Edward Albert and his father Eddie Albert sat down to give an interview about the Martin guitar, Woody Guthrie had given to Eddie Albert in 1940 for all of the kindness that Eddie Albert showed to Woody and his family during their struggles in the late 1930s after arriving in California. The Interview took on its own life as the formalities fell away and Eddie and Edward both just fell into conversation and reminiscent stories.
This guitar was owned and used by Woody to write many songs that became folk music history. The guitar still bares Woody's name as he carved it onto the body as well as "This machine kills fascists". It was a great treat to hold this guitar as well as examine it.
Edward Albert, like his father, was also a very kind and gracious person. It was a pleasure knowing him for that brief time before his passing. I thought I would share this entire exchange between father and son because it was such a natural and organic afternoon in the pacific palisades... Enjoy all 4 parts!!
You can tell the kind of father Edward Albert had, the influence he had on him. He loved his father, cared very much for him too. Eddie Albert had lost some of his hearing, made it more difficult to hear, but he still had a good memory. The way father and son interacted and the respect they had for each other. What Edward Albert was fortunate to grow up with, his father being musical and an actor. It was very two nice men and gentlemen. It was very sad Edward died after the year his father died, think of lung cancer. (Eddie Albert's white hair was beautiful then, that smile of his, his son's too.)
As a long time admirer and fan of Eddie Albert, this four-part post was a joy to watch. Both Eddie and his son Edward seem like genuinely great people. A copy of this should be sitting in the Smithsonian for safe keeping and a reference to one of our many national treasures. Thank you for the post.
Thanks for presenting this series. They were both pretty classy guys. RIP fellows!
Wow, this was fantastic! Thank you, thank you for sharing this. How absolutely lovely, this father and son moment.
yes.. it was a very memorable day. Edward was such a great guy.. So when he called and asked us to come to his Fathers house and shoot this we made it happen :) His Father was a legend...
Creative Worx Motion Media he was indeed! How special for you that you were able to be part of this 💕
@GENERAL DISARRAY'S BOSS 83 did we shoot this for free?? is that your question?? We originally went over as a favor for our friend Edward to shoot some video of the guitar and some stories regarding the guitar and it turned into a delightful afternoon... The guitar which was a gift from Woody Guthrie was to be auctioned off to help pay for some living expenses medical expenses.. I believe it sold for over 100k
@GENERAL DISARRAY'S BOSS 83 Thank you... Yes we all had a great day. It was very sad to lose them both in such a short amount of time Edward was very cool and creative as well.
@@Soozalou397 I really enjoyed being a part of this that day...
Amazing interview. Heartwarming, informative and sad. You can tell that Eddie Albert is struggling to process a lifetime of amazing memories. The only problem he has is getting it out! Wonderful father and son.
Yeah, I agree. Guitar > Piano!
"I won't go any further and her mother didn't like it!" Priceless!! Thank you so much for this.
What a career Mr. Albert had! One of the most likable actors there ever
was. Rest in peace, both father and Edward, the son, who passed just one year after Dad in 2006.
How did Edward the son die? I just learned about him when I watched the movie Butterflies Are Free. Such a good movie! Him and Goldie...so touching.
@@exploringtheparanormalwith81 Lung cancer at age 55
Thanks for letting me know.
What a blessing both father and son were. Both so gifted and beautiful human beings. Thank you for the series of videos. Loved it!
Beautiful to watch . RIP great men
This is so sweet. What a very long and remarkable life he led.
+Agent Fungus I now own Eddie Alberts house in the Hollywood Hills, overlooking the valley, and the Hollywood sign. Very lucky. 1925 Spanish villa.
He probably would have lived to 115 without the alzhiemers. Physically he was in good condition especially considering he was 95 here.
@@coltsuperocean10 Thanks for sharing your post....very cool and heartwarming.
@@michaelhungate7506I was really impressed with his son. Listen to how he enunciates his words so clearly. He was so handsome when he was young.
Mr. Albert was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 1995, but music really does trigger memories in patient's with this disease. And, what a wonderful son.
I really enjoyed this. He will be remembered.
Eddie is a dream. Father,&witch Mountain is the first in move theater memory I have ♥️♥️
It's so sad his son passed away too early due to illness.
What illness did his son pass away of?
Alisha Taylor lung cancer 😢
Alyce W. Wow so young
Alyce W. Did his son have kids?
Alisha Taylor It’s a sad story...He had one daughter. He and his wife were married close to 30 years, up until his death and his wife has died since then, also from cancer.
excellent singing Eddie for a guy who had alzhimers
Musical ability comes from a different part of the brain. That's why a stupid person can be an excellent musician and a genius can't carry a tune in a bucket. Mr. Douglas's musical ability is still good here.
Mr. Douglas certainly lived in a much better house after he left Hooterville.
Yeah he certainly upgraded.
His son is handsome
NOT ONE QUESTION ABOUT
THE TV SHOW “GREEN ACRES”
RIP Eddie & Eddie Jr🙏
Did I miss something, or did they talk about anything else but the guitar?🖋
