DIY LED Tail Light Conversion Alfa Romeo GT

- In this video you can see my DIY tail light project on Alfa Romeo GT. Just to give you heads up, the conversion is more complicated, and time/effort consuming than it seems in the video. Do not attempt to do this yourself unless you have decent knowledge when it comes to car electrics, and more importantly a lot of patience.
Acquisition of all the necessary parts was challenge in itself. All of the parts I ordered took 2 month to arrive due to the current situation.

I like things staying stock, but those tailights look great.
It is personal preference, but their shape is great, and these LEDs compliment them...

I would love to build something like that for my GT, because the Gt has an timeless design.
Only thing i really think you could see the age of this car are its lights, so it was always a downside in astetics for me when i looked at my car.
But here in Germany its impossible to get TÜV approval for this kind of modifications....
So you just can´t use them here like that, otherwise if the Police sees this, you had to pay a fine up to 500€ for not using original ones.
So jeah its all great in Germany until you want to change things on your car, than its a mess.
Nice video, but at least use the proper glue for the lamp. This heat glue will never withstand the winter temperature, Or the water, snow, salt.

This looks like something that fits my own taste of making mods for a car although the led turn signals should have been kept flashing as older ones did.
They do flash? Sequential but still
Can anyone recommend a new dimmer board link that would provide the same functionality?
Looks great! Can you put up a part list with links? Also does hot glue really work that well? I never thought of it being great for anything besides crafts.
Thanks, don't have the links, bought the supplies from the guy in Italy, but if I find the links I will post them. When it comes to hot glue, this is a bit higher quality, with a higher melting point. The sticks are as hard as plastic, and they worked really well...

Android device? how you connect to turn it off, with the wiring of the original radio?... my Android, it doesn't turn off, in the end I'll have to connect it to the lighter cable, how do you connect? My unit only works if I connect, the orange cable along with red at 12 volt constant (red car wiring): "ill" together too, but then, it does not turn off and start from the last app by touching the stereo switch (not boot logo...). I can't find any pin cable that cuts the power when removing the key...It drops down the battery. Ramon, eres Español?

A bit of moding, I put the originals back on after some time
Nice job! It does look very good but I would just replace the halogen bulbs with LED, because of the police. Another issue is the legislation in everyone's country.

What are the LED straps called, I'm struggling to find some, also the ebay link to the dimmer dosnt work, I want to make something for my triumph 2500s
I bought them locally in Italy, it was very hard to gather all the necessary parts, will try to find link for dimmer
Brilliant job, but I take exception to your caveat that one needs a lot of knowledge about auto electrics to do this job. I'm doing something similar to you for a 1965 Marlin and, when I started, I knew nothing. I'm slowiy getting there.

Where can I buy the parts, what do I need?
I did that with my headlights, personally didnt want to brake the plastic so what I did was heat the seal and start peeling slowly and carefully without braking it, once done with the job I just put new seal plastic and job done.
They can be hard to do, mine are sadly glued by silicone by previous owner...

Maybe a company should be born that is capable to modernize this old fashioned lights. So would be easy for us to modernize our cars.
Does Europe not allow led compatible flasher relays?
Here (US) all we do for non-led lit cars is replace the OEM relay with an led one. Automatically slows the timing and no huge, hot resistors to worry about.
They do, but they flash lights are not the only issue, other bulbs are reported on board computer, thus numerous resistors...

In spain This optical is not legal using
HELP, I can't connect the resistors in order to eliminate the error. With the arrows I have succeeded, with the position and stop lights it always signals failure. How are the resistances connected?
6.8Ohm on brake light, 1.8Ohm on position, If I remember right...
Super izgleda,da je dodat jos bijelo svijetlo za rikverc ( mislim da ovi iz future tuninga su i to dodali ) bi bilo jos bolje jer original rikverc ne svijetli kurca.

The LEDs are red and yellow, I used dimmer for different intensity...
