    Audiobooks at normal speed sound soooo slooooow to me now! Like it sounds exaggeratedly slow. My default is 2x but for classics or non-fic I sometimes go down to 1.85x and for some books I can get as close to 3x as I dare lol. Also just a note from a Spanish speaker: it's pronounced or-KEE-dee-a dee-VEE-na. No n~ on Divina, so it's not Divinya. But you do a pretty lovely job with the Spanish so kudos!

    I love to listen audiobooks in normal speed. First because english isn't my first language, second because I adore to have story narrated to me. Third because my brain is really slow to grasp what is being told to me.

    • @losermillie
      @losermillie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brains are soooo weird because if something is too slow for me, my brain is incapable of grasping it. I don’t have them like 3x like some people do but 1.5-1.75 for most books.
      But if I was listening in a second language, I’d probably be at 0.5 speed 😂

    I like kids books at 1x speed, adult at about 1.5x, and teen books at 2x. Usually I vary through the book depending on what I'm doing. If I'm not doing anything else that involves thinking then I need it at 1.5x or faster or I'll get distracted by my own thoughts, but I usually can't play a game at the same time if it's over 1.5x.

    Listening speed would kind of depend on the speed that the narrator is speaking, and the genre, and the length of the audiobook at normal speed. If it's complicated/plot heavy I'd listen at normal speed. But I was listening to Outlander last month, and at normal speed the book was 33 hours long. So I was listening at 1.5x speed. I can't imagine listening to a book at more than 2x speed 😲

    • @Amanda-wd4mp
      @Amanda-wd4mp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. It depends on the narrator. Some audiobooks I can listen to 3x speed due to to narrator's speed, others its 2x or 1.5x because if how complex the story is.

      I like the idea of talking books, unfortunately, they have a tendency to put me to sleep. I also like the feel of a book and the author talking to me through their words and ideas rather than someone chuntering away. Old fashioned I suppose!

  • @annakhjelm146

    My listening speed depends alot on how fast/slow the narrator is speaking and on how easy the book is to read, or if it is a really complex high fantasy world packed with impoetant details 😊
    My default speed for audio is 1.5 speed, slower and begin to loose interest, get bored.
    X1.5 - x2 is what I use most of the time, especially when listening to some of the huge high fantasy audiobooks. Any faster and I don't think that I am able to get all of the important details. If it's a really easy read and a long book, I might go up to x2.5 for a while, but above x2 it takes alot more consantration and that is not always what I want.
    There have been a few books that I listened to on x3 speed, but I can't do anything that needs more the minimum attention while listening at that speed 😂 higher the that and my ears only hear Donald Duck on fastforward 😂🤣

    I listen to audiobooks usually somewhere between 1.2 and 1.75, depending on the book content and the narrator. If the narrator has an accent, I usually have to slow it down to 1.25 or so. I try 1.5 or 1.6 and that ususally works well. Absolutely can't go faster than 1.75 - my brain can't keep up.

    I usually start with a regular listening speed, then up it to 1.5x and 1.75. 2.0x happens rarely and usually when I'm not enjoying it a whole lot and later in the book.
