      While I still haven't gotten around to doing another flyby/rev video you should checkout a video from ThicWhips -> --th-cam.com/video/kHT5xm9C5dU-/w-d-xo.html- -- The F30 330i in that video has the same engine (B48) and he has the exact same exhaust (340/440i M Performance Exhaust). From what I know the 440i MPE version eliminates the valve and when ordered through the dealership it also came with the dummy end plug for the oem valve controller. The 435i MPE version has the valve I believe, but you might want to research to find out for sure.

    hey man im looking into getting a 2017 430i coupe and definitely want to do a dual exhuast conversion. may i ask what year is your car? and also, did all you need was the M Rear Bumper + Diffuser and the Exhuast for everything to fit without having to weld extra pipes?

    I know the 428i and 430i are very similar. Can I do this to my 428i? I love the fact that it would just be the exhaust I don't need tunes or anything I don't want to damage my car in the long run. Where did you buy it?

    • @F32Koto
      @F32Koto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I not sure if the 440i MPE will work on the 428i, but I know there are videos of the 435i MPE on the 428i (th-cam.com/video/Wbg10drLUFY/w-d-xo.html). Tentatively I don't see why 440i MPE wouldn't work, but it would be better to ask a local BMW shop about it to be sure. I bought the exhaust directly through my local BMW dealership in Fremont, CA...however, most dealerships will NOT let you do this, I just so happened to get lucky and worked with some advisors who were also into modding their own cars and helped me get this approved through the dealership. Generally it is better to work with a local independent BMW specialist shop (preferably one that does aftermarket and/or motorsport stuff), those will be the places that will be more likely to help you get this kind of work done.

      I had this done at my local dealership so I wasn't involved with the installation process. You are correct though, the 430i is a single exit dual tip exhaust from stock, so naturally converting it to the dual exhaust, unless the 440i MPE happens to come with an extra hanger, you'll probably need to get an additional one.

    • @F32Koto

    • @F32Koto
      @F32Koto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question that I also had. I would assume there are some differences because the single exit was designed specifically for the 2.0 (N20 motor) but since this is the 440i MPE this is obviously designed for the 3.0 (B58 motor). Unfortunately I haven't had a 2.0 (B48 or N20) BMW with the single exit MPE to compare in person against my setup so I'm not sure if or what the differences would be sound-wise

    How much was the mpe exhaust?

    • @F32Koto
      @F32Koto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wanna say the exhaust itself was about $1200 and $600 labor + tax around $1900/2000 all set and done. It's OEM+ and keeps the warranty so long as it's done by a dealership or bmw certified independent shop. There are other louder and more "fancy" aftermarket alternatives for the same price or a little more, but most have a resonator delete and will require a catless dp to accommodate the naturally more aggressive burbles from the resonator delete which will both void the warranty and make the car not smog legal in CA.

    Is there any cutting/welding involved or is this process reversible if I eventually want to sell it stock? Also appreciate the responses in the comments I've been looking to do this for a while on my '19 430i

    • @F32Koto
      @F32Koto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the actual installation process, you might consult some forums as I didn't install it myself, but I believe in my specific case (based on what I can see) they did cut the OEM exhaust, aligned the new one, and used an exhaust clamp for the connection point. As for reversibility, I'm fairly sure most muffler shops can find a way to refit the OEM one if you wanted to put it back.

      Just to clarify, the bumper and diffuser are 2 separate pieces. The bumper part is the piece that is the same color as the car, the diffuser is the grey part on the bottom (or black part in my video). If you already have the m sport bumper, all you need to do is replace the oem (single exit) diffuser with the dual exhaust diffuser (part# - 51-19-2-339-218)

      @@BrandonFrisco That's just your opinion though right? I know the 440i is a faster and more "build-able" car, but when I bought this car I was shopping for CPOs as a daily and this was by far the best available option. It was a 2017 model with only 23K miles, was in mint condition, had the M-Sport appearance package + 19" 442M wheels (which I wanted), Track Handling suspension + M-Brake Kit (in blue), Red Dakota leather interior, and was a CPO. The only 440i/435i options were not CPO and/or F36 (4Dr) variants with 18" wheels (or wheels I didn't want), none of them had the track handling suspension, none of them had the red interior, and most of them were metallic/black and many of them had paint neglect due to lack of owner care (probably lease owners sending them into carwashes). I wasn't about to spend $10K more on a 440i/435i just to have to spend another $5-10K to make it look the way I wanted as used daily driver.
      Besides I didn't buy this car to go fast man, it's my daily for work. It's plenty quick for the canyons with it's low end torque curve and has 50:50 weight distribution and about 200lbs lighter. I bought the 440i MPE exhaust over the 428i MPE because I prefer a symmetrical dual exhaust setup rather than the stock single exit dual tip exhaust. I left the 430i badge to be clear that I am not pretending to be something I'm not.

      I bought a 430i for a few reasons. I wanted a manual and it came in 430i only, the 440i was around 40% more expensive, and for the bigger engine it's only goes 0-60 less than one second quicker (5.1 vs 5.9) so barely seems worth extra weight. I absolutely love my car, for me it's a dream to own something like this.
