I have the ac10c1 and as Andy so nicely demonstrates, this is a kick ass amplifier! From chimey to crunchy and everything in between, the ac10 is my favorite amp . Much louder than people think it'll be...
Just spent about 6 hours on one of these. Unbelievable! Not as bright nor as harsh as I was expecting. Actually, it can be very rounded, smooth, and crunchy. My Tele and strat have never sounded better. And I've owned boutique gear to compare it to.
Got this amp for Christmas and man, I've been tone hunting like crazy. I love this amp. The only pedal I occasionally run through it is my Soul Good with a Dexter mod. Sounds incredible. That digital reverb is amazing too! Recording it has been a breeze too. Also... It's LOUD!

I just traded an Epi for a mint red Vox AC10. After looking at a bunch of "demo" videos, nothing compares to Andy to simply break down the amp and show you what it can do. Just made a spreadsheet and went back thru and marked up the six different settings he included. If you're trying to get your head around a new amp, that sure help a lot more that some gunslinger with a $4,000 custom guitar showing you how cool they can play and never showing anything other than the front of the amp. I still want to be Andy when I grow up.
You’ve been wearing blue & brown, and workin for the clampdown. Love my AC-10. It’s Perfect amp for my small apartment … headphones just don’t get-it sometimes.
I played one of these and a new Tweed Blues Jr at a CT GC. The BJ did better tones at low volumes but it couldn't touch the Vox for the classic rock sound (which should be expected). Both had fresh speakers and I wasn't being a GC jerk so who knows at louder volumes and once the speakers break in. Vox is a little lighter too. BJ may be more flexible but that Vox just has something special going on and is $150 cheaper. Also there is a huge amount of mods for the BJ cause it could use them whereas I feel like people will leave the Vox stock. Full disclosure: I am no expect, I play lousy, and I only had an hour but they were right across from each other on opposing shelves.
MrBingping Humbolt was good too but Ive been told hemp takes even longer to break in even though it starts out darker to begin with. Had one briefly and my friend's strat sounded unreal through it doing Fender cleans.
+NYC LP Player Well said. Really apples and oranges to compare the BJr and the AC10. I prefer the BJr for the relative girth of the tone, esp at high gain. For me the AC10 sounds fizzy but then all ACs with their top-boost circuit come across that way to me. So basically if you're a Vox person, you will probably love this amp. If you're not, it's unlikely to convert you.
Just traded an AC30 head for an AC10C1. Was wondering if I made the right choice, as I actually prefer the normal channel over top boost. But I just plugged in my Gibson Les Paul Special and played some country riffs, and I’m in heaven. I can get grit without blowing my house down around me. Also, I suppose it’s illegal to do a video on any Vox AC amp and not say “chime.” Well done.
Awesome demo (as always from Andy). Truth be told, though, I played one of these at GC and wanted it before I saw this demo! My only concern about it is the amount of clean headroom for use with pedals, but I've heard this is not a problem. (In my experience, it got loud fairly quickly and stayed pretty clean, especially with single coils). I don't have a ton of experience with AC15's, but I read one review where they felt the AC10 might be a little "warmer", even though that seems completely counter-intuitive. Anyway, it sounded great - it's a single channel amp that works at basement volumes and covers a huge range of tones. I do wish it had an effects loop, but that's a gripe you could have with many similarly-priced amps.
What a great little amp! The playing and song selection is exceptional as usual. I'm now convinced to get this for my 8yr old son who just started taking lessons and aspires to become Brian May. Lol. Thanks again for a fantastic review!
Andy has a new guitar, wow it's a stunner! I like that Vox are using proper switches and input jacks for these now. I had to do a lot of mods on my AC15cc1, including replacing the speaker with a blue, and replacing the reverb tank but luckily I got it cheap. I also had to add a choke as well. I presume this doesn't have one? My VOX is a flawless amp now. I like the idea of this one, and it seems vox picks up on what modders are doing so I bet this is a great amp. VOX seem to be working well with the chinese. The pcbs are very well laid out. This sounds great.
You pretty much sold me on the amp when you busted out that classic Clash tune for your demo. Kudos for you not playing something the typical 19 year old guitar wizard would understand. That being said I am very impressed by the sound of this tweener Vox amp. Suppose I need a tremolo pedal and extension speaker but video has me trying to figure out what I need to sell..
Love the demo - however I have this amp and at full volume, gain at 3 o'clock like the first clip, I'd have the neighbors around within seconds, and probably the windows blown out. The issue I have is that it is a bit muddy unless you crank it... I can't help but wonder if a Fender with pedals would be more practical for practice use.
I was going to get a 100 watt Boss Katana for my first real amp (I play through Logic Pro and studio monitors) but I think I'm going to get this instead. I don't really need to have an amp that gets super loud so I think gets a tube amp with less power would be the smart choice. I also have some pedals that would most likely sound better when played into a tube amp.
