I’m ngl, when I watched this and the cop had an attitude towards Annabeth, my mind went to the possibility of it being racism, mostly because Percy was giving attitude the whole time and the cop said nothing, but when Annabeth asked a legit question, the cop got all heated. I don’t wanna immediately make it a race thing, but idk😭

that's a fair interpretation! i think rick mentioned somewhere that they're going to tackle what it means to be black and deal with things like that, instead of just having a character who is simply black. i loved how annabeth was wearing a head wrap over her braids too!

@@cat-tc2kk and that’s great if they do, but if they don’t, I won’t be mad. I’ve never read the books but if they want to incorporate Annabeth’s race into the story, I’m fine with it, as long as it doesn’t take away from her character or the story or becomes her defining trait. It was just weird to me cuz the cop seemed to act very differently towards Percy

Oooh, I got a what you missed. In the book, Percy notes that the Nereid looks and sounds like his mother. So this Nereid (assuming they don’t change things) is meant to remind him of his mom. So it’s the perfect memory callback for him here.

  • @eileenhinman1148

This was different in the book - they were just visiting the arch and the Chimera shows up. also Percy leaps from the arch into the river which should NOT be a possible jump so fan theories were always (a) Rick didn’t realize the river didn’t go under the arch or thought it was closer (b) a water spout helped Percy into the river, similar to this.
I really liked how they did it for the show. Immediately going from Medusa’s “warning” about Athena and Medusa saying they’re the same (got punished for Poseidon’s actions) to Annabeth getting burned for Percy’s actions, the comparison between how their parents treat each of their supposed favorites, etc.
As everyone else mentioned - this episode felt way too short but only because I was enjoying it so much.

i honestly didn't really like the medusa scene changes in the last episode (i wish they had kept the suspense bit and her evilness a little more). But i absolutely love the changes this episode! the fact that the visit to the arch wasnt just a "ik we're on a quest but hey lets go sightseeing" instead annabeth was smart in seeking safety there and they were still able to portray her fascination with architecture. and the change from percy accidently falling instead of impulsively jumping cause rick had misjudged the position of the river in the book. also really!!! appreciate that they added in consequences for the trio (mainly annabeth) for sending medusa's head which wasn't there in the books. and like you said the parallels between medusa-poseidon and annabeth-percy, made me appreciate the conversation they had last episode with medusa more.

Yeah, that's always one thing that fans point out: Poseidon apparently chose a sea nymph close in appearance to Sally or something like that, maybe because he thought that Percy would respond better to someone who reminds him of his mother. Poseidon is actually typically a great father to Percy when he's around. Poseidon is an accessory to Percy and Sally murdering Gabe, he attends Percy's 15th birthday party, he's currently helping Percy try to get into college. Poseidon even called the school for Percy in The Chalice of the Gods to give him an excuse for being late to school.

Some little information and not spoiler.
the thing about Athena's birth story, that was one of the story on how Zeus had migrain! It's fun how people like to joke about it lmao.
But in pjo series or another greek stories, Athena actually have a mother. So before Zeus marry Hera (who literally his own big sister) he actually marry someone else (forgot her name/what kind of diety she is) the goddes is pregnant, but Zeus given a prophecy that the baby who will born will be powerful, smarter and stronger than zeus and if it born as a male, he will overthrow his throne, that he will kill his father just how Zeus kill kronos. Zeus become paranoid, and he decided to swallow his wife (you heard me right) just like what Kronos did to his children. The goddes vanished but Athena actually born inside Zeus. And she spends her sweet time growing up inside her papa until one day she decided to come out, she try to get her way out by banging inside of Zeus's head. He had migrain, and asked Hephaestus to open up his skull. And that's how Athena born!
And in this series, Athena begin to adopt this kind of aproach to have children demigods. She is one of some 'virgin' goddes, so she won't marry or having intercouse with anyone. But it's funny how she keeps 'falling in love' with humans and have their kids. I believe she decide to have children demigods so that they could held her legacy. In this PJO series, Demigod children is pretty much the pawn of their Godly parents. They may be born from love, but at this point demigods pretty much is a tool for the Gods. Athena is clever, she pick a hole on her oath to still remain 'virgin' but could having children with the way she was born.
Theres many debate in the fandom, the children born out of her thought, how tf they had the dad's dna? Did she steal a chunk of their flesh? Or steal other thing such as s*erm? (I'm adult, i promise)
this is just my opinion, i think when Athena admired or fall in love with human, they actually date like other Gods/Goddes. I'll be frankly say this. They might not have intercouse phisically but did it in the father's dream. That's why when Athena gave the 'gift' to the human, they just accept them as their own children. I feel like if the dad never had intercouse (in the dream), they would not want to take care this random baby from Athena out of nowhere. That's the only explanation i could think of bcs how weird it seems for Athena just randomly knocking some single man house and gave them kids lmao

That said, a kid being a demigod never stopped any parental neglect

    • @WarGrowlmon18
      @WarGrowlmon18 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Oh yeah, breathing under water??? That's just a minor aspect of his powers, Percy just didn't know that he could do that before. He's the son of the Sea God, breathing underwater is just a natural part of that. In a couple of the other books, Percy manages to extend an air bubble of sorts to Annabeth so that she can go underwater with him without any troubles. Their first real kiss is underwater using that trick. Another minor ability is talking to horses and horse related species because Poseidon created them. That includes Zebras and Pegasi, flying horses. Those are the descendants of the original Pegasus, the son of Poseidon and Medusa. Percy can also talk to fish and other sea creatures.
But he has MAJOR water related powers. He can control any source of water from rivers to the ocean. Percy's even been shown to be able to control the Underworld rivers in the later books. Percy has created pretty powerful storms a few times too. Poseidon's also the Stormbringer, that's why. In book 4, Percy accidentally causes Mount Saint Helens to erupt.

Small correction on the 12 Olympian gods…6 of them are actually brothers and sisters as they’re kids of Chronos. Those 6 are Demeter, Hestia, Hera, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. 5 of the 6 were eaten by Chronos until Zeus over threw him. The other 6 Olympians are offsprings of some of the original 6 and then there are all the minor gods which will become a bigger role in later books
