Enjoyable convo guys. and I thought I was the only one who ran around the house trying my edits on all the TVs, Tablets and Phone to check before sending to the couple :)
Enjoyable ramblings like being with two mates down the pub (but without me having to get a round in!) and really gave a lot of context about the different approaches. Quite reassuring to me who targets 8-10 films a year so that I can give them the attention I want (though alongside the day job). Looking forward to that next BTS
@@AdamWingFilms I actually forgot until watching this I've paid Mr Kenny to critique a film eeeeeeek. Going back to check my audio fades and colour grading before submitting hahaha
Love what Arran says about the edit / the quality of the story-telling being key. (Getting a lot out of this chat - apologies for bombardment of comments!!)
Loved this chat! Thank you so much; it's invaluable to a newbie videographer! I especially appreciated the bit about 'some days it feels like the day is conspiring against you.' That, along with those newbie nerves, can be a tricky combination! I was so excited for my first big wedding last month, and then felt so deflated afterwards (like omg what the hell am I doing / what a fraud / how do I even use a camera!!) - but I think I got enough footage to work with, and the couple will hopefully enjoy their film. I learned a lot! And ultimately I think I'm very self critical. Your content always reminds me to do my best, have fun with it, and then keep moving forwards. :)
Hey! Glad you liked it ☺️ don’t worry we all felt like this first time, but I’m sure you did more than enough. And you move on to the next and keep getting better and better. 💪
This may sound harsh. I am a lot like Arran: checking color, removing one frame here or there... but in the end I think what is often holding me back is my ego. So this why Adam is such an inspiration for us and I think so many of us videographers can learn to be a bit more like Adam. I don't think our films will get worse if I decide quicker in the edit or have a grainy shot in the film.
(Me again!) I wonder if the amount of time spent on the edit is really more about the pursuit of perfectionism? Like, the concept of it being 'done' is purely subjective... because it's never really done. There's always room to improve / you could keep working on something indefinitely (if that makes sense!). So at some point you do have to draw a line. And with myself, I know that when I pursue perfectionism then it can get in the way of my creativity. I relate more to Arran's way of working, but am drawn to you Adam (as a mentor) - specifically because I want to simplify everything that I do and feel that there's a beautiful lightness to your films.

Enjoyed having this on while editing, makes me want to get to another meet up.
I second this! 🍺🍺
AMAZING chat guys so insightful to hear both of your approaches to weddings! Loved this :)
Thanks Mia ☺️
Very interesting to hear both of your similarities and differences in approach. Solid background chat whilst doing website updates 🤣
Glad we could keep you company mate 😄 loved that we’re both so different but with the same focus..

No apologies necessary! Love to hear from you 🙌

@@AdamWingFilms thank you! That's so encouraging! :)
Oh cool. Something to watch that isn't going to end in me buying more kit. I didn't realise you'd started doing these Adam.
Kits overrated 🤣 done a few over the years but this is the first for a while 🙌
@@AdamWingFilms Yes, but if you you've got to collect it all. 😂🙈
I'll have a listen in the gym tomorrow. 👍🏼

Agreed. It’s all subjective and you could go over it forever, which is why ‘good is good enough’ for me.
@@AdamWingFilms such a refreshing approach; I love it :)
How do I find other videographers? Is there a community that I’m not aware of?
Facebook groups are a great place to start, if you’re in the UK like me, search “Uk wedding videographers”, great community
