It happens many times. Unfortunately, prisons are not places of rehabilitation and the inmates time is spent thinking of ways to better their crimes. She was lucky her charges were dismissed but instead of taking advantage of that and taking her life in a different direction, she came back to the same old same old. There are not enough good transitional programs for ex inmates so they feel trapped, lost and outcast from society. It’s a bad situation. In The better choice part, she realizes she had something good to fall back on. That gave her the edge she needed to make things better for herself. When people who used to sell or abuse drugs stop living that life, they must also cease all contact/association with former drug buddies & fellow dealers. I speak from a place of recovery from past substance abuse. Just sharing my thoughts & opinion. The program of NA teaches us to change not only our actions, but also our entire lifestyle. If you want to achieve or maintain sobriety, you must start with losing your former friends, who are still in active addiction.♥️
