I think lance is correct. Historically during the “pause” stocks move up. In 2007 it took a year. When the fed pause was over is when stocks fell. I think it could be more like a 6 month pause because we moved rates up 2x as fast. Hiked 2 years to 5.25 vs 1 year to 5.25.

Adam I can answer why you are growing by leaps and bounds over these other media financial brands. At least from my perspective it's called TRUST! I am a 70 year old woman that did not know much about the financial world and yet, because of your channel, I now talk to so many people about what your channel has opened up for me in understanding what really makes the world go round. Having so much more in depth understanding of this new world for me has inspired me to hire a financial adviser with the philosophy of your brilliant hosts. Sadly I severed my account with Vanguard of many years since I no longer felt they were taking care of my managed portfolio after repeated conversations to keep my assets in more conservative holdings. You have no idea how many times I have had to go into Google to learn financial terms and their meanings so I could know what the hell you all were talking about. Thank you Adam and I am living proof that it is never too late to plunge into this exciting new school.

I will be retiring soon, and I will be looking into working with a financial advisor because of this channel. I had to revamp my entire portfolio with the help of an advisor, before I started seeing significant results in my portfolio. With the help of this advisor, I have scaled up 750k since last year.

I do have a humble opinion to offer about the reason for the confusing nature of these markets. I believe that it is due to excess liquidity. Very little of the money that has been created has been sopped up. M2 is down 2.5%, yes, but that's after growing 40.6%. Fed balance sheet down by 5.5% after growing 115%.. Still too many dollars chasing a finite number of financial assets.

Keep an eye on the dollar index and watch the next inflation print for guidance. Technicals are going to be worthless if we get a whipsaw move in inflation metrics which I think is likely given the tight labor market and the overall volatility in those series.

Yes, the data doesn't add up. I'm in the trucking business and I've never seen it this bad. Mileage rates fell through the floor, small trucking companies going out of business, and independent operators such as myself now sit an average 3 days per week while working only 2 during a 5 day workweek because I won't, and can't run until I get the rate needed for me to make even a small profit. I'm also in the container business and the ports are absolutely dead. Nothing even close to what it was last year.
At the same time we see jobs numbers like we did. That doesn't reflect anything I see around me including all of my colleges in the business. It just doesn't make sense.

As much as there is a "reversion to the mean" in stock prices, I have to wonder why there isn't a reversion to the mean in the stock market, unless the mean for the market is the short term risk free rate of return.
Right now the short term treasury rate at 4.75 is roughly the forward P/E if the S&P. If the market shoots up any more, its P/E would be less than the treasury rate. How is that supposed to work?
