the v3 fixed many of these issues. I got mine a few days ago & all the zippers feel smooth & I haven't noticed any strain or snagging on the laptop zipper when its packed for a long trip or full with groceries. Also comes with strap keepers on most of the straps
Where do u get the V3 ? When Im on the site it doesn’t say any Versions of the bag, are they just now only shipping out V3s ? Im really interested in getting one
@@MrYondaime705 The v3 is the only one they sell on their website now. It doesn't say on the website that its a v3 but the manual that comes with the bag says version 3 / 3rd production (need to double check what the exact phrase they used is but its definitely a new version than what's covered in this video)
@@MrYondaime705 Yeah they only sell the v3 now. Doesn't say anywhere but the little manual book the comes with the bag says "Alpha 31 - 3rd Production". I think I actually got the first ever 3rd production run bag
I have this bag, it is awesome. Kinda wish I had black as well - so flashy. The org kits are a nice addition too.
It would be great to see the material used for the water bottle sleeve to be used with the front tech pockets “inside 6inch up” to keep things from falling out as you mentioned.
Agree on most points : this bag has everything spot on but the whole laptop section design ans zipper.
Haven't visited this channel in a while. I don't know what happened to Chase, but good review from grizzled bearded mountain man. will check out the bag.

Its a really nice backpack, I love rolltop's and bags made in that fabric but the laptop compartment is a scary one lol i'd be scared about all that weight pressing down on it and then the fact from the inside its not really protected, i'd be tempted to put it in a case but there no room for that

Those are dope glasses Chase! Could you tell me the name of them? I also must say I agree with you regarding the laptop compartment needing some more padding. My 15in PC is a bit of a chungus and I could foresee some possible issues when packed out as you mentioned. Otherwise, it looks like a rad bag and hopefully the guys at Alpha can come up with a solution.

this or the ATD2/ATD1? initial impressions seem to be that this is strappier, with less volume flexibility, and higher weight vs ATD
Black epx600 is def the move here. Silver uvx40 is awesome no doubt, but hard to beat the black silhouette for the A31.
But 300gr for color. Tough pill to swallow for me.

@@denis-kravets I know what the site says - however I also think they put that weight down based on estimates of fabric weight. All I know is I weighed my white one, and I weighed by black one and they were basically the same. Maybe it would change between each pack? no idea.
@@MrSobakaforte could we discuss it somewhere? Like email or whatever. I’m a huge. Enormous. Outrageous fan of this pack. It would be cool for me to see some evidence. If so -> could be worth trying to buy for myself a black one.
It would be cool if they made a male-male short clip bridge for the roll top as an option.
Hey Chase, thanks for the review! I've always had a question, what happens to the zippers when they get worn out from use? Do you get them replaced or is the bag now not as water resistant anymore? Always had issues with bags with zippers that are supposed to keep things dry, once the zips get worn out the bag doesnt work as well anymore. Thank you!
Yea, zips are the first thing to go (besides shoulder strap attachments). If you're good with sewing it's possible to repair, but not at all easy to do. The main zip on this one (front beaver paddle) actually isn't water sealed, relying on a large lip of fabric to cover the zip, which I think works pretty well and will likely work for a longer period of time. The water sealed zips are simple straight zips; again, likely to last a while. Great question.
As someone who had a layover in Las Vegas a week ago, can confirm

For $400.00 they need to add room in the zipper for the laptop area. I’m a backpack collector and was ready to buy this until I saw the tightness in the zipper. Quality is in the details. The updated version should also give the option to close the roll top as it currently is and or clipping both ends together. It’s an easy fix that will accommodate all.
