  • Episode 1 of my Carrera 132 scale Digital Slot car Reviews. Kicking it off with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 car. Unboxing, straight out of box lapping. I then sand down the rear tires and give it another go to see if I can get my lap time down.
Using the SmartRace app for all timing.

The audio is really quiet in some places. I'd work on getting it higher. Good video besides that.

Sunday Slot Cars thanks for the advice! Yeah I have to look into investing in a mic and a tripod mount as well.

Nice video. I am just getting into slot car racing myself and have ordered the DTM Speed Memories which is due out in late June or early July. What type track you have? I like the bridge and the straightaway.

Nice, welcome to the hobby! This layout is a mix of an older set and some extra track that I bought from my local hobby shop. I do a full break down in one of my other videos about setting up my layout.

I have just built my track on a 6 by 12 table as well I like your track layout and would like to build the same layout to utilize as much of the surface as possible. Do you have a diagram outline the track pieces used to build.
    Thx

Hi Bill, yeah for the most part all the magnets are installed. I’ve removed them on a few cars just to give them a go, it’s a nice change up. You really need to have more of a “feel” for the car.

Hi Massimo, I am looking at getting into this and I like the size of your track and the layout. It’s nicely detailed and inspirational! I have been debating between 124 and 132. Any thoughts?. Thanks for mentioning the hobby shop. I live in the GTA and was looking for a place with the best prices. I am thinking of downloading the track layout designer...I understand it may take time to get to a layout I am happy with... Thanks!

Hi Mayur! Thanks I appreciate that! I guess in terms of 124 or 132 it’s just comes down to personal preference. I personally enjoy racing the 132s but the 124s are fun as well. Also I guess it may depend on the size of track you decided to build. The track designer was a massive help, it took me a few try’s to get the layout I’m currently running. And for sure, check out Panther Hobbies, they’re a great bunch over there and a pleasure to deal with. In the GTA there’s also Big Boys with Cool Toys. I’ve also had good experiences ordering from Slot Car Space Solutions in Vancouver. He has a great selection and shipping has been very fast. And also Sunday Slot Cars in southern Ontario, another guy with great selection and fair/quick shipping. Feel free to email me anytime if you have any questions and I can try my best to help.

Ken Jencks thanks! I started with the F1 World Champs set that I had and downloaded the carrera track designer software to come up with my current layout and bought the extra track required.

    Ciao Massimo! Parli Italiano?
I have this same issue with the Ferrari 488 GT3 that admittedly it was marked as not suitable for tight turns: I also flattened the tires but it has not much improved on the time since it keeps drifting, but at least it doesn't jump out of the rails.
I'm also a noob like you on this hobby started at home during this pandemic: I'm still racing on the GT Triple Power default track but I already have some plans to build a flat track without bridges. I'm testing my cars using the SmartRace app too and on my track the Porsche 911 RS has clocked about 320KmH as the fastest just out of the box! Maybe you should try that car as well: even without using the clock you will just see how fast it is!
Carrera IMO is the best on quality and features, but I really would like to see more LMP 1 and 2 although to have them really shine you need some 300m straights!
I love Toronto! Cheers from Italy. Stay safe

Ciao! Si parlo un po 'di Italiano. Thanks for the comment and information! Yeah I feel a lot of people picked up hobbies during this pandemic, at least we picked a fun one right? Haha
Yeah I agree on the Porsche 911 RSR, I think it’s one of the best cars I own right now. A bullet and sticks to the track really nice. It was quicker than my Formula 1’s at one point.
Keep enjoying the hobby! I love Italia, have lots of family still there. Hope I can come back soon to visit once all this is over. Stay safe my friend.

@@MPSlotCar I've just made an amazing discovery that I wasn't able to find anywhere else: I used a plain cotton straw with Acetone (the one you buy in any store, used to clean stains from clothes) and rubbed thoroughly all the tires and now both the GT3 488 and the Huracan are clocking above 300 KmH on the standard track from my set!
The Lambo has even made the track record lap so it's now the racing top dog! 8D
You should try this trick before any race and you'll see a huge difference...
      Salutoni!

@@sanatkumarasharma3627 Hallo I just bought my soons the Carrera DIGITAL 132 DTM Furore. It's just amazing and fun.
1: I could not find the lap counter in the set?
2: What is "I used a plain cotton straw with acetone, the one u buy in any store, used to clean stains from clothes" 🤷‍♂️
Hope you will ansver me. 🤗

    • @sanatkumarasharma3627
      @sanatkumarasharma3627 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@benjaedits7 As far as I know there are no lap counters in any Carrera kits: it is much easier to get a bluetooth expansion you connect to the CU and sync a tablet or phone to it via the Carrera or the Smartrace app.
As Massimo is showing in this video you may need to work on the rear tires to make the cars more stable: if your car is jumping out of the slot you will also need to properly adjust the contact brushes so that they are mostly flat but still in good contact with the electrified rails.
As for the acetone I use the milder one, the one used to clean clothes' stains, and rub the tires' surface using a cotton straw 'till I remove all dust and dirt from them.
The cars will have a much better grip but it will last only for some laps. In fact to actually correct the exaggerated sliding of some cars I added another strong magnet to the rear one and now all cars stay on the rails but they can still slide a bit and derail if you are carelessly pushing your thumb too much...

  • @Friskee62

Lose the magnet...then run it. Most racing is done without magnets...

I agree, all my club cars are non mag. At home it’s a mix with the Carrera track. Although I enjoy non mag running over mag.
That being said I do most of my out of box reviews with the mags in to run em as is. But 100% agree with ya Thomas. Thanks for watching ✌🏼
