My mother was a Hula girl and rode the elephants, my father helped put the equipment up and was a stick man in the audience. They moved to Nashville and some of the performers came to visit when they were playing at Fair Park in Nashville, It was about a 1/2 mile walk from the show to the house. I was just a kid and loved the funny midget guy with weird hands who roller scatted at the circus. Myself and my siblings just loved the performers that came by to visit. This was in the late 50s and early 60's. Jack and Ruby Cooper. They lost all their pictures and moms hula skirt in hurricane Camille after we moved to Louisiana.
My parents were with this circus about 1949-1951, some time before I was born in 1952. My dad helped put up the tents. Mom was a hula girl in the side show. 9:42 Anyone know how to get information on that era? We lost all their old photos in a Hurricane.
Congrats to Johnny Pugh! I traveled with them in 1978. Lots of respect to ya
