I used to live in Bennettsville,, my Daughter and granddaughter still do. I used to live on Tatorhouse Rd. And Livingston. United Methodist was my church too when Reverend McDaniels was there. I do miss it at times

I left in 1985 and lived on Market Street across from Hidden Valley Apartments down the hill from the First United Methodist Church .

I'll always remember the sign coming into Bennettsville , First Great Town . Going to Hardee's in the morning for a chicken fried steak biscuit before going to school . The Green Gremlins football games in high school . Yes it was fun back in the day . I see more people from up North are moving to town and fixing up some of the old homes which is good . Hopefully it will get back to it's former self .

Bennettsville is where Oak river plant is ( Mohawk Ind.) I worked at the Rocky River plant in Calhoun Falls, SC. For 26 years. When we shut down in 2012 they moved all of our machines and equipment to Bennettsville and a few people relocated there and kept working, I went down for a few weeks but couldn't stay away from home.

I was just looking for a pronunciation. What a cool little southern town!

Thanks for watching and you should checkout my video of Stanton's BBQ that I did . It is in this same town in the country and it has it's own private runway where helicopters and vintage and small aircraft fly in to eat there . It is also a fish camp , so lots of seafood dishes too .

I love Art Fennell's channel under Art Fennell and he features some of the daily life and country activities in Bennettsville. I'm a West coast guy but the slow pace of life and history of places like Bennettsville and I imagine it would have been a great place to grow up

I have been watching his channel for some time now . It really brings back home to me . I live in Las Vegas now , but I go home to visit about every 5 years . Nothing like the food and people of the Carolinas .

Good to see the place again. Still the same after 50 years. They can use some TLC.

Lots of memories . I get there about every 5 years . When I was there a friend of mine and I went by my old house and took some pictures . A lady comes home with her groceries and she was one of my Mothers old friends so she let me come in and take pictures inside . I hadn't been in the house since 1986 . I just got a notice from a friend about 3 weeks ago that the house had been sold . It was in so bad condition when I went inside it was heartbreaking . My Mom took such good care of that house and was like an interior decorator . Hopefully whoever bought it will fix it up again .

You didn’t mention Breeden’s Grocery when you drove down Broad St and you didn’t drive by the lake!!! You could have at least showed the route we drove on the weekends from Kress parking lot to Hardee’s to McDonald’s!!!!

I actually have another video on my channel from 2004 and I drive by the lake and the old Primary School and other places . It is a much longer video with my son . I partied many nights at Kress and I worked at McDonald's in high school 1984 to 1985 . I have other footage of driving around Bennettsville that I still haven't uploaded to You Tube from this same trip in 2019 . I drive around Firestone and Salem Road where my grandmother lived and Fowler's Trailer Park where we lived when I was a kid before I started 1st Grade . I just loaded a video today about Blenheim Ginger Ale with lots of old photos and I have another video about Stanton's Bbq with lots of pictures of the food , vintage planes , and helicopters . So lots of good videos about Bennettsville growing up there . Thanks for watching and checkout my other videos . I would love for you to Subscribe to my Channel if you could support and Ole Country Boy .

Hi! How is the area ? I found some properties there and was interested. Thanks

Sorry it took me so long to reply . I am usually good about it , but must have missed yours . This was a great town to grow up in during the 70's and 80's . Unfortunately when all the factories left the area to go overseas the town started going downhill . Houses are cheap if you are retired and not looking to do much . Larger towns not too far away to do things , but not the same as when I was a kid . Crime is more there , but that is true everywhere . I live in Las Vegas and we have way more crime , but of course way more population . Some beautiful old Colonial homes can be gotten here in good shape and some needing repair , but so historical and the prices will make people eyes fall out . $100,000 house there is like $350,000 here in Las Vegas .
