Queen was from Sweden.

  • @dewandewan

    I usually listen to these facts rather unbothered, but the part about bulls in Spain really upset me :c

    • @Eli-qb2sw
      @Eli-qb2sw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tbh I'm Spanish and I had never heard of half the stuff she talked about. What it's common here are "Los Toros" which is basically a profesional bull handler kills the bull in a festival instead of it just going to a slaughter house. Also those bulls are specifically raised for festivals and up untill that point they even have Air conditioner and miles of land just for themselves in order to raise them properly (this festival is really controversial tho bc here celebrating our heritage and traditions is stereotyped to be very closely tied with politics) . The setting the bull on fire was likely a local thing in some village or smth and they just added it as if it were an actual tradition, since the actuall race of bull used for traditions and cultural festivals is really expensive and it's meat its one of the most expensive and high quality meats in the world. And sometimes the bull is even spared and it goes on to live a happy life and breed with other cows.

    • @Eli-qb2sw
      @Eli-qb2sw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ok so I looked it up and no, they do not set a bull on fire omg, they put torches on its horns and it runs through the streets illuminating them as a millenia old ritual (I'm talking 6000bc) after that the bull is sacrificed and eaten.

    • @Eli-qb2sw
      @Eli-qb2sw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I always feel forced to defend this bc even if I don't particularly agree with what they are doing, Spain still gets a bad rep for it and people won't look into it and it's not a carnage, it's a ritual from our ancestors that tries to make the animal suffer as less as possible bc 1. We are not monsters 2. Meat gets ruined if the animal dies stressed.

    • @Eli-qb2sw
      @Eli-qb2sw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also, the numbers on how many bulls die a year bc of cultural festivals (if it refers to Spain only) its highly inflated, since each year there is an average of 350 events with 6 bulls being sacrificed per event and a few more festivals so I doubt the number of sacrificed bulls in festivals surpasses 10k.

    Here is my reaserch journey as I discovered why none of what she just said sounded familiar to me as a native (except the first part, bc I know nothing about that specific ritual but it sound like something we would have done)
