This season was such a mess i feel like the witters had so many ideas that they just decided to put it all in one season lmao everything felt kinda rushed and disconnected

Elena did't know that Bonnie will stop being the anchor and will die. Nobody did. There was nothing selfish of Elena to get in the car. In fact she decided to be with Damon and risk her life.

I agree, season 5 was enjoyable but definitely the worst of the first 5 seasons. I still loved it but the others were better. I wish Silas was around longer, he was so dope.

I haven’t even watched the whole recap yet but I agree this season is a mess like you said in your finale video. I was very surprised when you said a lot of people were telling you it’s their favorite But it might be because it ends so strong with this finale. I enjoy the character interactions through this season but the plot is completely all over the place and isn’t why they ran through so many storylines half naked and a bunch of useless new characters for the most part. Season 7 has a similar issue unfortunately. Season 6 is much better though! Tied for the best season in my opinion
I have a very complicated relationship with season 5, too. First of all, when I'm asked which one my least fave season is, s5 always comes up in my mind first. On the other hand, when I first watched the season I didn't understand most of it and got to appreciate or notice a couple of things happening just years later, after I rewatched it/watched reactions to it. I still don't like the whole traveller thing though. I really enjoy the first about 11 episodes to a certain point quite a lot now. I can't really stand episode 12-14, ep. 15-19 are meh-ok but not good (from my perspective), I like ep. 21 and I looove episode 20 & 22. But even in the episodes I don't like much are moments that I love to rewatch, which are basically all the Stefan and Caroline scenes. That's when I really started shipping Steroline. Ps: Bonnie's memorial is episode 4 not 3, but you recorded this three times so I'll give you that one 😉
I feel like this whole season was a set up season for TVD 2.0 like season one but for a new phase of the show. Idk why they chose to do that after everyone had already graduated and moved into the next phase of their lives already but hey can't complain too much except for the finale. It delivered as always but screw those writers lol
Finally the fifth season is over, Jer! It was a mess. Travelers is the worst plot in the series. According to Markos, traveler magic removes spirit magic. But how is that possible? What is the difference between the two? How did these clans of wizards come about? We didn't get any explanations right about anything, we didn't have any flashbacks, which was very different from other seasons. If I could summarize this season it would be: many stories, little depth. The last episode was good, but I couldn't take any more of the characters dying and coming back, it got tiring; nobody REALLY dies in this show and it is annoying! But the sixth season is coming! And in my opinion it is the most emotional and sad season of all, the characters face many challenges and mature a lot ❤️❤️❤️
I soooooo agree that the travelers were awful but I think the villains in season 7 and season 8 were 100x worse. I don’t want to spoil the actual villains for Jer if he reads this but they are trash. Season 6 is the last good season of this show unfortunately.

I still don't get the hatred for Matt in the first 5 seasons, being useless doesn't mean a character should die.
