    Hi ser.. i want to know what is the difference then of using single throw and double throw..i mean what is their specific function and uses. And which is more efficient to chose between the two. Many Thanks

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A SPST (single pole single throw), is just a single switch with two contact points that is on or off. A SPDT (single pole double throw), is single switch but with three contact points. One point will be normally open (n.o.), while the other will be normally closed (n.c.), and when you switch this relay, those two points will switch from n.c. to n.o, and n.o. to n.c. One is not more efficient than another. It just depends on what type of switching you need in your circuit.

    now i'm having troubles trying to find a "5v dpdt relay" i was wondering if connect 2 spdt relays "in parallel", could work as a dpdt relay? i'll really apreciate your answer

    • @dial2fast

      Yes a 12v relay needs a 12v power source to energize. Try eBay for those relays. But you can use 2 SPST if you want, just more wiring.

      @CamieGwen ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Relay is a switch that uses electricity to work, it can handle huge amps which is you need when you install extra lights.. while flip switch/push button switch etc can only handle small current.. so if you direct your huge current load into a switch without relay, most likely the switch will be busted.. sooner or later.

    87 is Normally closed
    if you dont believe me then see the diagram on the relay. CONTACT Pin would be on the 87A and nothing would be shown for 87
    i am talking about the Bosch style relay (5 pin)
    Rest of what you said are absolutely correct.

    • @dial2fast
      @dial2fast  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +John Fernandes The NORMAL state is referring to when the relay is NOT engergized, and in this state, put a multimeter on PIN 30 and PIN 87A, and you will see it's closed = normally closed

    Hi, can you help me with a question for an essay I have to write at my college. The question/scenario is:
    You need to create a remote on/off switch for the amplifiers on stage while doing an installation of a sound system at the local club. The amplifiers must be switched on and off from the mixer position, without running thick power cables next to the audio cables between the stage and Front Of House. Explain the specifications for the relay switch to be used, the connections to this relay switch and the PSU to control the relay. Remember that we do not want to add any additional EMI noise to the sound.
