Hey Marius: smart video.... I like your logic in this video. Oh, the best part I'm getting from this video is.... Marius is a skilled young woodworker on a real budget and a student. Resawing using a band saw you have made "not bought"...... That says a great deal about your skill and understanding of the bandsaw and way you built it. Of course you started with good plans from Mathias's design and you know everything about your saw from scratch. Some of us may have missed that you are an excellent role for all of us, doing more with less and being self reliant. Even us old coots. Cheers Marius..... Lead On! Jerry Everett Ontario Canada
Fraser Hunter he does stuff on Instagram every once in a while, but I’m guessing his university studies are keeping him away from his shop. I’m still waiting to see the project video for some of the things he’s posted on Instagram.
When cutting on the bandsaw, it’s important to remember to also hold you tongue out and close one eye, this will dramatically improve straightness. True story a science guy told me...
Finally, another video. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say you've been missed. I've watched all of your videos multiple times. Let's get with it Marius! Make more videos! I'm kidding as I'm sure you're busy but just wanted to let you know that people do anticipate your work.
Hello Marius, I allow you to write a note of congratulations. Your channel is excellent, this is due to your quality work, your videos of quality, your dynamism and your humor ... I am always delighted with your achievements and the tools that you develop as much to improve your workstation that to carry out your professional projects. Good luck to you ;-)
I once heard that removing the bark is a good habit, as the dirt and dust in it can dull up your blades really fast.. really nice results apart from that!!
My first view of your channel, liked and subscribed. Thanks from Chicago. By the way, I would HIGHLY recommend stabilizing any round object, especially logs, with your initial cut on a bandsaw. I had one shift slightly during a cut, bound the blade and twisted it like a pretzel until it snapped. Thankfully my hand was not near the carnage.
I know you mentioned the friction held the logs well. But had you thought of rebating a couple strips of the anti skid tape like what's used on the bottom of the track saws rails. Good to see you back.
You could install an idler gear/wheel for tensioning the belt, it might be easier and you could have it sprung against it so it maintains tension longer as the belt stretches.
Nice, very interesting. Does the bandsaw motor need putting on some kind of adjustment plate? Belts do stretch slightly over time. Alternatively could you fit a tensioning pulley on a spring? It’s looking like you might need another of those height adjustable tables before too long to use as an outfeed support. Did you get much resin build up on the blade as you cut?
You should see the look n my face, when I am concentrating very very hard on making firewood out of lumber! Seriously though that is some very nice live edge material you end up with cheers!
I’ve made a blower with a 30cm impeller. It’s perfectly balanced perfectly as far as I can tell but I’m getting a lot of vibrations and I don’t know why. What could be causing this?
In India we can not saw lumber in a woodworking workshop. You need a licence to saw first as a. Saw mill else one may land in a jail. One may have a band saw up to 18" size and a cutting capacity of 9 or 10 inches. Still those who have even smaller ones, can be harrassed by authorities. We still live with archaic laws. The idea a 150 years ago was to stop illegal sawing of lumber and saving of forests. And I also to ensure all good wood like teak for export to Britain. They have left but most of the laws made. By them still exist.
I suspect the intense stare associated with precise manual work has something to do with intuitive tooth/tongue preservation such that you are safe if your slip or something goes wrong otherwise.
Marius, I can't remember if you have ever answered this before, but thought I would ask. What primary language do you speak in your house? I know germans learn english in school but you speak it really well, and use it for your descriptions. Was just wondering, keep up the great vids.

You are alive!
Fraser Hunter 😂
That’s what I thought too
Fraser Hunter he does stuff on Instagram every once in a while, but I’m guessing his university studies are keeping him away from his shop. I’m still waiting to see the project video for some of the things he’s posted on Instagram.
Where have you been!!!!!!
Marius, Great to see you at it again. It's a great satisfaction to see a young man of your talent using it for
I know, old video, but your comment about the look on your face...priceless! Great video! :)
When cutting on the bandsaw, it’s important to remember to also hold you tongue out and close one eye, this will dramatically improve straightness. True story a science guy told me...
Great to see you making videos again!
You earn my thumb up immediately with your "smile" ! I love to resaw some some logs in lumber, great way to make small project.
Really good to see you back at it. I have missed your videos.
Nice to see you back Marius!

Yay! One of my favs is back!!
Love that sled...
(typo) a skill of this level. Your parents must be very proud.
Yes! Glad to see you back in action man

Good to see you again my friend !
Marius! Good to see you again! :)
No outtakes, you must be getting good at this video thing. Thanks for sharing your talents.
I once heard that removing the bark is a good habit, as the dirt and dust in it can dull up your blades really fast.. really nice results apart from that!!
good to see you Marius! Been awaiting new uploads!
The sled is a great idea, and it seems to work perfectly. Hope you're enjoying school, but if not, I hope you're at least learning lots of cool stuff!
LOVE the scissor table.
Glad your back!
Great to see you, I have missed your videos.

you are a smart guy to be able to engineer and make that saw yourself.
Welcome back to youtube. I missed your videos
Nice to see you back! I hope school is going well for you. :-)
Great video Marius
Moss and all! I'll be sure to hit the 'lichen' button
You could install an idler gear/wheel for tensioning the belt, it might be easier and you could have it sprung against it so it maintains tension longer as the belt stretches.
Might want to add some stickers closer to the ends for drying. Cool sled BTW.
Even the way you store the wood 4 drying is absolutely accurate, Monk. ;)
I'm fans of your work andalways waiting for your clips
No outtakes? Congrats! It's like the perfect game.
Good to see another video from you. Hope school is going well.
I think the death stare is an important part of your heritage, you shouldn't ever stop doing it
welcome back
Das ist die Konzentration im Gesicht 👍
Nice job on the band saw
Welcome back
It's not hate on your face, it's concentration........... You would look insane if you were smiling and cutting lol
At least his tongue doesn't stick out. Mine does when I'm concentrating. Apparently.
hahahaha
It's the maniacal laughter as he pushes the log through the blade that gives the game away.
TheOneWhoMightBe LOL
I alway stare intently and laugh maniacally at nearby people whilst using saws and grinders. Is this wrong?
Where did you go!!!
Thanks for the video. What are the slots in the sled for? I can't make out what you said about the need for those slots.
I can mount hold down clamps there
Marius Hornberger Thanks mate from Australia.
Wow, that's so cool, that you made a wooden bandsaw.
Heeey, we missed you!
Nice work!
Good luck and i wish you minimal warping in the drying years!
Thanks
Great to see you in the shop again Marius! How's your academics going?
Nice video. Usually I just press the wood against the fence - the sled is a good idea.
What material do you use for the bandsaw table? Nice to see a video again!
Phenolic resin plywood
Finally. Welcome back.

Did you get much resin build up on the blade as you cut?
You can never have enough lifting tables.
Yes, cleaning the blade afterwards is always a pain
You should see the look n my face, when I am concentrating very very hard on making firewood out of lumber!
Seriously though that is some very nice live edge material you end up with cheers!
Marius for US president!
Where have you been? We miss you.
When I cut boards out of logs I Joint it first so there is a flat side then rip through on the bandsaw.
Wow! Did you make that bandsaw?
Nicely done! 👍👊
“Everything went fine and nothing funny happened” - German efficiency! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Great job Marius :) I love my homemade Bandsaw. I've been milling a lot of logs lately too :) Take care.
I’ve made a blower with a 30cm impeller. It’s perfectly balanced perfectly as far as I can tell but I’m getting a lot of vibrations and I don’t know why. What could be causing this?
It's maybe wobbling on the motor shaft, or the impeller itself is not flat enough
What are we doing with the wood?
Wooot new video!
It's the look of concentration
It's the look of concentration, or.... constipation.
German diets are very hard to digest
He looks constipated but he's passing huge logs... hmmm #theconundrum
Also can buy from "Bazona"... What is Bazona?
well I hope your vacation was nice. was wondering what had happened to you(not in a weird way) looking forward to what you've got planned.
Walnut being used for firewood makes me cry
Why not using the sled to cut a small strip first and then put the entire log on the sled?
nice surprise to see a video come out
I don't see hate, I see concentration.
Should make some really nice lumber for future projects.
You da bomb young fella😊
Waiting six and a half minutes to finally seeing you cut small logos, but alas, I read it wrong... 😀😉

does it have a case
I really like your channel, and your outtakes its good you can laugh at yourself, how old are you
Thanks, I'm 23
Marius Hornberger danke
Hmm. Sounds like you need to rebuild that bandsaw. New video series?
need to *build a new* bandsaw
FTFY
Hammer Sache 😊😊
Nice work! did you endseal the logs?
not yet
Been busy Marius? You haven't been posting that much lately. How long were the logs drying before you cut them into lumber?
maybe 4 months, I can't remember
Plane a flat bottom on your round log to prevent it from rotating. It would make your first cut far more accurate.
I suspect the intense stare associated with precise manual work has something to do with intuitive tooth/tongue preservation such that you are safe if your slip or something goes wrong otherwise.
I just realized, Marius... You don't use a traditional tape measure do you?
no, I don't
You're back again! Great!
I hope your degree gets near to be finished so you have more time making videos. 😉
FINALLY!
have you use your lathe yet?
laid?
Marius Hornberger lathe sorry
Yes, I've used it several times. Mostly off camera though
More videos Marius!
I need to build your lift table for my shop!!!
Marius, I can't remember if you have ever answered this before, but thought I would ask.
What primary language do you speak in your house?
I know germans learn english in school but you speak it really well, and use it for your descriptions.
Was just wondering, keep up the great vids.
I speak German. My English practice came through talking in my videos
For a second language you speak it extremley well. I have learned some german but will never speak it as well as you can english.
Now instead of cleaning up the edges, use it just like that and call it "live edge" and sell it for 10x the price :)
Juhuuuuuu neues Video 🙃
Good demonstration. You must have an occasional need for one inch and less pieces of wood, don't you? You sure started with a variety of small logs.
13th lol
nice video Marius
welcome back, can we expect more videos on the regular again, or is studies still in your way?
I upload whenever I can
Hej Marius could you please make a video about your router table 😃
