You have left such a legacy dear Melanie. I’ve been watching you for years and years. RIP, you were so beautiful and kind. I never knew you but I miss you.
THE BASTING RUFFLE PIECE SIZE - This is a total estimation on my part based on Melanie's picture of the cut outs against her cutting mat on her blog, but from the viewers angle it looks like that piece measures 4 inches x 19 inches. I hope that helps anyone who is confused. Thank you for keeping these videos going, Melanie! This is something that is keeping me sane while I am stuck at home.
Lovely Melanie,, Nice to see you back sewing,, keep them coming a complete joy you are to watch,, a real tonic in these times,, pretty little pouch to sew,, Keep well ,,, and see you here for the next one x
I have posted this elsewhere in case some people may find it helpful. Back when SARS first came out years ago, China ran out of face masks. A lingerie company took bras, cut out the cups, and used them for face masks. They made some very beautiful ones, all colors. Some had lace, some had ribbons. Very unique. We all have bras we no longer wear so maybe they can be put to use. Maybe add a layer of felt or something for extra filtration? Hope it helps!
If you guys want a longer pouch so a full size pencil can pencil can be put into it, make every 7.5" Into 12" P.s. the ruffle is actually 4" x 19" ( Rest in peace Melanie 🕊️)
Just printed the instructions. Your printed instructions say to "Take your 2.5 x 12 inch piece, fold wrong sides together length wise and make 2 basting stitches along the raw edge to make the ruffle. Pull on top threads to create ruffle that is about 7.5 inches." Now I'm really confused because that doesn't appear to be correct either!!!
I had the same problem, but, luckily, Melanie had the cuts laid out on her cutting mat when she took a picture for the blog post. I went back and counted the measurement based on her picture and the strip that is folded in half and then basted is by my guestimation 4 x 19 inches.
Could you please be more specific which pieces you are sewing together instead of just saying "front" or "back" piece? Maybe refer to them by the front or back and then the size of it? It was very confusing while I was sewing.
Also on your written instructions and the picture with the measurements, you have 12inx7in so that is what I did but then you say it was 12inx2.5in for the ruffle. What measurement is it?

Melanie, did you link your fabric somewhere? I love it and would love to know where to get it! Thanks!
Hi Melanie. I'm having a problem with this pattern. Are you sure the ruffle is 71/2" x 12"?
I have made it! I did a 4 inch by 18 inch piece of fabric for the ruffle and it worked perfectly! All the other measurements are correct ☺️
This look like fun to do iam going to make one
Soo cute!!
Do you need a zipper foot to make this
What a beautiful zip pouch, Melanie. You really are the queen of sewing.
Byron Chandler why are you the only man following Melanie? Do you sew Bryon?

I did a similar thing but made it 12” long/wide.
Super cute 😍 Have you tried yarn from vilrita.com ? They have way better prices than hobium or yarnspirations
