I'm Brazilian and l've lived in the USA since 96, my wafe and l went to france to experience this wolrd cup up close, we watched six games, thirteen of Brazil and thee of Argentina, including this match against the orange, we were at the Stadium in Marselha velodrome l remember the goal Bergkamp until today, in the last moments it was shocking to see the reaction of the argentine fans, they were perplexed, l coudn' t belive it and l was there in the middle of that crowd of Dutch and Argentines, uniformed with the French team's shirt playing like a frenchmam.
What a goal from Bergkamp. The second touch after he controls the ball from the cross and bounces it off the ground under the Argentinian player is magnificent.

That Holland squad was loaded from top to bottom. Every single member of that team would play in Europe outside of the Dutch League at one point or another.
The Argentina team was stacked too. Crespo was world class at this time, but overshadowed by Batistuta. Redondo had a falling out with Passarella On paper this could've easily been the WC Finals that year, but there were so many great teams and stars at the top of their game. One of the top 10 WC matches I've ever seen. And imho France 98 was the greatest overall WC in history from start to finish. So many remarkable matches

Netherlands vs Mexico Italy vs Chile Spain vs Nigeria Germany vs Yugoslavia And a lot of the "smaller" teams except for Paraguay didn't just sit back vs more "traditional" world class talented teams and play anti football and trying to win on penalties. I think the Netherlands vs Argentina was the match of the tournament although there could've been at least 3 other matches imho: Netherlands vs Brazil Argentina vs England Denmark vs Brazil That could've taken that title. Racist Le Pen didn't like the Black/Arab influence on the French NT but one can't argue with the results. Although they couldn't strike for up front to save their lives.....especially compared to 82 and 86 this was probably their best national team in their history.
France 98 still remains the best WC that I have watched from start to finish. It was a WC with overall quality with lots of top tier players on show. WC 2014 and WC 2018 weren't that bad. I didn't enjoy WC 2022 but the final was entertaining from the 80th minute onwards.

Not true. First Dugarry got injured in the first Match. And Guivarch who couldnt score Even without goalkepeer had to be a started until the end of the tournament. Second: they sent off Zidane in the second Match for really something they called agresión against an arabian player. And if You watch again that IS NOT a red Card . They gave Zidane TWO MATCHES of sanción for an unfair red Card. Third: They again sent off Laurent Blanc in semifinals for another "agresión" against Croatia. And they had to use Leboeuf in the final. France really had to overcome a lot of unfair decitions against them to win that world cup

Este partido lo he visto por lo menos tres veces, soy de COLOMBIA, casi siempre apoyo a los equipos suramericanos, con la selección ARGENTINA no tanto , reconozco que nos llevan años luz con respecto a nosotros , pero, no me gusta como juegan contra INGLATERRA, ALEMANIA u HOLANDA; siempre quieren intimidar al rival sin darse que ellos también son buenos, este partido fué particularmente muy difícil para ambas escuadras porque sus jugadores tenían un buen nivel, claro no todos , pero la mayoría jugaban en grandes ligas de ESPAÑA, ITALIA, ALEMANIA e INGLESA , por eso en el partido ya se conocían, sin embargo , me quedo con la calidad de BERGKAMP , wow, siempre lo voy a admirar , en el año de 1974 JOHANN CRUYFF era un monstruo ,lástima que después de él no ha habido otro jugador igual en HOLANDA , claro su estilo de juego ha cambiado mucho desde entonces
